Seph smirked seeing Itaka cough "Get something in your throat there? And the demon genes are funny things. they pretty much fight against the human genes until eventually certain battles are won and lost. If we had a kid they could look more demonic than me. May be all kids of demon genes that never got used" she pondered putting an arm around Itaka. "But for now... the only kids I want to look after are these birds" she added with a laugh petting both Chobi and Anabelle.
"War probably didn't do them any favours. Their villages were frequent targets during the wars. But depressing topic aside. Shouldn't the pair of you think about packing up? Not gonna get to Yithra by late evening if you don't start rounding yourselves up soon" the thought suddenly occurred to Aethys glancing up at the sun in his failed attempts to try and show off with the plate flipping"
Hebal smiled though more out of surprise to see Jeckhart's expression looking more positive than it usually would "Well thanks guys and personally I like my ear. It also made very easy entertainment for Amane when she was little. But your right... didn't think so much time had passed" she sighed a little disappointed the fun had to end.
Runide shook her head "Well not really cause theres only so many balls anyway that get released its just the thrower that's changing around. Eventually they stop coming back to you see" she mumbled almost hitting the back wall behind the machine distracted for a moment by their score.
Amane panted the exercise starting to get to her "Wow this place is like a mini work out if playing all these games for long periods of time but what on earth did this thing just start moving faster?! This thing must be threatened that we might get a prize to start doing that" she complained determined to beat the machine.

Nares shook her head "No the horses are right back at the outpost meaning we would have to go on foot. Unless with your permission you would rather I sped up our journey back there by calling up something a bit more... feral. Most people just straight up say no so wont be offended if its not for you" she offered.
"Uhh yeah by feral she means riding on the back of a behemoth or a Zu or some other creature you would normally want to be nowhere near" Hayate warned them thinking Oassu would have probably been expecting a chocobo or something harmless.
Felina meanwhile didn't hear "Hey Corella sorry to be a pain but we need to go now or we'll miss everything going on back home. Wouldn't want that now would we" she told her before turning to Entia "Thank you for the food and offering your company when nobody else would and hope to see you"
Corella sighed but nodded her head then bowed at Entia "Yeah thanks for everything. I really had fun this morning an maybe if we meet, next time it will be me sharing my dinner with you and showing you a few dances" she smiled.
Entia smiled back "It was nice meeting you too. You an interesting bunch of people and I would be happy to take up that offer" she replied bowing back "Farewell and you enjoy your dragon worshipping festival and be sure to pray hard for more warmth"
Satoshi shook her head "Not really. Probably wont go noticed by any ninja since kids in ninja school and normal school are kept separate so to learn different things. She'll be with others who failed the entry. That doesn't mean shes not smart or skilled. Just that she could be either lacking, the basic skills or even not mentally suitable for such a high pressure job. Not everyone can kill someone in a flash without being overcome with guilt" she assured Gil.

Oassu hesitated for a moment "Well I'd rather not ride a behemoth thanks very much, besides I doubt you'd get Corella onto something like that" he said watching Felina walk over to Corella "Even if Corella was apparently quite the fiend-rider in her youth" he sighed.
Gil frowned "Sounds a bit cruel to keep them apart like that but yeah I suppose that last part is pretty important, seems cruel to teach kids that at that age" he grunted "Even I didn't kill anyone until my teen years" he said somewhat disapprovingly.
Itaka frowned "Well that would be unusual for them to look more demonic than you" he said thinking the kids would get bullied as he joined Seph in petting Chobi and Anabelle "Still we should probably getting along to the restaurant now, parade is winding down" he said chuckling as a local school's group in the parade came past wearing moogle and dragon costumes among others waving little banners they'd made in class.
Jeckhart nodded glad someone had realised the time "Yes we should probably get going about now and it's not that we've had so much time Hebal but we were on a short time schedule as it was and we still need to round up the children wherever they are" he looking back at the carnival.
Zadina giggled "Well it doesn't have many places to move so it's not that much harder" he said happily still putting them easily "This place is certainly full of interesting contraptions, you're lucky to live here Runide" he said.

Seph yawned not overly interested "That's very cute and all but not my thing to watch though I bet those kids parents are over the moon right now with this part of the parade. Wouldn't be highly unlikely they would be more demonic with your genes mixed in there so no need to worry about that" she assured him leading Chobi through the crowd on foot. "I bet you could pull off a moogle outfit" she added while waiting for Itaka to take the lead.
Hebal mumbled a small aww sound putting the plate down "Oh well was fun while it lasted but yeah we'll need to leave this area and find the kids so we can travel about to Yithra" she said loud enough to pick up Alpha's attention.
"Well you guys have fun in Yithra, I need to go train anyway but I'm sure Mu will help you look around for your friends, they are probably on the rides or in the arcade since most side stalls still aren't open yet" Aethys recommended
Mu nodded springing up at the own mention of her name "Yeah I can show you guys around though.... I actually have a request...." she trailed off a moment looking at the floor. Mind if I tag along to Yithra with you a little while. Wouldn't need a trip back since the circus will be going to the same continent post festival anyway but... I have always wanted to go" she requested gazing up at Alpha.
Alpha smiled patting Mu's head "sure I have no problem with it. And you don't worry we'll find the kids yourselves so if your serious about it then get packing and meet us by the airship in an hour" he replied after getting a subtle nod from Hebal.
Amane sighed relieved to hear the machine make its closing fanfare while it calculating up their score. "This place is interesting but weird yeah. Not something you would ever see in one of our forests and only a moogle could invent something like this so effectively" she grinned picking up the small package that dropped out the machine "Ooh look at this.... we got a prize" she cheered pulling out a small stuffed Chocobi.
Runide laughed "Well congrats on getting a prize. you should keep it to remember today and hope it doesn't confuse your pet too much since it looks just like him only yellow" she giggled. "my dad actually made most of these and not the moogles"

Nares sighed but nodded her head "Yeah I get that, nobody ever opts for something like that unless desperate enough or I don't give them a choice" she answered used to lack of faith in her ability to tame fiends. "I heard the story of Felina and the Marlboro. Sounded funny if a stupid thing to do though when I was that age I was already riding the smaller fiends learning to shoot things while mounted so I cant judge on that one"
Hayate groaned "What is it with the people of Yithra and playing with fiends at a young age. When I was that age it was all pickpocketing, running around the sand and climbing into buildings and sneaking into the baths to try and get out the heat of the day. At most you would get a light beating." he recalled watching Felina and Corella return to them.
"Well we're ready to walk back when you guys are. Think Private Nal will be rather relieved" Felina smiled saluting the group once back together again.
Satoshi shook her head "Most ninja don't make their first kill until their teens but all the training in the world wont be any help if the person isn't robust enough for ninja life. Some graduate early though all new ninja just get basic jobs and the amount of combat per mission slowly increases over time. Anyway as you can see Hotaru isn't all that bothered in the slightest. Still happy in her own little world and being taught separate doesn't mean your not allowed to talk with trainee ninjas."

Oassu paused in silent agreement with Hayate "Well I'm surprised to think of a fiend being scared of anything really, I thought cactuars were meant to be more sociable creatures anyway" he said somewhat surprised by how tame the critter was "Gilgamesh's dog certainly acts more ferocious" he remarked linking hands with Felina once she'd rejoined the group.
Gil nodded "I suppose that's fine, just seems weird but it's a whole different culture than what I'm used to, I suppose in a village where people are born to be mercenaries it's inevitable" he said spying Satoshi's family with Enkidu in tow as they shimmied in costume towards them.
Itaka nodded "I'm sure that's why we should bounce out now, beat the families to the restaurant" he said turning Annabelle to follow Chobi out of the crowd before taking the lead "I'm sure I could though it's hardly something I care to try" he said turning down another street away from the noise "You should run in there and get some greens for the girls" he said pointing to a pet shop while taking the reins from Seph.
Jeckhart raised his eyebrow somewhat surprised at Mu's request "You'd have to stay in Yithra alone I imagine, Amane isn't allowed to stay away from the village for more than few days and I imagine it will take some time for the circus to cross the desert without an airship" he said
Zadina smiled "Well you can keep that one though I'm surprised your father knows so much about mechanics" he said petting Merric who had been dozing quietly in his cloak "Well he's too tired anyway, must've been all the excitement and running around he did yesterday too used to standing in a stable I'll bet" he giggled quietly.

Mu shrugged unphased by Jeckhart's remarks "It would take about a month. Two at most and we would be all set. Besides, never said I planned on staying in Yithra the whole time. I'm quite a well travelled lady. Learned from the best how to get by" she added glancing in Alpha's direction.
"Yeah... you'll have to do better than that to get her to stay away. She's been plotting this for several days now. It's just convenient as to where you are going that we won't be far behind" Aethys confessed having already had a long conversation with his fiancé about it. "She basically just wants a free holiday not that I mind" he added sliding an arm around her waist.
Alpha rolled his eyes "Well that's just typical, part of me would love to dump you on Psy's doorstep for that" he teased shaking his head slightly "Just don't make a mess of the airship and don't pack the entire caravan an I'll be fine with it"
"The more the merrier I say. It's not like we wont have plenty room in the airship for one more during this trip since most of our usually guests are back at their homes" Hebal cheered a little surprised that Aethys wasn't joining them since those two were a couple.
Runide licked her lips but shook her head at Amane "No no its your gift it's decided. It would probably just end up being chewed on if left around some of my family. But why the surprise? Technology and the like has been my dads lifes work. We cat demons may only live a couple of hundred years but theres still plenty time to master skills."
Amane smiled but soon turned into a frown at Runide's last words "Is that all? I thought demons loved longer than that. I mean that's the same amount of time that viera live for if not shorter cause we get to about 300. Thanks for the gift guys"

Nares snickered "fiends are scared of a lot of things, otherwise demons would be a lot more dangerous creatures. The centaurs openly kill fiends so good enough reason for a small cactuar to not like 'em. Only the ones at the top of the food chain don't worry about thinks" she defended Nal only just realising he had somehow managed to have the flower removed that Corella put on his head.
Corella on the other hand noticed instantly and quickly replaced the flower much to Felina's amusement. "I think Nal is pretty sociable really. I mean look at him now. He looks like he absolutely despises wearing that flower but he's doing a good job of not getting mad at my sister" Felina whispered to Oassu.
Nares gave Nal a whistle and gestured for him to take the lead through the forest "Not any desert in the forest Hayate and some might argue theres something quite creepy about the sneaking in the baths part" she teased him moving forward "Some fiends are naturally hostile and some aren't. That Enkidu is probably one of the more aggressive of fiends."
Satoshi snickered looking at Ikota yapping away at them as they approached "Well theres no fooling that pup, he clearly knows who we are underneath these costumes. But when most mercenaries work in their own little groups and families anyway whats the difference if a whole village is in on it" she added about to continue until receiving another suffocating hug from her father despite the costume barrier.
"Hey there you two happy dragon festivals and nice costumes. Your clones really pulled off a good job so be sure to reward them with a little fun later" Yuki sung gliding that little bit closer to them. "Nice dancing too though don't think the judges knew what to make of it. Crowd liked it at least"

Oassu smiled barely holding back a snicker with his hand seeing Nal ssemingly sulk a little as he took off in his little dancey way "Well sure Enkidu is pretty aggressive but he's a lupine fiend so a predator, I guess cactuars aren't so aggressive" he said "Still are we moving off now?" he asked glancing at Nares.
Gil smiled "Well probably smells us" he said noticing Enkidu was sitting with some distance between him and Ikota seemingly trying to not look at the pup "Well thank you happy dragon festival to you too" he said lifting his costume up so he could see better "Though yeah the clones definitely deserve a reward for making these" he said happily petting Enkidu as he padded slowly over to them "I hope he was well behaved for you and not too much trouble" he said kneeling down to ruffle Enkidu and Ikota's fur.
Jeckhart nodded somewhat surprised as well that Aethys wasn't joining as well "You certainly seem to be taking on a lot of guests on the ship lately Alpha," he said "It's fortunate you have so much space on the ship for now" he said
Zadina nodded "Well different species of demons live for different year spans, Mr Jeckhart, Miss Seph and Cap'n Alpha all probably have different life spans too" he said sighing slightly knowing he'd probably outlive both his friends "Still we'd best go see if we can see the others before we go" he suggested to Amane.

Aethys leaned forward whispering to Alpha "Just don't agree to go shopping with her in Yithra unless you want to be subjected to hours of her trying to find a wedding dress and I would bet you would be bored pretty quickly" he warned having worked out that was one of her motives for traveling.
Hebal nodded with Jeckhart "Yeah the extra space means that not everyone has to bunk up through choice but in most of the rooms there is enough for3 people to sleep there. More like 5 in the captain's room and still have plenty space left over. Soundproofing the rooms is great too since I can make all the armour I want"
Mu snickered "Size really doesn't matter to me anyway. I am a contortionist and had to spend a week sleeping in a chest of draws training for that so even if it was cramped I am sure I could squeeze in somewhere"
Alpha let out a small groan but managed to mumble "Im sure I could live with it being a special occasion" before getting up "Right then I think its best we gather the kids and take off now. So Aethys, if I don't see you before we take off. You take care and try not to injure yourself too much this time" he smirked placing a hand on his shoulder.
Runide tilted her head "Oh is it time for you to go already? Guess the day goes fast. But demons have such a big lifespan variation as well as appearance. Some even live longer than elves if they keep themselves in good shape. We have a 4500 year old fortune teller though he can no longer go out in daylight cause it damages his skin"
Amane gasped "Well that's weird but explains why his place was so dark when we visited and all we saw while in there was a giant hand" she mumbled glancing around at the time "Well must be lucky to see so many changes happen in the world over all those years"
Seph nodded "Sure I could get some greens for them, would keep Chobi entertained for about five minutes once inside heh but while I am buying them its your job to look after her and I think shes wanting more attention. If not careful she's going to end up quite a needy thing" she laughed releasing her tail fom Chobi' beak which the bird had grabbed to try and stop her entering the shop.

Nares nodded "Yep we're moving back out. Taking a somewhat different route this time directly to the palace since I am assuming some of you might want to get changed before going out to enjoy the festival. I need to speak with his highness anyway about a few things. But you are right, cactuars are not predators just well protected from threats. As a whole most wont harm you if you keep your distance and don't scare them" she explained directing them further east for their return.
Felina raised her eyebrow but didn't question the change of plans and instead followed Nares through the trees. "Well I guess that makes sense, who would want to eat something with so many needles anyway?"
"Cactuars actually have a lot of water stored inside them. Cut one open and you have a water supply. When desperately thirsty in the heat of the desert if they weren't good at defending themselves they would be killed all the time for that reason alone. It's not a fun task but worth it if near death from dehydration anyway" Hayate quietly added with a small shudder having known this from experience.
Satoshi shook her head "Trust me praise alone is enough, they are technically me after all and taking them out for dinner and giving them presents is always going to fall into my hands" she laughed petting Ikota in the very brief moment of freedom she had.
Yuudai snickered watching Ikara's grasp tighten around his daughter "Happy dragon festival and dad says the same. Your costumes were pretty good though nothing personal but I think I liked Hitomi's one more with the tiny head and small-" he got cut off with a gasp not having expected his dad to drag him into the hug with Satoshi.
Yuki paused patting Enkidu once most others were out the way "Oh he was no bother, just sat still and watched the show though I think Miyu finds him intimidating" she answered indicating to the small poodle hiding behind her legs. Aleo and Ikota however don't seem to have any bother with him"

Oassu nodded waving goodbye at the remaining centaurs on the outskirts of camp as they began to move out "Well that's why they are such fast runners I guess though I doubt anyone dying of dehydration would be in any condition to catch a cactuar" he said
Gil chuckled seeing Ikara crush his children "Well that's fine, I doubt he's too fond of Ikota though, I saw him nudging her away" he said petting Ikota as well "Still where is the other little brother Haru? Did he join the parade?" he asked.
Jeckhart frowned not really understanding what previous injuries Aethys had suffered but shrugged it off before bowing goodbye "It was a pleasure to meet you Aethys, please give you brother my regards next time you see him" he said.
Zadina also gasped remember the person "Wow that's amazing to think we were in the presence of such an ancient being!" he said somewhat in awe "Though it won't be as nice as you think I bet, you'd see a lot of people pass on that way" he added quietly to Amane "Still lets get out of this dark place it's too warm in here when it's this sunny" he complained wanting to change the subject.
Itaka nodded "They deserve a lunch too," he sighed petting Chobi "Honestly girl it's not like you to be this needy, would think you'd be calmer now you have all those other chocobos to play with back home" he said as Annabell headbutted Chobi in an attempt to cheer her up.

Hebal smiled shaking Aethys hand "Well that's good advice to anyone not to get injured. But you take care and have a really good dragon festival. And I'll be seeing you shortly later" she added to Mu eventually releasing hands. to follow after the rest of the group. "Well I think your daughter has made a good choice of partner. He's cool and I would totally approve of someone like that in my family" she told Alpha once out of earshot.
Alpha chuckled but nodded her head "Oh I know I could do far worse. I always approved of Aethys. They are a good match and while he's a bit lazy from time to time he gets his a** in gear when he has to. Also nice to know I'm not the only one looking out for her"
Chobi headbutted her companion back but kwehed quietly to herself and Itaka before cautiously shuffling towards the shop door so she could headbutt the door open for a peek at Seph. "Ok ok relax, girl. Can't be with you all the time" she laughed turning back away exchanging her gil with the shopkeeper who complimented the birds appearance as she left to re-join Itaka.
Runide giggled "Well yeah hes ancient but hes a bit of a rambler now though occasionally comes out with a good story or two. But ok back into the sunlight.... the nearest exit is back the way we came" she directed them first making sure to check ever machine nearby for any forgotten change "Ooh we're in luck, someone forgot these" she grinned picketing about 10gil.
Amane scratched her head watching Runide "Umm what are you doing there, aren't those machines meant to take your gil not give you more?" she gasped trying to retrace their steps by following the light. I bet these games make people really hot and sweaty in this weather"

Hayate shook his head "In most cases no but it is doable for while cactuars are fairly bright creatures they do have a few flaws to them. I've only had to do it once and hopefully never again. It's usually pretty painful success or not. Don't underestimate what lengths a person will go to in order to stay alive that little bit longer. I think our little list is a good example of that" he pondered.
Nares nodded "I guess that's true. Just got to be careful to stay away from a nest of them. Though its the big ones that interest me. I have no idea how they get so huge but If I could get hold of and tame one of those I'm sure I could do some serious damage with it"
Felina groaned "You know dad would be pretty fuming if you let one like that into the forest. Would have to get yourself a bigger pen outside the forest for one of those its no secret that there are a lot of people still a little uncomfortable with your work even if you are really good at it" she quickly added not wanting to cause offence.
Yuki shook her head "Nah he said he wanted to go out with his friends instead. He's going through that stage of being too cool to be seen going out in public with his parents. He'll appreciate it more when he's older. Its a good atmosphere don't you think? Or is this sort of thing something that you like" she asked Gil while Satoshi gasped for air the moment she was released.

Oassu nodded "I suppose so but perhaps Nal will grow that big one day though I've never heard of a big cactuar" he said walking along "I think that's the general case with any beastmaster though Felina, I mean Mari makes me nervous with her little pets even if we do know her well enough" he admitted.
Gil nodded inside the costume "I quite like the anonymity, it's something I normally don't get given my appearence but does that mean he's participating in the festival with his friends?" he asked turning around to look at some of the larger dragons in the back moving onto be judged.
Itaka frowned reining in Chobi "Hey girl come on now ease up a little" he sighed shaking his head disapprovingly "I think she's becoming overly attached to you if she's doing stuff like that, if she'd damaged that door it wouldn't be so funny" he muttered handing the reins back to Seph when she approached.
Zadina nodded "I wouldn't enjoy spending long times in here in this weather but it's probably more enjoyable in colder places" he said hopping out into the sun enjoying the gentle breeze slightly "As nice as it is here I am quite excited to return to the forests of home" he said bouncing slightly with excitement.
