Faust rolled his eyes. "It's just for effect," he said. "But go ahead and sing, if you want." the old woman was sleeping, her knitting lying limp in her lap.
Sven woke. "Are you an angel?" he asked, blinking blearily. "I thought that angels had big wings and haloes and harps and whatnot...?"
"Well... for now, that's a bit excessive," Faust sighed. "I'm a beginner."

Netsubo hung back, not sure what to do. It seemed strangly simple for right now. She just hoped that Sven went peacefully.

Sven's eyes welled up with tears. "Listen, Mr... angel.... I know that I'm old, but Gertie doesn't have anyone else.... can't I at least say goodbye? We'd meant to die together!" the old man started to bawl like a baby. "Please, angel! I've been a good Christian my whole life, me and Gertie both!"
Faust glanced helplessly at Netsubo.

Netsubo sighed,"How bout this....Faust, is her name anywhere on it, or can you find out how much longer she has? If we ask her, she might consent..."

"Next week..." Faust said, flipping through the list (which seemed to sprout more and more pages by the minute.) "I... guess.... that we could take her now."

She smiled at Sven,"Ask her if she wants to go with you now. Tell her she'd only be waiting a week otherwise."

"Gertrude! Gertrude, wake up! It's an angel!" Sven said, gently shaking his sleeping wife.
"Eh? Oh? Oh!" she looked up at Faust. "It is! An angel! It's so..." she trailed off, unsure how to describe what appeared to be a skinny addict in a white robe.
"We're ready," Sven said, holding hands with Gertie, who looked momentarily surprised, but nodded in agreement. "I'm anxious to shed this tired, old, body."
"OK..." Faust said, turning away as he touched them with the scythe.

The couple seemed to just go to sleep. It looked rather peaceful and the looks on their faces made it seem better,"I'm glad they cared about eachother so much....The world needs people like that."

Faust nodded in agreement. Slightly encouraged, he glanced at his list. "Billy Baker, United States." he opened another rift; he already seemed to be getting the hang of this. They appeared in the middle of a street, where a little boy was riding his bicycle. "Aw, damn it..." Faust said.

"No,"She shook her head. This was something that she would never help with. Not the murder of a child,"Faust, no. There has to be some loop hole here!"

Faust searched. "I'm not seeing one! If you haven't noticed, I'm the angel of death, not a guardian!" He seemed just as frustrated, though.

"No!" Faust said, more fiercely than he'd intended. "Netsubo, what if you get killed instead?"

"I don't care! No child deserves to die!"She said, tears in her eyes. She had simpathy for children,"Besides, I have a feeling that I was supposed to die that night. Mephisto found a way to cancel that...maybe we can do the same here!"

"No child deserves to die..." Faust agreed, "but they do. Every day. There will be others, many others... justice or not, they're destined to perish." He watched as a truck headed down the road. "Alter this action, and you risk altering something greater and more terrible."
