Jaeshan watched Keegan with Helios, shifting a bit on his feet. His eye twitched a bit at being called 'Jae' as only a few people could call him that without it being weird or degrading. "I don't know... three each, I guess? That's fairly standard. But first..." In a few strides he'd crossed the battlefield, his long legs easily eating up the distance between him and Keegan. He had to step around the debris left over from Combusken's Rock Slide as well, and once he'd reached them he crouched down in front of Helios. He opened his backpack and searched through it for a moment, withdrawing two Sitrus Berries and holding them out to the Vulpix. "Eat these, Helios," he told the fox gently. "They'll restore your energy."
Beldum, meanwhile, hovered alongside his trainer, occasionally zipping off erratically to the side. At first Jaeshan ignored his behavior, assuming it was just Beldum's way of showing that he was more comfortable around his new trainer. However, when Beldum nearly took his head off, Jaeshan felt obliged to pay attention to him. "Beldum, what the heck is up with you?" he asked, ducking as Beldum flew overhead once again. All at once Beldum dropped down to the sand, staring up at Jaeshan for a moment before closing his single, red eye. His body began to emit a bright, glowing light and he began to undergo a transformation. Jaeshan had to cover his eyes from the light but when it faded, Beldum was no longer there. Instead, a round, saucer-like Pokemon had taken his pace, with two long arms extending out from either side, each ending in sharp claws. The Pokemon seemed to be very proud of itself, and Jaeshan was speechless as he reached for his PokeDex and scanned it.
"Metang, the Iron Claw Pokemon. The evolved form of Beldum, its claw-tipped arms pack the destructive power to tear through iron sheets as though they were silk. It floats using magnetism, and even colliding with a jet-plane will not scratch Metang's hard body."
"Beldum... you evolved! I mean... uh... Metang! This is so cool! Congratulations, Metang!" Jaeshan grinned. Metang spun happily in the air and extended a clawed arm for Jaeshan to shake, which he did. Evolution seemed to have calmed him down though, and before Jaeshan could even put his PokeDex away Metang touched his Pokeball and recalled himself. "Okay... that was odd," Jaeshan said with a shrug.
=-=-=-=-= After the initial influx of trainers had died down, Nurse Joy's backup nurses arrived, making things at the Pokemon Center in Slateport run a lot smoother. Her schedule now free, the nurse-wannabe returned the uniform and headed back out into the main lobby, looking around the area with keen interest. No one paid her any attention, which felt surprisingly odd yet freeing all at the same time. She leaned up against the far wall, just waiting for now. After a moment or two she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She scrolled through her contacts for a bit before selecting a number and pressing dial. Holding the phone up to her ear she couldn't help but smile a bit. "Ampy, my old friend, I wonder what you're up to today," she murmured as it began to ring.

"Three works for me," Keegan shrugged, wondering what on earth Jaeshan was doing now. For a minute he thought the blonde was going to slug him but when he knelt down in front of Helios he relaxed. Helios sniffed at the berries and looked up at his trainer. "Sitrus Berries," he told the fox. "Go ahead. They're good for you." Helios looked back up at Jaeshan and grinned before eating the berries one by one. He couldn't explain it but it felt as though he were fully recharged. He didn't have much time to reflect on how good he suddenly felt because Jaeshan's crazy Beldum was shooting around them like a balloon that had lost all of its air.
"What the hell?" Keegan exclaimed, being sure to duck just in case the wayward Beldum came his way. A few moments and a bright light later Beldum had transformed into a Metang, and Keegan stood up, staring at the newly evolved Pokemon with interest. "Oh, so that's a Metang," he said. "I've heard about them but never actually seen one. I also didn't know Beldum evolved into Metang," he admitted. Man, Jaeshan is lucky. Someday that thing is gonna evolve all the way to a Metagross. Those things are amazing...
Helios watched Metang with an unimpressed look. Big deal, so it evolved. He could evolve too, if he wanted to. The fox glanced up at his trainer, feeling his heart sink a little as he saw the envious look the redhead wore. Maybe staying as a little Vulpix wasn't good enough. Perhaps if he became a Ninetales, then he'd be strong enough to help Keegan win more battles. Perhaps.
Seemingly reading the Vulpix's mind, Keegan scooped him up in his arms. "Since it was my idea to battle in the first place, I'll choose first," he said, snatching up Artemis' Pokeball and sending it flying. The Swellow appeared in a flash of light, twirling and looping in the air happily. She came to land on the ground in front of her trainer, who she turned to with a questioning look. "Yup, it's that time again," he told the bird fondly. Artemis screeched happily and flapped her wings, kicking up a cloud of sand around her. She was ready for action.

He had been asleep for maybe twenty minutes tops when the ring of his pokenavi woke him up, again. Groaning Ampersand roused his lazy feeling body and reaching into his pocket, he still wasn't in a bathing suit, and pulled it out. He stared through tired eyes at the little screen for a second trying to figure out who exactly was calling him. When he finally realized who it was he raised a dark eyebrow before flipping it open and putting it to his ear. "What is it with people waking me up." He groused to the woman on the other side of the line. Pushing his hat back he rubbed his eyes tiredly, it really seemed like he wouldn't be getting any sleep today. "So since the gods seem to be against me sleeping what can I do for you beautiful?" He grinned slightly on his side of the line. He knew she was still a bit angry at him for the extended no talking to her and then suddenly showing up again and asking for a favor.

The sound of Hans' howl made Sasha's skin crawl. "Ugh!" she shivered, sticking her tongue out in distaste. But as the Ember attack connected, she couldn't help but smile. "Une!" she called out, holding up a finger. If Kirsa could speak in different languages, so could she. Her family was mostly French, and she had been home schooled in it since she was a kid. This would be fun. "Flammèche!" She called out, putting a fist in front of her mouth and flicking all her fingers out. "Brûler la brûlure de bébé!" She smiled. Mike would have liked that.
The Ninetales racked her brain for a moment, it had been a long time since she had been given commands in French. However, Sasha's little demonstration quickly sparked her memory, and she was good to go. She must have said it differently to confuse the other girl. Pretty clever, she thought. Kitsune reared back in a ready position and exhaled another dotted spray of fire at the Houndour.
---
Mike hadn't been out for a few minutes before he was woken up by the overly cheerful Sneasel. He groaned as the sunlight tried its best to seep through his closed eyes. After a moment of adjusting to the light, the boy sat up and opened his eyes. "Hey there." he said to the Pokemon. "Nice weather eh?" It was always tough talking to a Pokemon that couldn't really talk back.

Jaeshan vaguely remembered the Swellow from before, but then again it might have been from someone else. He couldn't help but note the contrast in personalities though. Artemis was so happy-looking, and well, Keegan was not. Jaeshan thought for a moment, remembering the confident smirk the redhead had just now, and smiled to himself. This probably isn't the smartest of choices for several reasons, but after that last fight I think that boy needs to be knocked down a peg or two. "All right Butterfree, I choose you!" The lovely butterfly was freed from her Pokeball, and the small crowd that had hung around after Mike and Kilik's battle seemed to close back in on them, interested in a second fight. Jaeshan could hear the mixed murmurs coming from the people about his choice of Pokemon, although he knew the risks involved long before he even grabbed Butterfree's Pokeball. There was the obvious Flying-versus-Bug weakness, as well as the fact that the Swellow would be enjoying a speed advantage over Butterfree. Butterfree also shouldn't use her Stun Spore or Poisonpowder on Artemis, because that would force her Guts ability to kick in, he thought. After all, a Taillow could have been the first Pokemon he ever captured, it was only fair that he'd studied up on it beforehand.
"I don't suppose you'd mind if I made the first move?" Jaeshan asked somewhat tauntingly. "Start off with Harden, Butterfree!" he called. With a cry, Butterfree spat out a strand of silk that quickly spread out to cover her whole body. Within seconds it all seemed to meld together and harden into a sort of makeshift armor. Jaeshan folded his arms, waiting to see how Keegan would start things off.
=-=-=-=-= If she didn't know any better, she'd swear that she could hear him grinning right through the phone. "A bit of flattery isn't going to get you back on my good side, Amp," she replied playfully. "Anyway, you called me and I'm here. I just thought I'd let you know." She paused for a moment, but smiled into the phone even though she knew Ampersand couldn't see it. "By the way Amp, after this I own your soul." With that she hung up and stowed it back in her pocket. Not really sure what to do next, she left the Pokemon Center anyway, figuring that walking around to get the lay of the land would be better than wasting this gorgeous day indoors.

The military girl didn't seem bothered by the Houndour's howl but when Sasha gave out her next command - in French - she looked taken aback for a few moments; then Kirsa began to laugh. "Well, well! I was certain that I would be the only one able to give out orders in something other than English, but it appears not! I am quite pleasantly surprised." Though one probably couldn't tell just by listening to her talk, English was not her first language.
The Houndour was confused by the command Sasha gave. He couldn't understand it! But it soon became clear just what she had told the Ninetails to do, because there was another volley of fire coming his way. This time, he wouldn't be cocky; he was ready for it. Hans skittered out of the way, making a successful dodge.
Good, he had made the dodge! But that didn't mean they could relax. Thrusting her arm out to point at Kitsune, Kirsa barked out her next order. "Try to make her weaker! Smog!" That was a move he had not used for Kirsa yet. Hopefully it would pack a punch, so she would have trust in the move. Hans breathed out a jet of what looked like purple, condensed mist-cloud, which floated menacingly toward the Ninetails.

M.A. had turned to Robin by then and offered her the spare towel her mother must have somehow magicked into her relatively small shoulder bag, seeing that her newfound friend didn't have one. Before she had a chance to answer her question regarding the Wingull, however, one of the angry birds swung low and pecked her hard on her head, creating a nice loud hollow sound.
"Ouch!" the young girl protested, rubbing the site of impact rather woefully and instinctively grabbing onto her bag tighter with her other hand. "What was that for? Gee, why are they so mad? Calm down!" Her raised voice, however, did not seem to ease the birds any, and instead they began to squawk louder and swarm more feriously. Although they were moving pretty quick, however, she could discern that there were about six of them, one larger and more angry than the others -- the ring-leader?
As the six began to descend once more upon M.A. and Robin, the former did the only thing that made sense to her -- grab her friend's hand and escape! "RUN," she yelled rather unnecessarily, as the other birds began to tail them. Maybe running away wasn't the best idea, but ah well... Spectators looked on curiously, and in the direction they were heading she saw some familiar flame-trunks, but she was too busy watching where she was going to know.
Meanwhile, Daemyn's ears twitched backwads, having caught M.A.'s voice in the sound. Upon turning around, he noticed his trainer and her friend running from a flock of Wingull. Gee whiz. How he managed to bump heads with trouble was beyond him... But with a sharp yelp to alert Ulani, the two made their long way towards their fleeing trainer, Ulani slowing both of them by her bumbling laughter.

Lairon took the attack full force and nearly felt nothing. Sure, it hurt, but the attacker must not have been that strong. If he could smirk, he would. The beast tossed Hitmontop into the air with a flick of his head. He watched his opponent ragdoll in the air. Kilik snapped his fingers. "Alright, now attack again! Take Down!" He eyed the Pokemon as it began falling to the ground. "Go!"
"You're not going to show me any mercy are you?" she laughed, placing her hands on her hips. "Fair enough. I'll be sure to return the favor!" She winced when the Take Down crashed into her Hitmontop again, and jumped out of the way when he blasted past her. The Fighting-type landed with a thud in the sand, but jumped right back to get into the action. He spun along the ground on his spike until he was back with his trainer.
"You should know," Kilik smirked, "that when Lairon battles, there's no such thing as mercy!" The boy crossed his arms over his chest. Battling Rena brought back a few memories of training with her while working with Team Rocket. His Pokemon weren't very strong then, but it was valuable experience.
Again, she laughed. She had never fought against his Lairon before, but she definitely remembered what happened when he caught it. She had never seen a trainer want a Pokemon so badly - the boy was hospitalized for about two days afterward. That Lairon was a bloodthirsty monster before he was finally tamed by Kilik. Without a doubt, that was the one point in her life when she was most afraid and it wasn't even for her. "Hitmontop, go with a Triple Kick!" The top jumped into the air at the command, and began spinning vertically instead of horizontally.
He gave an intimidating roar, as if to say 'Bring it on!' He dug his feet into the sand and tightened his body. Hitmontop landed on him and hit him once with both feet, then a third time with his tail. After that one-two-three assault, he planted his heels right on Lairon's forehead and jumped off. It was like a ballet just how smoothly he landed on his spike at Rena's side. That hurt a lot more than he thought it would. He took a few steps back, shaking from the damage, but still managing to stand up. What he didn't expect from that Triple Kick was for each hit to be more powerful than the last. He growled. Hitmontop was going to pay for that one.
"Thanks for training with me, Rena!" he called out, "Once Lairon evolves, I'll be able to get on with training with Elekid to make him change too!" Kilik gave the girl a thumbs up. "Anything to help, babe." She winked.

This battle was getting more fun as it went on. It wasn't so much the actual fight, but watching Kirsa react to her in such a bewildered manner just made it all the sweeter. To be clear, there was no malice behind Sasha's actions; she just loved to be quirky and silly. If getting a rise out of people were a sport, she'd get the gold at the Olympics. "Merci beacoup mon amie. Vous êtes très gentil" Sasha grinned at the expected compliment. "But flattery, while appreciated, will not help you in this fight. Kitsune, power through that Smog with your Lance-flamme!" As soon as the words left her mouth she realized just how silly mixed language sentences sounded.
The Ninetales eyed the slowly approaching flame with disgust. What a gross looking move; she'd be glad to get rid of it. Kitsune hopped to the side, lining up the purple cloud and Hans in her sight as she loosed a narrow Flamethrower. It pierced the small Smog attack, breaking it into small insignificant pieces. Sasha figured Hans would have no problem avoiding this attack, seeing as it was directed more at stopping the attack than an actual offense, but that was fine. She was more trying to keep the houndour on his toes than anything else. Pokemon battles could be hectic, and Sasha wanted Kisra to understand that. But every time she looked over at the girl and her steady and attentive expression, she knew that her new friend was used to dealing with high pressure situations. She had the eyes of someone who has the patience and drive to get what she wants, and nothing would rob her of it. Still, no harm in messin' with her when she's still green.

Shifting her pokemon in her arms Robin took the towel and quickly dried herself off before wrapping it around her chest. "Thanks." She said as she tucked it into the wrap so that it would hold. When that was done she held her pokemon closer to her in order to avoid the Wingull that were now swooping around them. "Urg so annoying! Raz this is all your fault!" Robin scolded. Raz just shrunk down slightly in her arms, he felt bad enough as it was.
Suddenly Robin felt a yank on her arm and looked over as M.A. started dragging her along with her. "Wah! M.A.! Where are we going?" She tried to keep her balance as she was dragged through the sand. ((short post is short))

As the somewhat difficult conversation with Riza's Sneasel dragged on, Mike became increasingly aware of a rather annoying sound making its way towards him. As they drew nearer, Mike recognized them as Wingull, a very loud and very irritating Pokemon. "Fantastic." He let out an unamused sigh and prepared to plug his ears. But as his lifted his hands, something caught his eye. They were moving awfully odd. It looked like they were swooping down, but why? The boy took a closer look, now a bit curious. To his surprise, he saw two girls running away in a panic. It was M.A.! And some...other red headed girl he had no knowledge of. They were running awfully fast, and that almost always meant trouble.
"Hero time." Mike stood up, grabbing an Ultra Ball from his strap. Normally, when he wanted to look cool in front of people, he would use Nitro, or Portabello, and most especially not THIS guy. But he had a feeling, the most distant, ever so slight idea. It was just crazy enough to work. "Just one second alright?" he said to the Sneasel. "I'll be back after I deal with this." The girls were close now, the birds hot on their heels. He waited until they passed him to start running. He broke into an all out sprint, tearing apart the sand as he ran. Thankfully, the beach wasn't too populated, most of the trainers and such were at the plaza. He flicked his wrist, a fireball forming in his right hand. Gotta time this just right. He looked into the flock, picking out the smallest target. That would get the other one's attention. "Eat this!" With a loud grunt Mike was airborne, clearing a couple sunbathing on their towels. He curved his arm like a discus thrower and released the ball of fire towards the weakest looking Wingull, spinning around and throwing the Ultra Ball with his opposite arm. "Beacon, take out those birds with your Thunderbolt, aim with your jewel!" The fireball tore through the sky like a flaming lance, striking the little Wingull with a very satisfying pop. It didn't even know what hit it. By the time the flock had turned around they were face to face with an ecstatic Ampharos flying through the sky to meet them.
"Weeee!" Beacon cheered as the momentum from his release launched him high above the flock. When he reached the height of his jump, the Ampharos focused all his energy into the jewel on his forehead and fired a concentrated (and surprisingly accurate) Thunderbolt. It struck one of the lead Wingull and sent it crashing to the ground. It created a small crater in the sand. The Ampharos laughed as the attack fizzled out; it tickled his nose.
"Just as I thought!" shouted Mike, pumping his fist into the air. "If you focus your attacks with the jewel it's a lot easier to aim. Now take out the rest of them!" there was an unmistakable hint of pride in the air as he shouted his commands.
Beacon giggled merrily, and proceeded to shoot the rest of the birds out of the sky before he too began to fall. Thankfully, the sand softened his landing, and the Ampharos was ready when the last of the Wingull charged forward in anger.
"Don't even let him."
"N'yooo!" shouted Beacon as he fired one last Thunderbolt. As the light subsided, not a single Wingull remained, and those who had the energy to move hobbled or flew away.
"Kick a**!" cheered Mike as he ran over to give his Pokemon a hug. "I knew you would get over your accuracy problem!" He let out an inward sigh of relief. He was beginning to worry if there was any hope left for Beacon. But it seemed good things did come to those who wait.

"Snee...?" Sneasel asked as she watched Mike jump up. After following his gaze she caught sight of several very angry looking birds swooping down from the sky, awfully thankful that she wasn't one of those poor human girls getting their heads pecked at. She clapped with appreciation when the human launched a fireball - wow, this boy must have been part-Pokemon! The big yellow Pokemon he sent out in return was just as interesting, and in only a few moments it had crispy fried each of the offending birds. "Snee sel!" she cheered, running over to Mike and his Pokemon. The display had been very impressive and she very much wanted to meet Mike's Pokemon.
Riza, on the other hand, was far less than impressed by the display. When the birds' angry shrieks reached her ears she sat up and looked around, only in time to see several bolts of electricity fly over her head and strike a bunch of the birds. They fell like downed planes all around her and she shrieked and covered her head, praying that one didn't land on her. She slowly opened one eye, seeing the carnage all around her. A few feet in front of her, one of the birds lay, still giving off a bit of static electricity from the attack. An idea crossed her mind and she quickly grabbed her bag, searching for one of the spare Pokeballs Jaden had given her. When she finally found one she held it up and turned to the bird. She raised her arm to throw the Pokeball, but someone beat her to it. She sighed and fell back on her towel with a frustrated sigh. "Oh well... I didn't want that silly bird Pokemon anyway."

Is he serious? Keegan thought as he watched the Butterfree take flight. He would have an obvious advantage here, but he frowned, mulling it over in his mind. Jaeshan probably had a good reason for sending out his Butterfree, and he decided that underestimating the blonde would be about as smart as underestimating Kasiya or Mike. He raised an eyebrow as Butterfree used Harden, but smiled. You'll need more protection than that, he thought, nodding to his Pokemon.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw that they had drawn a bit of an audience, and while Keegan was never good with crowds, he couldn't help but remember how the cheers had helped to motivate him that time he battled on the cruise ship. He couldn't help but wish that Kasiya was there to see him as he studied the butterfly. "Start out with Focus Energy," he told Artemis. As long as Jaeshan and Butterfree were using buffering attacks, then he might as well too. With a flap of her wings Artemis was in the air, twirling and twisting. She focused herself, feeling a rush of adrenalin flow through her body. She glared at the pretty Butterfree (although she did respect her fellow flier), daring her to bring it on. "Your move, Jae," Keegan said with a smirk.

Now Sherlock was face to face with the other Cyndaquil, he was quite scarded, he didn't know whether of not the other Cyndaquil would hurt him. "H-hi...m-my nam-name is S-Sher-erlock...wh-whats yours?"
Dakra was tired. All this running around was getting old. He got to where Sherlock was, only to see two cyndaquils looking at each other.

Jaeshan frowned a bit at the Focus Energy; if Artemis were to score a hit (and he didn't doubt that she could) it had the possibility of doing a lot of damage in the process. The blonde eyed the gathering crowd, figuring that after the last two battles they were still itching for a good fight. Again he twitched when Keegan called him Jae - for some reason he really just didn't like it coming from that particular redhead. Trying to shrug it off, his mind scrolled through all of Butterfree's potential attacks. She had such a variety of abilities at her disposal, although many of them were only circumstantially useful. He could always just douse the Swellow in Sleep Powder, but he felt that would be very anti-climactic, and that all these beach-goers deserved a show.
"Blast that bird out of the sky with Psybeam!" he shouted finally. He was a resourceful battler, often able to get through most fights without resorting to being showy and overly flashy, but this time, against Keegan, it was different. The crowd let out a collective "ooh" as a rainbow-coloured ball of energy formed between Butterfree's two 'hands'. Flapping her wings to help give her some momentum, she pushed the ball away from her, it spreading into a beam of psychic energy as it headed for Artemis.
