Okay, let me explain.
One day, Brainiac's working in his lab on a project to create an artificial intelligence that rivals his own 12th level effector intellect. And, he does. Except that the thing goes BATWITCH INSANE and starts killing people. It kills one of Triplicate Girl's bodies, tortures Brainy, causes all the technology on Earth to revolt, and manages to somehow TURN OFF the powers of half the Legion.
It took us days to destroy Computo, and it involved a massive distraction and teleporting in an antimatter being to basically obliterate the main unit.
Okay, so, a few years later, Brainy decides to try again. THIS doesn't go well either, but finally, he gets the thing under control and it serves as the main processor of his lab's computer system. It has UNLIMITED potential, and when it's not under his guidance, it's DANGEROUS.
But, like I said, Computo's an artificial intelligence. Sort of like the Cyberdome's AI. Brainy's it's dad. He loves the thing.

So, as you can see, her asking for the Computo unit's just bad all around, in my opinion. But if it gets Salu back, I'd deal with the consequences afterward no matter what.
