Lark was working her self to the bone there were bags under her eyes and she was becoming pale. She awakened early and went to bed very late and she got very little sleep in another week the pack would be here and the Christmas/ New Years celebration would begin so it was crunch time for her to get everything finished it was just the final piece that was taking the most time because it was Devon's gift and she wanted it to be absolutely perfect. She yawned her eyes becoming heavy she hoped everyone liked her gifts she was excited because this would be the first real Christmas would have in years. Lark had cloth over her finished work and the were waiting to be wrapped and placed under the tree. It couldn't hurt to get started as log as Devon swore not to look at anything but the tarp and not try to uncover it. She opened the attic door. "Devon could you come help me wrap these gifts and put them under the tree!"

Devon looked upstairs and made his way to where Lark was. "Sure. If I am allowed to look at them while I am wrapping. Or do I have to do it blindfolded?" he joked.

Lark laughed weakly. "I'm afraid you'll have to do to blind folded because your not allowed to peak so just keep your eyes on the tarp or else. She told him before letting him in.

Devon rolled his eyes. "Then expect the wrapping to be crumpled!" he said blunting, staring as the ceiling as he enter the attic. "Which one first?" he joked waving his arms around as if blind.

"If your going to act like that then I might as well blindfold you." Lark told turning his head to the present she wanted wrapped first. "All you need to is to hold it up and don't let it fall on me as I am wrapping them up. No. Peaking."

Devon laughed. "Alright." he replied doing as he was asked. He didn't feel like he was really doing much, but Lark seemed pleased with the progress. "Do you need to rest up before tonight? I assume you are done, right?"

"Why what's tonight, I still have to finish that last gift, then I have to wrap the finish ones and have you put them under the tree except for my dad's and the last one." Lark told him even though she was rocking on her feet and it was clear that she was running on fumes.

Devon thought. "I mean tomorrow. Sorry." he amended. He look down at the now wrapped gift before him and carefully picked some up to be taken downstairs.
"You should take a nap or something. You look terrible." he said, more than a bit worried. It wouldn't be the first time worked herself sick. She always seemed delicate.

When Devon made that comment about how she looked Lark naturally took it the wrong way and got upset. "Are you telling me that I don't look pretty? Are you calling me ugly?" She asked him beginning to cry

Devon looked at her blankly, then looked panicked. "NO! No. I didn't mean that! You always look beautiful, Lark." he said, rubbing her arms to calm her down. "You just look exhausted."

Lark pushed him away. "Just go away, I have to get back to work." She sniffed dismissing him angrily she was hurt he said such a thing and under the hurt she was a little angry at him. Couldn't he see that she was trying to make it a happy Christmas for both of them it was there first Christmas after all. "Go away I don't want to see you again tonight."

Devon tried to grab her hand. "Lark, I am sorry. You know I didn't mean that." he told her. "I am so sorry. I wasn't thinking." He tried to get her to look at him. "It was no what I intended."

"You never say anything you don't mean." She repeated what he had told her in what felt like years ago. Lark was very upset and she cut him off emotionally and she wouldn't look at him nor did she allow him to take her hand. "Please just go I don't want to see you at all anymore tonight." Lark told him again

Devon started to say something, but saw that Lark was having none of it. So he backed off for now and let her be. He walked back down, feeling like a complete idiot for the slip. It didn't help that she always blocked him out when she was upset.

When Devon had exited the attic she slammed the door behind him because it made her feel a bit better and she knew the sound would hurt his sensitive ears at such close range. Only after locking the door and turning on the radio did she allow the sobbing to start as she curled up on the floor of the attic and cried her eyes out
