Wow...she felt thrity five again, standing in her father's study and being repremanded as she toed the ground with a boot. Zahara was really really good at this chastising thing wasn't she. And Piper duely dropped her gaze, letting the drow have the gesture of submission as Piper rested a hand on her sore shoulder, giving a slight look to Lharika who was trying to defend them. "I suppose then it's best if I just...sit somewhere and don't move, right?" Malik was probably going to have her a** for this as well. Joy. "If it means anything, I apologize."

Okay, this wasn't fun at all, not to mention Isle could do little to hold herself up. And she wasn't ashamed to pass the buck either. "He's the one who suggested it...and he was carrying me and doing everything. I was actually resting, just not in a bed or inside of someplace."

Sevilin brushed his thumbs over his son's cheeks before pulling him into his lap, giving him a comforting hug and rubbing at the child's back lightly. All in the dirt too. "Shh, don't cry." Why couldn't this child just have one thing...just one...work out for him? Why couldn't Sevilin make that happen for the boy...he was supposed to be the one to make everything right in the child's world and he couldn't even do that. It was hard feeling like a failure in some areas...he knew what his son was talking about. "She is yours...she just has...obligations and such as well. Sometimes other's need her help. I know it's hard sharing something you really care for...but the important thing is that you're the one that they come back to when the day is done." He felt odd saying that....after all what did he know of such things?

Lark was ignored. Completely and utterly. "Both of you sit down! Isle you look like you're about to fall over and Piper, you once again need to be healed." She shoved her hands through her hair and leaned back against the island, arms crossed. "You both don't get it, do you? Apologies are not what I want. I want you two to take better care of yourselves, to have some care for what I bust my a** doing for you! Isle, you went sailing in Underdark waters. It doesn't matter if you laid around or not, you were out in Underdark water." By the gods, they really weren't getting it. "And Piper, it's not that you were training it's who you were training with. You both were reckless and did the most dangerous thing you possibly could while neither of you had the constitution or health to encounter such situations. Thankfully nothing went wrong. But look me in the eye and tell me that nothing could have. Your boat couldnt' have flipped, could have it Isle? And those drow couldn't have lost themselves and really hurt or killed you, could have they Piper?" Maybe now she'd send her point home.

Zykariel leaned his head against his father's chest and sniffled. "She wouldn't let me carry a bag. I just wanted to help and I always help put away the stuff she gets. I know where all the ingredients go, but she wanted Lark's help instead. And then she said if she was here she'd come see my lesson too..." Then he glanced up. "What if she decides she wants to stay here? She's not home with us yet, Daddy..." but that thought just brought on more tears.

Both elves had a seat, though it took Isle a moment more seeing as she had to make her legs work to get to said seat first. They really were being chastised like a group of young children. They breify exchanged look and then both took to staring at thier boots again. Though yes Piper still felt justified, seeing as she knew the underdark would be a lot tougher...and depending on who her traveling partners were...if she had any...she couldn't fully trust them right off the bat. Piper had to look out for Piper. "You're right." Let the woman win.

Isleandra watched Piper and decided that it was going to be a good idea to take her route. Zahara was absolutely hostile over this...Galesen better get his a** chewed too...or Isle would do it herself. "Yeah you're right...I wasn't thinking, it was a bad idea. No sailing when practically cripple."

And the child just got upset. Why did it feel like they were right back at square one again? He held his son close a moment, trying to comfort him. No, dirt didn't matter at all now...hell, dump mud on him and he wouldn't care at this moment or obsessively clean it up. "Maybe they were all too heavy..." And now he was excusing her...though it was just to make his son feel better.

"She..." What did he say to that? He wasn't really sure...the boy wouldn't belive him if he said something. Sevilin debated on going upstiars and presenting Zahara with an upset child. "Well...when people break their word...we should go ask why shouldn't we?" The boy needed his answers and reassurance and it wouldn't be good enough coming from Sevilin. Picking up the child, not even caring to brush the dirt off of himself, he carried him upstiars and toward the yelling that was Zahara's. He'd just wait patiently and comfort the child unti she noticed them.

"I don't want to be right. I want you two to understand why I'm so upset. You don't, you merely want me to shut up and leave you be so fine. I will shut up and let you be but understand that I put a lot of work into what I do and it upsets me to see you two out there tearing it up. It may not seem this way to you but healing you is my job. And when you two go out and do things like that right after I finished my job...well it makes me look incompetent. Please be more careful in the future. I'm not asking you to glue yourselves to the chair and sit around bored all day. I know it's not in your nature to do so. Just take things slow and try to understand that your bodies can only handle so much." As she spoke she'd kneeled down before Piper and begun healing her many little wounds. "Lark, hand me the bruise ointment, please."

Lharika glanced over the jars and tried to recall the information she'd been given before she selected one and pushed it towards her.

Zahara beamed at her when she chose the right one and ruffled her hair. "Very good. You have a quick memory and a clever mind, both will serve you well." Turning back to the women before her she handed the jar to Piper. "Use this to tone down the bruising and swelling, then make sure you bring it back. It's going to be a necessity for your kit. Although if you keep getting in fights soon you'll be so bruised you'll pass for a drow yourself. Now both of you go off and take it easy." She was staving off some of her anger for Arthur and then Kieran. Both of them were going to get theirs as well.

Zykariel saw that smile given to Lharika and his shoulders dropped and he pressed his face to his father's neck. Life was just unfair to him, wasn't it? Instead of coming to see his lesson, she'd been up here teaching Lharika. He wasn't stupid, he knew.

Piper understood, she just didn't like being berated about it. But the two were really taking it in stride, letting Zahara have her say and get it out of her system. "We'll lay off...Isle can barely move anyway and my left arm is shot." A look to Isle. "Come on you, let's go sit around for a bit." No spite in the words towards ZAhara...Piper needed a rest anyway. Thus to helping her friend walk and the two went to occupy some chairs in front of the fireplace...they had things to talk about and catch up on anyway.

Sevilin merely watched a moment and then pet lightly at his son's hair as he felt him turn his face inward. Oh yes, he was feeling great right about now. Okay then, now that she was less occupied, he felt the need to get on her case somewhat. He cleared his throat to get her attention. "I thought you were going to come down to watch him?"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 30, 2007 9:32 pm

Her gaze swung to the voice she was accustomed to hearing and one eyebrow quirked as she took in her lover's appearance. There was dirt in his hair and all over his pants which was odd. Sevilin didn't do dirt so there was obviously something wrong. Then her mind connected what he was saying with the little drow in her arms and her eyes widened. She'd gotten distracted and spent all her time with Lark. Guilt was written in her eyes but she nibbled on her bottom lip and then turned. "Lharika, why don't you go help Piper with her ointment. She's likely to have a rough time of it with all those bruises." She waited until the child left and then turned back to the other two. Not even a full day under her belt and already she'd screwed up. "I was..." What should she do now? Sevilin was comforting the child and he didn't even seem inclined to look at her.

Zykariel chose that moment to turn and glance at her. "But you didn't. Why? You were too busy with Lharika weren't you? You let her help you and then you showed her stuff instead of coming to see me like you said you would." He shook his head. "You're my Mommy not hers! Mine!" Oh dear... that icky feeling was coming on...

Her stomach twisted painfully at the expression on the child's face and his dirty cheeks bore tearstains as well. She'd never thought it would upset him this much and she hadn't meant to miss the magic lessons. "I'm sorry Kariel...I'm...new at this."

"That's an excuse and you know it," he bit out. "If it had been important to you, if I had been important to you, you would have made sure you were there especially since you were back on time. Daddy was there and he doesn't even feel good." Keep the icky feeling down...

She had switched places. Two minutes ago she was the chastiser, now she was the chastised. She finched and her eyes flashed as he cut her with his statements but she swallowed and nodded. She itched to hug him and promise to never forget anything again but he didn't want anything to do with her right now. Her gaze went to Sevilin's, pleading for some sort of help.

It was quite clear that Zykariel had his mother's temper and certinaly not Sevilin's. But he watched Zahara's eyes a moment as she looked to him, pleading with him to do something to help. And as much perhaps as he would love to watch her flail for her broken words, he wasn't going to be that cruel to her. He considered his words a moment...hm, what to say.

Giving the boy a rub on the back he brought his hand up under the boy's chin, directing his look back to his own and off of Zahara for the moment. "Now now, you're being too harh with her. When you're new at something do you want someone talking to you like that?" Trying his best to make things a little easier yet not take sides and not justify what she had done. "She's here now...why don't you show her what you can do? What I taught you this morning?" After all he could feel that energy rise in the boy and it needed to be leveled out. Yeah we'll start there.

Malik rolled over in bed, before sitting up, and stretching. that felt better...wait..son of a...he'd missed Malikhai's lessons. so up and out of bed with him and downstairs, nodding to Zahara and looking to see if he could find his son.

Zahara was grateful for Seviln's help, he could have easily left her to flounder and try to mollify the boy by herself, which she had no idea how to do. She'd never encountered this sort of situation before. But he offered up a peace offering and she gladly took it. "Yes, I'd love to see it."

Zykariel frowned for a moment. Why was Daddy defending her? Then he thought back over what he'd said and he had to admit that he had been a bit mean. "I'm sorry Mommy. I didn't mean to be mean, it just upsets me when you act like everyone else's mommy instead of mine."

But he knew he had to do something or glasses and such were going to break and then she'd be mad at him and Daddy would be displeased because he'd taught him how to keep it from happening. He pulled his hands forward and twisted in his father's arms, then imagined his little ball and drew a line like he'd been taught. "Lookit." Two fingers spaced a bitty bit apart, he chose not to use his thumb and little finger because it was hard to see. Thus a little thread of energy appeared between his two pointers and the icky feeling went away.

A slow smile spread over her features as she recognized the first lessons and manifestations of control. It was a particularly hard lesson for excited little elves to learn even more so for the impulsive or really powerful like her son. "You learned how to control your magic. That's wonderful, Zykariel. Now I really am sorry I missed it." She paused for a moment and then held out her hands palm up to the child. "Can you forgive me? Even though I don't deserve it?"

Zykariel let the magic disappear and felt his anger melt at the sight of that smile. It was the same sort of smile she'd given to Lharika, the sort of smile that he'd been trying to earn from her forever. He usually got it when they were cooking. Squirming in his father's arms, he leaned close and whispered. "Do you think she'd let me hug her?"

Little mini Malik was of course still outside with Kieran, having accepted that daddy needed some extra rest and mommy was off to do more mommy things that didn't need little children in the way...no that he knew she was already done nad duely chewed out of it either. So he was currently at the draithix pen, doing his newly aqcuried chore of feeding them as Kieran supervised and kept that vigilant eye out for any danger.

There see....since when did he get so good at keeping peace? Or maybe it was the fact that she had just gone nuclear on the surface women and he didn't want a piece of that nuclear on some level or form. But he watched with a slight smile as he son easily displayed what was learned. But a look to his son and a chuckle before he set the boy down. "Go for it." Petting his hair lightly.

He grinned up at his father and then turned and ran to her. Locking his arms around her middle he hugged her tightly. "Of course I forgive you, silly. You're my Mommy and I love you."

It was as simple as that to him wasn't it? She reached down hesitantly and rested her hands on his back, pressing lightly but after a moment that just wasn't enough. Gently removing his hands, she crouched down his level, creasing her boots as she balanced on her toes and opened her arms. It didn't take but two seconds for him to shove himself into them and she hugged him tightly, one hand pressing on the back of his head, the other wrapped around him to hold him as close to her as she could. "I'm so sorry Kariel," she whispered. "I'll never forget again, I promise."

He hugged her for a moment and then pulled back and shook his head. "You're new at this remember? Everyone can forget things once. I forget stuff all the time. Besides you did promise to either come down or let me show you after so you still kept it." He grinned at her then looked back at his father. "Can we go home now?"

She kept her arms wrapped around his little body and stood up, taking her with him, and settling him on her hip. Mouthing a thanks to Sevilin she tapped the boy on the nose. "You want to go home already? I thought you were having fun with Malikhai."

He wrinkled it and giggled, all traces of the melancholy child gone. "I was. Am. But I miss my bed and I miss my food. And Rawr does too. Right Daddy?"

"Well...I have ingredients and such that need to go over there anyway..." Shooting a glance at Sevilin. It was his ultimate deicision after all. And she'd need help. But they could take them over and then come back. She had a surface elf to chew out anyway. "Plus I need to make sure Piper and Isle and everyone is set..."

There see, world was right. Toddlers were easy to please once you learned how to work them and make it all better without the tears. But he merely crossed his arms lightly, now remembering the dirt on his person and trying to ignore it. "Sure, we can go home if that's what is wanted. Anythign else you need just pile up and show me, the rest of your things are back at my place already." Shifting his weight...parenting was getting no easier.

Arthur sighed a litle to himself as he was at home, Isle wanted to walk herself home and be such a big girl so he had no chioice but to let her; she even told him that he couldn't pick her up which was a bit upsetting. Though at the moment his whole body started to shiver, like it knew something was wrong but the elf shrugged it off without any worries. So he was in his home, looking around to see what he wanted to take and one of the major things was his violin of course, being up there he's going to have plenty time to pratice.

Well after he selected a few thigs, and he found his necklace so that meant no one stole it, Arthur deicded that he needed to pick up on his studying a little so with a small whistle to the winds Brahnel showed and he mounted his steed with no problem. In a second the elf was there at the doorstep to Twilight, dismounted from Brahnel he gave his steed an apple and allowed him to roam before heading inside, he was wondering how everyone else was today.

"That sounds like a good plan," she shifted Zykariel in her hold and pet through his hair, then set him down and gave him a bag to carry. "There's all our cookie ingredients little one so we have plenty next time you want to make cookies." Then packing a few more things back into bags she handed them over to Sevilin. The door opening and closing made her ears twitch and she walked to the foyer to find Arthur. Just the elf she wanted to take a bite out of. "Galesen Coldiron, it's your turn." The tamped down rage was back in less than a second and she dropped her hands to her hips and glared at him, that boot automatically taking to tapping. "What in teh name of the gods were you thinking taking Isleandra out on a boat in the condition that she is in?! Were you trying to get her killed? Do you have no care for her life whatsoever or for teh amount of time it takes to heal her?!"

Zykariel happily took that bag and set it down on the floor then went about unpacking it to make sure she'd gotten everything that he'd mentioned. He'd forgotten about brown sugar, she used that sometimes too but she had remembered and got it anyway. "She's got milk Daddy, we need to get that back home and in the fridge quick. And she's probably got eggs too."

The elf's ears dropped when he hear Zahara's voice and he looked at her with a surprised look on his face, well so much for finding out if everyone was alright, seems as if the fortress as been under the wrath of the drow that was shouting at him. So he crossed his arms lightly and took a small breath, he didn't need to get so upset over this if Zahara wanted then fine he might as well let her. "I took her out to get some fresh sea air on my boat, I took care of everything that there was to do so she didn't have to get up and hurt herself, all she did was lie in the hammock." Though he popped up an eyebrow and looked at her for a second before continuing. "No of course I wasn't trying to get her killed. I knew what I was doing and I have a good strong sense of where to go in these waters." Geez he was glad he wasn't here before, maybe that's why his body got the shivers awhile back, maybe Zahara and Isle were talking about him? He should pay attention to that next time.
