"Oh," Judith invited him in, closing the door behind the boy. "Dear, has anyone ever told you that you have wonderful hair?" she asked, walking him to her husband. "Although, you do look a bit over due for a trim..." she smiled, pulling out the scissors from her apron.
"Now, now!" Joeseph stood up hastily, nearly dropping his hat, "Honey, go continue cutting Janie's hair. I'll help with him." He pushed his wife along, then spun his bowler hat onto his head and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Now then!" the man coughed, placing a hand on Mike's shoulder, "Interested in an Omanyte fossil, eh?" he laughed happily, "The name's Joeseph Ranmo! It's a pleasure to meet you...what's your name, anyway?" his mustache twitched lightly.
The man in the brown suit also stood up. He had grey hair that curled up at the tips and a very small pair of glasses on his round nose. Like Mr. Ranmo, his bushy mustache seemed to twitch. His neck was very fat to accomodate for his chubby head. He held out a hand to shake the guest's.
"AH! Yes!" Joeseph smiled, letting Mike go and standing next to his large companion, "Stranger, meet Marvin Grossberg. He's the one who aides me the most in my excavations and handles all my legal matters."

Not liking the fact that she wasn't going to battle and instead was distracting the other pokemon Levi decided to do something about it. Turning around the Mudfish pokemon faced her enemy, it was a strange spiky ballon that glared at her through weird eyes. Growling she swam towards it and slamming her small body into the pokemon. Upon impact she realized that perhaps this wasn't the best move as the spikes on its body dug into her soft skin. Holding back a small cry Levi made to swim away but found herself nto moving quite so fast and a pain spreading through her. Unknown to her she had fallen victem to the other pokemon's Poison Point ability.
Dispite all this Levi wasn't going to go down with out a fight. Diving down to the bottom of the 'lake', and effectivly avoiding another round of Poison Sting attacks. Gathering herself Levi gathered as much mud around her as she could. When the spiny fish came near she did her best attempt of a Mudslap attack underwater. It was lucky that the dirt clumped like it did or it would have never worked.
Recoiling from the attack the spiny fish glared at its small opponant, who looked much worse for wear then he did. Puffing itself up the spiky fish shot out a Water Gun attack at the baby Mudkip. Even though she could sense the attack the poison was really starting to wear on her and she found herself being pressed to the ground by the attack.
Growling and using all the streanght she could muster Levi gathered the mud around her and slapped it up again at her enemy. Not even seeing her attack connect Levi found herself becoming lighter and lighter as she started to float up to the surface. Luck must have been on her side because her opponant happened to be weak against ground type attacks and after both the Mudslaps and Levi's tackle attack it found itself floating up to the top as well. Oh my god, no way! Nina thought, Oracle'd be knocked out if she gets hit by that! What can I do?! After a second of quick thinking, the girl ordered her Pokemon to do the first thing that came to mind.
"Oracle! Don't get hit by that attack-- Blast it with a Psybeam and see if you can knock it back to Tara!"
Quickly outstretching her arms and bringing them close enough together so that the necks of her spoons formed an X, Oracle unleashed a beam of multicolored energy, shooting it directly toward the oncoming beam. The two attacks connected midway, and the force of each one was pressing against the other, in an attempt to push it back. There was a bit of an even balance in the power of both attacks; while Oracle's Psybeam was weaker in power, the Pokemon herself was rather strong; Tara, however, was using a much more powerful attack, but it was taking a lot out of her to continue using it. Sparks began to fly as the Hyper Beam was overtaking the Psybeam--
--but then the Psybeam was pushing the Hyper Beam back-- --and then Tara's attack was winning-- --but Oracle was overtaking her opponent-- --although, Tara wouldn't give up, not for a second-- --and Oracle wouldn't dream of surrendering either--
And then, the stubbornness that was coming from both competitors was too much. Oracle, who was usually a Pokemon in control of her powers, had unleashed all of her energy into making her Psybeam grow in her attempt to overtake Tara. The Miltank, on the other hand, was pouring so much of her own energy into her attack that she hadn't realized how quickly she was becoming fatigued. Due to the power overload, the beams caused an explosion with the magnitude that one would expect from an Electrode, or Weezing.
Both combattants had been blasted by the attack.
Both combattants fell to the floor, damaged critically from the attack.
And both combattants lie on the floor exhausted. Neither one moved.

"Thank you ma'am." said the boy at the compliment. "And no thank you." he remarked on the topic of the offered haircut. He liked it how it was, pleasantly shaggy. As Mr. Ranmo introduced himself and his legal assistant, Mike shook the larger man's hand, making sure to add a respectable amount of force in his grip. "My name is Mike sir, I'm a friend of your son Kilik." He said, withdrawing his hand from Grossberg. "And yes, I am very much interested in an Omanyte. I read about one online and they look like they'd be a great addition to my team." He smiled at the thought of the little shellfish on his team, and the surprised looks he'd get from trainers after sending out an extinct Pokemon into battle.

"Well, bravo for you boy!" Joeseph laughed, clapping his hands once or twice. "Between you and me, I'm a bit disappointed in my boy. Never really showed an interest in fossils. Shame really." He sighed and removed his glasses, cleaning them with a cloth from his brest pocket. "Now, these fossils are very rare. Are you willing to get your hands dirty to get one?"
Grossberg laughed slightly, "Now, Joeseph! You're making it sound like he has to kill to get one!" "Who's to say he doesn't?" Mr. Ranmo said in a very grim tone.
"Honey!" Judith called, "Don't frighten our guest!"

"Well, I always enjoyed archeology and the like sir." Mike said, recalling the mass of books on prehistory collecting dust in his shelf beside his nightstand. "Not to mention, my team could use the Rock/Water type to balance out my three Fire Pokemon." Mr. Ranmo's off handed comment about Kilik's choices sparked a slight look of annoyance within the boy, but he felt that talking back to him would not gain him any fossils quick. After the little exchange between the three adults, Mike felt a little confused. "I'm willing to dig with my bare hands and feet if I must sir." He said with clenched fists, nothing was going to get in his way of his new Omanyte.

"Sounds like a plan to me," Kasiya smiled nervously. Even though Keegan's self-diagnosis of her wound was rather accurate, she realized that each time she got hurt, it was worse than before. She took his hand and let him pull her to her feet, for a moment considering telling him that she was perfectly capable of carrying her own belongings, but since he was being chivalrous, she decided to let it go. Besides, it was nice to be treated like a lady every now and then.
She heard a yawn from Ariel, who had been sitting patiently nearby the entire time, and she recalled her faithful partner. Once again she missed her Raichu; the tawny mouse's company was always wonderful. Deciding that when they got back to the gatehouse, she would use the PC in the corner and swap her party around in order to make her final preparations for the battle with Nina, that way upon arriving in Saffron, there would be no delays when it came time to start.

As Poliwag carried out his battle with that Tauros, Crenu felt a familiar presence that sent a chill down his spine. “Damn…looks like I’ll have to wait till later to get that pokemon. Maybe we’ll meet again one you become stronger. Poliwag, return!” The red beam washed over the startled Poliwag and pulled him back into the ball and Crenu turned to run. “I’m leaving now, I suggest you do the same.” With that, he was gone as he ran through the thick dark forest. Just then, the attack came out of nowhere. A ball of blue flame crashed in front of Crenu which caused him to stop in place and look around for the assailant. “Stupid ghosts, no use hiding, I know it’s you guys. So come out and face me like instead of throwing fire at me from a distance like cowards!” As he expected, not one, not two, not even three pokemon appeared from the shadows. Haunters, Gengars, and Ghastlys all over. Crenu threw all three of his pokeballs in front of him and got ready to battle. "Alright Poliwag, Larvitar, Spinarak, Front and Center! Get ready to run on my command and be ready to turn and attack on a moments notice. Poliwag, jump into my arms, Spinarak, up on larvitar’s head. Understand!?” The three nodded, and Crenu stood waiting for the right moment before… “RUN!” The four of them sprinted across the forest floor, Crenu wished he could use his bike but they were going to fast to be able to accurately navigate a bike in a dark forest such as this, Poliwag speed ahead of Crenu for a few short seconds before he jumping up as Crenu bend down to scoop him up. Spinarak leaped into a tree and then back down onto larvitar’s head, taking position as she waited for her next command. Larvitar took charge and kept up to speed with Crenu as they ran, avoiding another will-o-wisp that barley singed Crenu’s back. The First set of ghost pokemon appeared in front of them, three Ghastlys and one Haunter sticking its tongue out menacingly. “Larvitar, Rock Throw now! Poliwag, Bubble attack to cover behind us!” Larvitar stopped for a second and Crenu turned around, Poliwag shooting bubbles wildly in the darkness in an attempt to fend off the oncoming ghosts. As Larvitar looked onwards at the ghosts in the three, one Ghastly shot forward with its ghastly tongue out and ready to attack. Larvitar began to glow and struck the ground, large pieces of earth and stone rising almost like a shockwave and being flung through the air, hitting the Ghastly directly and sending it soaring back as the other rocks plowed through the branches of the trees above scaring away the other three ghosts. “Now, lets keep moving!” Crenu turned again and Larvitar joined him in a full on sprint through the Ilex Forest.

"Really? Well I remember you," Ed said a bit surprised. "You were the cute girl with the Ralts. I'd know that purple tinted hair from anywhere." Mitsu's cheeks flushed a bit, turning a pretty shade of pink. "I guess my hair does stand out a bit," she said sounding a bit flustered. "No need to be all up tight! Relax!" he laughed poking her side. With a small yelp she jumped up a bit, flinching from the poke. "I hate being poked!" she said clutching her side. "Really now?" he said with a grin reaching over to poke her again. "No!" she cried with a sort of laugh blocking his attempt with her free arm. After a few more unsuccessful attempts he decided to give it up. For now at the least. "So who are you exactly?" Mitsu asked looking across the beaten path. "Me? C'mon don't tell me you don't remember me? The boy with the Solrock? Think Mitsu, use that big of yours!"

Nina, Whitney, and Raimundo stared on increduously. "Wh... whoa!" the boy exclaimed practically running over to the girls, as he had been on the sidelines since Lulu was knocked out, "Nina, Whitney! Did you know that that would happen? That was... awesome!" The blue-haired girl shook her head a little and recalled her Pokemon, watching Whitney do the same.
"I had no idea," she replied honestly. "I can honestly say that I've never seen anything like that before in my life." "Yeah... that was, like, completely and totally... wow." It seemed that since the battle had ended, Whitney reverted to her natural state-- maybe heated battles were what caused her to become so serious and intelligent? "You said it, Whit." The girl cracked her neck a little bit, and turned to look at the door, then back to her friends. "Well. I can say that that was one of the most memorable battles I've ever had... Now, whaddaya say that we head to the Pokemon Center and get these guys healed up?" She heard affirmative responses, and headed toward the door, her "'posse" close behind.
Swinging the door open and stepping outside, Nina looked to the sky, noticing the slowly setting afternoon sun. It'll be getting dark soon, she thought; hopefully Kassie will be here before then. Before too long, the trio found themselves walking along the streets of Saffron, a city that the psychic seemed to be frequenting as of late. They held a brief discussion about the battle to occupy their time as they walked, and it wasn't but five or ten minutes later that Nina, Whitney, and Raimundo found themselves at the door of the Pokemon Center. Walking inside, each trainer handed the Pokeballs that contained their afflicted Pokemon to Nurse Joy, who accepted them and walked into the back room with them on a tray, placing them into a machine with six slots and turning it on.
Back in the central room of the establishment, Nina found herself staring out a window, contemplating strategies to enact in her upcoming battle with her friend. Well, my strategy against Whitney and Rai didn't go too hot, she thought. I ended up taking massive damage before I was really able to do much. So, maybe I should change my team lineup... Instead of Anastasia, because Kasiya has Hiro, I should use... uh. Regal? No, he's too slow... So, maybe Xena instead? Yeah. So it'd be Mimien, Xena, and Oracle.
No, wait. That's not right either. She's got Fang, who's weak to Ice-type moves. So, maybe Anastasia, Xena, and Oracle...? Gah! I can't decide!

"All right then, let's head out." Keegan began to lead the way, being sure to keep at a steady yet not too quick pace - he didn't want to push Kasiya too hard. The sky was a beautiful shade of sapphire as they walked along, and he wondered if they'd make it to Saffron before they gym closed for the night. His stomach rumbled as well, and he realized he hadn't eaten anything since the Lava Cookie he'd had atop Mount Chimney with Sheena, and he resolved to correct that once they boarded the train.
Every so often he'd make sure Kasiya was all right, and when he was certain that she was, they'd continue, and they made it through the park and into the gatehouse with no problems. "I think we should rest here for a few minutes," he huffed, sitting on a chair and putting both packs on the ground, beads of perspiration tricking down the sides of his face.

"Watch out Sting!" Ky yelled as he saw the blast travel through the air. Sting tried as best as he could to get out of the way, but he couldn't quite get out of the attack's range. As the colors washed over him, Sting cringed from the pain. It felt like every nerve ending in his body had just been singed, sending him reeling back with a massive headache. As soon as it cleared, he glared at Bugsy's Butterfree, ready for payback.
Sting started to charge straight at the Butterfree until he heard Ky. "Wait Sting!" he yelled, stopping Sting in his tracks. "Use Focus Energy, now!" After a moment of hesitation, Sting obeyed, flexing his forearms to set up for his next attack. Little streams of energy then began to flow around him as he focused, watching Butterfree as it moved. Ky knew that Confusion had done a huge amount of damage to Sting. In order to strike back effectively, Ky knew that Sting would need to attack precisely and find some critical point. Otherwise, Ky would find himself forcing Little Guy to fight a 2-on-1 battle once Sting fell.

"Get outta the way Mitsu! Sheesh!" A group of small children ran by chasing after a soccer ball, pushing the small purple haired girl out of the way. "I'm gunna win!" a boy shouted kicking the black and white ball with all his strength. To say it missed by a mile would have been completely true, unless you were talking about the target being Mitsu. The speeding black and white ball rushed towards her, ready to knock her off her feet. The girl froze not knowing what to do. She hadn't even been in the middle of thier game, merely watching from the sidelines. "Solrock!" A voice shouted out. By the time she opened her eyes an orange floating r ock was in front of her, the soccer ball bouncing off harmlessly. "You okay Mitsu?" the voice asked. The frightened girl turned around to see the smiling dark haired boy. "Yeah. Thanks," she said looking down at the ground smiling shyly.

Ding.
Nina turned her head to look over at the front desk, to see Nurse Joy returning with the six Pokeballs on the tray she had carried them on. Turning and walking to her, Nina took back the three that she owned and stepped off to the side as her friends took theirs back. She reattached them to her belt and nodded towards the door, walking outside, Whitney and Raimundo close behind her.
She continued to mull over her choices of which team combination to use-- there were quite a few. Maybe Xena, Mimien, and Oracle...? No. Mimien, Anastasia, and Regal...? Anastasia, Xena, and Oracle... No, that's not it either... Gah! I just don't know! I've never felt so much pressure for one match before!
"...na? ...Nina!" The girl flicked her sister's head. "Agh. Sorry, Whitney. What did you say?" "I said, based on the way you had, like, battled us, you wouldn't have any trouble when you, fight Kasiya. Right?" Nina chuckled. "I'm not sure about that. Kasiya has really strong, well-trained Pokemon, and I don't know if I'll be faring that well against her. I'm still getting used to Sabrina's Pokemon. I mean, I was around a couple of them all the time when I was travelling with her, Oracle especially, but... I don't know. It must be weird for them to be getting used to having a new trainer." She cleared her throat a little.
"Besides which," she went on, "it's not like I get to see them very often, either. I can't take them out of the Gym and go on excursions with them or battle other people, except for the trainers that want to challenge me. Including Kasiya, that will only be three people." Rai looked over to his friend, a slightly confused look on his face. "You said that you can't take them out of the Gym, but here you are, walking around with their Pokeballs at your belt right now. What do you mean?" The girl was caught off-guard by this question. "Well... erm. It's not that I lack the ability to physically take them out of the Gym. It's just, I don't feel it's perfectly fair. After all, these are a Gym Leader's Pokemon, and they all have incredible strengths and abilities."

"Nina, are you, like, totally forgetting?" Whitney asked. "You're a Gym Leader so technically, Anna, Krystal, and everyone else that you own are the Pokemon of a Gym Leader as well, and you travel with them, like, all the time. Right?" "Well, yes, but--" "And, like, in reference to Sabrina's Pokemon, you just said that 'it must be weird for them to be getting used to having a new trainer.' That right there totally says that they are your Pokemon now. Right? "I suppose you're right, but--" "But nothing! Those Pokemon are yours, and you should, like, be able to do with them what you want! You totally shouldn't restrict yourself to, like, only being able to use them in the Gym. And if they've, like, got those 'incredible strengths,' you should take them with you!" "I--" "I'm not telling you to, like, take all five of them, because I know you wouldn't. Like... take Oracle, if anyone! She's the strongest of all of them, and she's like, proven to be a great Pokemon! Like, you saw what she did in that battle back there. Wouldn't you like her on your team?"
Nina sighed. "It's not that, Whitney," she replied. "I just wouldn't feel right using Pokemon that have been pre-trained to such lengths and then claiming that they were my own. It's a subject of having morals, I guess... Which, at the moment, I'm regretting having. What you're saying really is making sense." "Well," the girl said, "if that's how you feel, then, like... why not take one of them out for just a little while? You know, like, travel with it, get to learn about it. That way, when you do battle someone again, you'll, like, know more about its strengths and weaknesses and junk like that. Does that make sense?" It did. "Yeah. Maybe... maybe I will do that. Thanks." She smiled a little bit, and had been talking so much that she almost didn't realize the three of them had arrived back at the Gym.
