I just realized I never posted about my clarinets. I have a Vito 7212 Bb Soprano Clarinet, a LeBlanc Normandy 4 Bb Soprano Clarinet, a silver Bb Soprano clarinet from the 1920's, and a Henry Pourcelle Bb Soprano clarinet circa 1910. I'll try to take somepictures and link to them eventually. They're prettyness.

Wow, okay we were in this marching band competition and they had this REALLY big Clarinet. One of the kids asked, "What the heck is that?" Well my band teacher said it was a whirllyder (Yes I can't spell....) yeah well we later find out it isn't called a whirllyder... it was funny, because the kid that asked actually thought our band director was serious.
I play the Bb clarinet. I just recently made first chair. (I was so proud... hehe) and I'm in the marching band. our marching band as like a total of 125 people, with dance and color guard. Yeah we got made fun of because we had a dance team... jerks. biggrin .... um what else.... um this was my first year in marching band and I've played the clarinet for like 4yrs... lol and I've only been a second chair once... it was sad, other than that 1st chair all the way. Like my bragging????
You can call me Rizz.

gasp! Yay! another middle schooler whee I go to south pointe :3
anyways...
awee can I brag? ninja I never really get to unless I'm hyper...oh well I won't sweatdrop
one of my flute friends, kelly introduced me to the new flute teacher Reina, mr. a butted in and was like, "I've never seen a student improve so much over the summer, she wants to go to a conservatory for college too" they asked who my teacher was and I told 'em stuart, Reina was like, "Stuart? Oh you're really lucky, he's a really good teacher" D: made me a bit sad because I remembered him saying one day...like a billion years from now [in my opinion, I'll never get there] he's gonna give me off to michelle zukovsky [first chair of ze phil] crying made me sad....
anyways!~ MY ALL STATE RECORDING IS TODAY DDDDD: >__< my solo is perfect, I just have to fix some glitches and get back to thinking of the middle section in 'one' and make the last section more in one. My scales lag a bit, I think I can play them perfectly at tempo 90 in sixteenths, but tempo 96 in sixteenths, my cordination isn't too good gonk and my chromatic needs to get more of a triplet feel...
pinky picie stix-my friend plays the contra! :3 he's pretty good at it....D: i haven't talked to him for a while ;_; he's been avoiding me. Anyways, XD I tried playing it once but when I sat down I couldn't reach the mouth piece -_____-;;;
I shall record later! ::needs critique:: -miyoko

I shall record later! ::needs critique:: -miyoko rofl When I played contra, Fearless Leader was happy because he didn't need to give me his phone book to sit on to reach the mouthpiece xd But I had to crane my neck a little to reach it. My dance group had complemented me on my poise because I'd gotten so used to stretching my upper body out I just did it all the time. blaugh May the Band Force be with you, Miyoko! heart Hope the recording goes well!

::runs around:: everything has gone smoothly, my scales are a little shakey, it depends on how much energy I have to go fast but not rush. My piece is going well, again I need energy to really emphasize a few things and go at the tempo I love best XD!!!
:Whee: whee I shall rest and do breathing exercises!!!

Sorry I didn't reply, Miyoko, I've been busy. Mostly with videogames. I have a solid amount of news for you. I've been reading a biography/autobiography of Aaron Copland. His composition teacher, Nadia Boulinger (something like that), was a part-time composer. The book said that everyone thought that she was an amazing teacher.
I might be (and probably am) moving. My parents are in their 40s and they want to have a house all on one floor because they probably won't be able to walk up the steps when they grow old. Our neiborhood is turning into a ghetto, and although our house is really nice and more roomy than the one we're considering, my dad says that it will decrease in value with the bad neiborhood. My parents say that the only thing keeping us in our current house is my next-door neibor and best friend Lauren. The house that we're thinking of buying is in a nice neiborhood with no ghetto-druggie people and a yard that's like at least twice as big as ours. We're only moving like 10 blocks away, but...
My band life is going great though. I'm trying to unite the section as a family (all 17 or so of us) and I'm doing a decent job of it. 4 other clarinets besides me are joining the school orchestra. (me and one other play pretty well, and the others aren't as good right now, but I think they can shape up to be pretty good musicians.) Those three are trying out for tri-county orchestra. I would have, but I've been busy with school work, and me and my friend Megan (she plays Bells), are going to be joining martial arts lessons soon. On thursday we face off against our rival school. We're gonna whip their butts, and my mom is going to film it. while our school colors are a really pretty blue and white, their school colors are the ugliest green imaginable and white.
We're learning guitar in music class, and I tried out most of the chords on the sheet that she gave us, and my favorite one is E minor. I sortof made up another one that's played with F# on the first string and the second and 3rd strings played. it sounds pretty cool. I'm developing a good ear for tuning, but maybe I can get one of my musically inclined cousins to get me an electronic tuner/metronome for my birthday, which is November 25th.
The bad news is, I'm catholic and I'm forced to go to CCD. I think my CCD teacher is into teenage or younger boys, in the sicker sense of the word. He's about 50 years old and seems to have a personal vengance against all of us. Maybe we can scare him off like we did the first teachers last year.
but yeah. Miyoko, I want to hear that recording of you. And if you have any concerts coming up.
I'm gonna see if I can get a decent keyboard for my birthday or christmas and figure out some chords/harmonies. It would be a lot easier though if we played songs with split clarinet parts.

the clarinet section has gotten utterly discordant, I made it even more discordant ;_; one of my bestest friends/used to be rival is angry at me ;_; it makes the first clarinets sound so...divided....[only four first clarinets] >_< she won't even look at me...what kind of band family is that???? :[ its even harder since I have like 20 in my section plus the other 20 in the other band....;_;....::sighs:: But overall, its going pretty good, me and my enemy nikki are going at it for first chair, my BD says its impossible to choose :Scream:

Seriously, I live in PA and you live in CA and that's almost the farthest possible distance two people can be away from each other and still be in the U.S. If I move, I'll still be going to the same school. And my friend goes to a catholic high school while I go to the public junior high, although we're both in 9th grade. Wait...you're 13-14 years old, and your parents are in their 50s?!? My Discover magazine said that a female's fertility plummets at 40. I know that you definitely have the ability to make 1st chair. I took an application home for tri-county orchestra today, and it sounds really interesting. When I asked my BD for the application, he was like, "I was was hoping you would ask." I'm almost definitely going to make it, since I'm the only 9th grade clarinet that actually cares and is going out for it. I'm nervous cuz we probably have to audition, and auditioning involves sight reading, and I suck at sight reading. We would probably have to do a prepared piece, and I was going to do the Legend of Zelda theme, but there is no definite ending to it and my tounging isn't very good on the intro, so I'm pretty much going to do the Battle Hymn of the Republic, unless I find something better. I'm also nervous because pretty much my only friends in the band are in the clarinet section, and two lesser-skilled clarinets are going for tri-county (both are my friends), and I hope that he can get two clarinet spots so I have someone to be my roomate cuz we have to stay overnight with a host family.l The bad news is, today in band I just put my clarinet together out in the hallway (that's where we keep our cases during practice) and I didn't stick the mouthpiece on the whole way and when I was carrying it, I accidentally hit the mouthpiece and it fell and the top part has a decent sized chip in it. Angie and Christina did the same thing two years ago. The good news is that I'm going to get another one that's a bit nicer (the one that broke had indentations exactly where I place my two front teeth. and white marks that aren't mold, cuz I take care of my precious Marina) I'm glad I have two clarinets (one is technically my dad's, but he hasn't played for like 10 years) so now I'm using the mouthpiece from the other clarinet. And band practice is tomarrow and the big game is thursday.
