7-10 developed paragraphs...okay now that's just showing off you're literate skills. What are they doing writing a group novel?
PostPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 4:33 pm

That's actually something I wonder about. How does one get such long and extensive posts?

I usually try to describe some stimuli that my character perceives if they have a reaction to it, and what they are doing at the moment in time. If their stimuli don't change then I won't bother to bring them up, and if their tasks or actions don't change I give those little mention, so my posts get shorter till the scenery changes.

Unless what occurs in my posts takes more than a minute It's difficult to stretch more than one paragraph. I've been stuck on a few consecutive 3-5 sentence posts if my character is interacting with another and is giving them undivided attention.

Anyhow, without controlling multiple characters, or stretching time over several minutes to hours, how does one get those daunting rooks of text in an RP?

Not to mention I wouldn't be able to get through so much text unless what they wrote was really interesting or very simplistic.

If it's emo go to their party and start cutting yourself in front of everyone. Bleed all up in their punch bowl.

Yeah I'm stereotyping and I'm not ashamed to say it.

the ones who went to the party were all punk... I said my character was punk only because that's the only one that really fit. She follows her own rules, has her own style and doesn't really give a s**t about authority. She's a hard-headed troublemaker =/ I know that's probably not exactly punk but it's the best that fit and no one seemed to question it.

People who post once in an rp and either leave people waiting for weeks afterward without any kind of reason or never post ever again in that thread also without explaination

Hmm still wreck it! If you think you're going to leave the RP anyhow leave it with a one hell of a bang! I know that's a rp etiquette no no but I'm vindictive.

Ah I'm about to get my hair dyed again and I'm told I can't scratch it (which I know) but being told that I can't do it makes it itch so much!

Back on subject what counts as punk nowadays anyhow? There are too many things going on I can't tell.

Biggest pet peeve ever: I find an RP thread with an interesting story. It looks like fun. I would like to enter. I read the rules.

"LOL 7-10 DEVELOPED PARAGRAPHS PER POST"

Cue pages and pages of huge textwalls in tiny little fonts.

Just... what is this, I don't even... gonk

I do not understand. It gets really hard to respond gracefully to those long-a** posts. Sometimes one or two paragraphs is enough, and on rare occasions, a one-liner will do. I'm sorry, I thought we were writing a collaborative story, not having a contest to see how many words we can churn out.

I guess some people enjoy it (I sure as hell see enough of it) but it's frustrating because this seems to almost be the definition of "literate" around here. D8

 /ˈlɪtərɪt/ Show Spelled[lit-er-it] Show IPA
–adjective
1.
able to read and write.

That is close to the one I use. My usual one mentions how it is coherent to others as well.

eh, I'm just kind of fed up of my character being by herself when she knows practically no one... usually when I join an rp she meets a lot of people and hangs around those people or talks to new people until the rp dies =/

That's why I hate joining RPs where most of the people there are friends. You feel like the fifth wheel. It feels as if they are only tolerating you as a favor to the friend who invited you.

Again 'helping' someone with a story.

I think I've mentioned before how my friend and I talk and toss ideas back and forth sometimes. I had an idea for a story but I didn't that the time to write it so he decided to. I was saying how odd it is that you get all of these symbolic coming of age stories for the girls but none for the guys.

A few months later and a bit of talking back and forth later we come down to the finished product and I feel like all of the things I've told him and explained to him he's ignored. I think I came up with a good climatic ending but he's dulled it down to a rather anticlimactic and unsatisfactory end.

Am I just being too uptight about this?

Yikes, and I'm just peeved that I tried to help get people for a RP recently and the creator showed no interest in trying to get people with the OOC recruit thread, or anything. She just moved to a different project with no warning at all leaving me disappointed because it seemed like one of a few good yaoi RPs. Now... different RP in sig link.

Why is it that every female character I find with D or larger cup size is a One-dimensional bimbo? I mean, can't a female character have a DD rack AND be an well-thought out, fun to play with person? This borders on a pet-peeve of mine...It's not there yet.

I don't know. I think it's another one of those stereotypes. Blondes are stupid, big boobs equals no brains, and so on and so forth.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 29, 2010 8:00 pm

Yeah, I think villains receive the same treatment. Especially villains with big boobs. I'd like to see a magnificent b*****d evil chick with the most common superpower emerge in an RP. I suppose the overall age category of Gaia makes that possibility exceedingly low though.

I'd think you'd have the skill to make an RP for that that would work, Phaeton.
