My character's story: My great grandparents were traveling merchants who went to distant lands to find new goodies to sell. When they were visiting an island nation, they found a beautiful olivine crystal and decided to take it home as a good luck charm. Unfortunately by doing this, they activated a curse. It's said that the guardian goddess of the islands, Pele (yes, I love hawaiian mythology. Pele is my second favorite goddess) puts a curse of bad luck on anyone who takes the rocks she created away from her island. My great grandparents were stubborn and wouldn't give in to the curse. Neither were my grandparents, or my parents. Unfortunately I would like not to fall on my face every 2 steps, so I decide to quest to the other side of the world and return the crystal to Pele's domain.

My quest involves earning enough money for a ship and supplies, since there are rarely ships that go out to thoes islands, and then finally making the voyage to lift the curse. Help appreciated.

My curse involves both comical and tragic bad luck, which makes my quest quite difficult. I'm prone to getting lost, hurt, and in the wrong place at the wrong time. I can't gamble unless I want to lose, I will never win rock-paper-sissors, and if someone has to do the dirty jobs, I will get picked.

A minor plus seems to be that the curse does not prevent me from getting laid, since I need to be able to pass on the rock to a future child, and that I can't die, at least until I have a child. This is to ensure that the rock actually returns. This is only a minor plus, because you know there are worse things than death, and i'm not immune to extreme pain.

And that's what I thought up. Comments/suggestions = cool.

Konami: Any simple edits you like. :3 This actually may become a more involved roleplay than I'd originally envisioned. I may upgrade the prize. We'll see how things go. ^^

Miriam: Perhaps you can tailor your pre-existing story to suit the contest? :3 Because part of the roleplay requirements is that your character finds a shiney on his/her journey. One example of tailoring would be that Pele is the goddess of the temple where the roleplay ends, the curse sticks to the bloodline of the original thief instead of the stone-possessor, and the stone is lost and you have to go find it in order to return it and break the curse.
