Keegan hadn't exactly expecting a move quite like that one, but not only that, it was launched with such speed that Artemis barely had any time to react. The Swellow's eyes went wide at the sight of the rainbow beam flying at her and she tried to veer straight up, the Psybeam catching her in the stomach. Artemis managed to stay airborne, even though the psychic attack had left her body feeling a bit tingly and weird, almost like an electric shock of sorts.
Keegan growled and clenched his fists. "Fight back with Wing Attack!" he shouted, hoping that the Psybeam hadn't left Artemis confused. Artemis gave an affirmative screech and soared towards Butterfree, preparing to strike the butterfly with her wings. C'mon, Artemis! I know you can do this! he thought, watching his Pokemon.

Still holding the empty Pokeball in her hands, Riza closed her eyes. She still felt a little bad about missing out on that Pokemon. 'There are many other trainers here, probably every one of them a better trainer than me. It's only natural that more experienced trainers would nab the Pokemon.' The question kept nagging in her mind though. What if she kept missing out on Pokemon to capture? What if she never met any Pokemon that wanted to go with her?
'No I can't think like that. It's just because I'm still new to this, that's all,' Riza thought, minimizing the Pokeball, but continuing to hold it in her hand. 'Someday soon I'll get some new Pokemon. After all, I can't very well compete in the double performance contests with only one Pokemon. Not only that, but Sneasel deserves a new friend.' She sat up and looked at the small sphere once again before she put it back in her bag, this time moving all five of them so they were within easier reach. "I'll be ready next time," she told herself.

M.A. gaped at Mike and Beacon's airborne pyrokinetic and electronic show. Jeez. These guys... She approached them with awe easily evident in her eyes, Robin still in her thin grip, and it was only when she was a yard or two away from that she realized the latter and let go with a sheepish laugh. "Sorry 'bout that!" she added to her friend. "Forgot."
"And gee, thanks? That was some performance," she directed towards the hugging duo, whose affections she didn't want to interrupt but ah well. "Though truthfully I feel kinda bad for the birds," she murmured a little more quietly, having glanced around and noticed all the fried chicken being either snapped up by unscrupulous trainers or wobbling away, their spirits broken.
Returning her attention to their "saviors," M.A. waved amiably at Beacon; his loopy little smile practically won her heart from the first go.

Kurine glanced around and realized that she could no longer see her Cyndaquil. She blinked and looked through some grass, figuring he just hadn't popped out yet, but she couldn't find him in the immediate area around her. "Cyndaquil?" She called, getting worried. She'd only been a trainer for a few days, and she was already losing her Pokemon!
Cyndaquil sniffed the other Pokemon, noticing that he was quite shy, and when he spoke, it just proved it. "Cynda, Cyndaquil!" (I'm Cyndaquil. Nice to meet you!") The fire-type replied to Sherlock brightly, smiling. He glanced up when he noticed Sherlock's trainer come over, but he had no idea it was the other Cyndaquil's trainer, so he just stared, wondering what the human was doing.

Ugh. Mitsu woke up to the blaring sunlight and already loud voices. And why the hell was it bright? Where the hell am I? She though bitterly, tossing the blanket over her head to shield herself from the annoying rays of sunshine. Failing to fall back into a clam state of peace and quite she threw the blanket down in a huff. "Slateport, right," she muttered rubbing her eyes. That damn Touya bringing her here. That family dinner and stupid meeting with whatever his name was. Mr. Doom and Gloom? No, no, it was Crenu. Needless to say Mitsu was not the morning person. She had been a fairly early riser but after getting use to sleeping in, pulling all nighters, and constantly falling alseep at her desk she had lost that nifty little attribute.
Today was that beach party or whatever correct? She had been a bit pshyced for it yesterday after meeting MA and Kilik, even Robin. But now she retreated back into that shell of hers. She didn't feel like running into a certain boy or his red headed lover, or that ever cheery girl and her many Pokemon. Maybe Rowan's speech would be good, just maybe.
She picked up her bag and sluggishly walked to the bathroom, luckily finding one that wasn't crammed with giggling girls who had arrived a bit early for the party. She washed her face, brushed her teeth, and completed her other morning rituals. After finishing that she changed into her swimsuit, a solid deep purple bikini. She threw over her usual garb on top. A white camisole with a v-neck purple tee over it. A pair of beige and white bermuda shorts and matching purple flip flops finished the outfit.
The Pokemon Center wasn't any less noisy as she stepped from the bathroom and out into the main lobby. The noise aggrivated her a bit. She scarfed down a muffin which didn't taste quite as good as the ones Touya had made her in Mossdeep, but it'd have to do. With breakfast out of the way she could go on to endure the rest of the day and hopefully find some solace elsewhere afterwards.
She stepped outside of the slidding glass doors, the salty sea scent hitting her nose in an instant. She breathed in deeply. It smelt smiliar to home. She reached for Sapphire's Pokeball only to realize he was still with Touya for a little training. "I miss the guy already," she said and in turn reached for Karri's Pokeball and sent her out with a gentle flick of her wrist. "Mmm, the beach party, eh? I wonder if everyone's here, and more importantly if Mike's here," Karri laughed. She had always shared a special bond with the pyromaniac and his Pokemon, especially Nitro and Felsic. The best friend and the son-in-some-odd-way. Mitsu, however, wasn't quite as happy to hear the name and gripped her hand over her chest for a few seconds. She didn't comment as they walked out onto the sand. I miss Dante.

'That was close,' Sherlock thought, 'He might of attacked me' "Do you have a trainer" Sherlock whispered.
It was double trouble. Dakra couldn't tell difference between the two pokemon. He thought for a minute, then put down his rucksack.

As Artemis sped towards Butterfree, Jaeshan knew that there was no way for his Pokemon to dodge. He hoped that after using Harden earlier, it would help to cushion the hit a little. "Brace yourself, Butterfree, then counter with Flash!" he shouted. It was a little risky, but he did have a plan.
Butterfree brought her arms up and tucked her wings in a bit defensively as not to have them damaged again, and she cried out when the Swellow's powerful wings bashed into her. Right away she spread her own wings wide, using the shiny powder on her wings to generate a blinding flash right in front of Artemis. The crowd murmured from the exchange of attacks, although it was impossible to tell which side they were cheering for as of yet.
"Now push her away with Whirlwind!" Jaeshan commanded. It was difficult after taking a direct hit from Wing Attack, but Butterfree began to flap her own delicate wings as fast as she could, pushing herself back a bit while generating a fairly strong, yet harmless Whirlwind to put even more distance between her and the Swellow.

As Robin was dragged around by M.A. she tried her best to avoid being pecked to death by Wingull. In her arms Raz and Brook did there best to beat a few of them off. Still they were saved by a sudden fire ball and an electrical display. Robin only just stopped herself from running into M.A. when she stopped in front of the guy who must have saved them. Standing behind the other girl Robin watched curiously for a second. This trainer must be really powerful to take out that many pokemon at once. She of course had no idea that this was Nitro's trainer. If she did she would probably be begging for a ride or something.
"Um, thank you for saving us from the Wingull." She muttered. Over all this was pretty intimidating, she had never been around so many powerful trainers.
Seeing that the danger was gone Raz crawled out of Robin's grasp and up onto her shoulder where he clamped onto her bathing suit top in order to steady himself. He was done with excitement for right now, maybe later he would go flying again, but right now he would stay with Robin. Brook was happy to be so close to his trainers chest so he didn't mind the least being held some more.
Ampersand frowned slightly as he was hung up on, he knew he owed her big time for this but she didn't have to remind him. He just hoped that she didn't make it something bad. Still she was probably still bitter at him since he hadn't called in forever... Groaning slightly he pulled his hat over his head and hoped that whatever she made him do it wasn't all to bad.

It seemed that Jaeshan was far more resourceful than Keegan had originally anticipated. Artemis could do nothing about the bright light that suddenly flared up in front of her and she closed her eyes, unable to see anything but bright white spots for the time being. Butterfree's follow-up Whirlwind may not have been overly strong, but it was enough to push the temporarily blind Artemis away from her.
Keegan growled again and clenched his fists. Dammit, is every person I know a better trainer than I am...?! He closed his eyes and bowed his head, forcing those thoughts from his head. No, they weren't better, they just had more experience than he did. After all, he did leave home several months after Mike did.
There was really only one thing he could do right now, although Keegan couldn't help but wish that Artemis knew Aerial Ace - then her reduced accuracy wouldn't be a problem. He opened his eyes and called out to the Swellow. "Double Team!" Artemis didn't argue with her trainer's choice of commands and did just that. With a small twist in the air she seemingly flew off in all directions, each copy still struggling with the aftereffects of the Flash.

Cyndaquil couldn't understand why the other Pokemon was so nervous. He nodded his head in response to the other Pokemon's question, and glanced over warily at the human as he was putting down his rucksack. Cyndaquil was pretty sure he could escape if this person mistook him for a wild Pokemon and tried to capture him, and he made sure to keep an eye on him.
The little fire-type glanced around as he heard his trainer calling him. Shortly after, Kurine pushed aside some of the grass and spotted the two Cyndaquils. "Cyndaquil?" The girl questioned, looking back and forth between the two. Her Pokemon happily bounded over to her, and she smiled, crouching down and patting him on the head. "Don't leave like that! I was really worried about you," She scolded, standing back up and noticing Dakra for the first time. "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't notice you. Is this other Cyndaquil yours?" She asked the trainer, motioning at Sherlock.

Even Butterfree's multi-faceted eyes couldn't tell which Swellow was real among the fakes, and the butterfly's antennae twitched somewhat nervously. Artemis may not have been able to see properly, but that didn't make her any less dangerous, at least in Jaeshan and Butterfree's eyes. He didn't have too much experience with Double Team and he wasn't entirely sure how the copies would react when attacked.
"Okay Butterfree, we've got to find the real one... so start pegging 'em off with Psybeam!"
"Free-eeh!" Butterfree cried before doing just that. She picked the Swellow closest to her and launched a rainbow-coloured beam at it.

Not only could Jaeshan and Butterfree not tell the difference between the many Swellow on the field, but Keegan couldn't either. Not that he would ever admit it, though he did think that there were advantages to him not knowing either.
Butterfree's Psybeam cut through a few of the clones, making them vanish completely. Keegan could tell that Artemis was starting to get her vision back, as she (and each of her clones) were squinting in Butterfree's general direction. "Go after her with a Quick Attack," the redhead called out. He figured that so long as all the remaining birds were flying at the Butterfree it would be hard to tell where the actual attack was coming from. Assuming it hit.
Each copy of Artemis screeched in unison before they began to speed towards Butterfree, wings and legs tucked in close to her body to maximize her speed.

As soon as Mike was done squeezing his Ampharos, who was squirming somewhat in his trainer's grip, he stood up to face his damsels in distress. "No problem." he said to both of them, exhaling the last bit of adrenaline and brushing some hair back into place. "I wouldn't let two lovely ladies like you be marred by some rowdy birds." He bowed ever so slightly to the two without realizing, Portabello's honorable personality influencing him yet again. "If I really wanted to give you a show I would have used my Charizard, but he rarely ever gets the chance to relax, so you got my little buddy Beacon to thank." He gave his Pokemon a light pat on the head. "Say hello Beacon."
Beacon stared blankly at M.A., his eyes unblinking as he tried to figure out who this one was. "Fla!" He cried out after a few moments deliberation. "Fla! Fla! Fla!" The Ampharos flailed his arms wildly, running over and hugging the brunette.
"No Beacon, you're an Ampharos, not a Flaaf-oh!" He laughed, finally getting what his Pokemon was trying to say. "No, that's not Flannery you dummy. Flannery has bright red hair." Mike shot a somewhat embarrassed smile at M.A. "I'm sorry, he thinks that you're my girlfriend, haha." He looked over at the girl and shrugged. "Sorry, he's a bit of a dim light."

"Gah! Butterfree, fight back with another Psybeam!" Jaeshan shouted, trying not to panic. Butterfree struggled not to as well as the flock of Swellow flew at her with an alarming pace. Again she used her wings to give herself a boost and she blasted the colourful beam at the nearest Artemis only to vanquish it completely. She closed her eyes as the rest of the Swellow encroached on her, feeling the sting of the real Artemis' claws digging into her side. The pain lasted only a moment though, and Butterfree realized that it had been a glancing strike. She also knew that she probably wouldn't be as lucky next time.
With a grunt, Butterfree pushed herself higher into the air, awaiting the next stage of the battle. It was a lot of fun fighting with another Flying-type, and someday she hoped that she could battle alongside Artemis instead of against her.

M.A. smiled at Mike's mannerisms -- charming fellow, this one was. Perhaps a little smitten with himself, but most charming fellow very typically were, and M.A. was never the critical one to begin with anyways. But go figure, he has a girlfriend, she thought, feeling the very vague twang of regret that comes with the territory. Who hasn't felt that "ah well" feeling, when meeting someone, who reveals him or herself as quite occupied, even if said the former personage was far from falling in love at first sight? It's the what-if feeling that at least strikes the dreamers, if the rest of the population had lost their sensitivity.
She intercepted Beacon's hug with wide eyes that quickly squinted into a smile; don't truthful smiles run to the eyes? Nevertheless, she underestimated the yellow Pokemon's might and nearly toppled over. catching herself just in time and rubbing behind the cutie's ears fondly. "Aw, it's fine. He's adorable!"
Daemyn and Ulani had finally caught up around now and rallied somewhere near M.A., not exactly certain how close they wanted to get to that great oaf that was hugging M.A. They'd seen him in action, and Daemyn saw Beacon as a powerful one to be reckoned with while Ulani saw him as a bad case of static that'd give her fluffy wings a case of the afro. And she wouldn't abide by that, oh heeeeeell nah.
Meanwhile, Tora was still eating and ballooning in size. A dim light began to shimmer over her, but the tingling feeling did not mix very well with indigestion, and so with a gulp the Phanpy swallowed the food slipping down her throat and likewise that strange process all into the expanses of her stomach. There would be no freaky glowing now!
