Anime and Manga Fangirls
These fangirls are dangerous. You must never allow a fangirl to rant, shriek, or otherwise act in a "fangirlish" manner. You will suffer loss of hearing, sanity, and might (thus if you meet a rabid fangirl) be scarred for life. Also, you might extract personality traits from these fangirls such as hyperness (more so if you're already hyper), find that anime/manga boys kissing is hot (only if you stumble upon yaoi fangirls), think and/or talk as if you are married, dating, or a lover with an anime/manga fictional character, and overall, you start to obsess more (if not had already) over anime and manga.

Woot! ^^ I be a clarient.

Be afraid. VERY afraid.

I am sad with those good Gaians that are leaving. Gaia is going down the pits because of nOObs, greedy egotists, and report-button happy people. Is there anyway we can stop this madness? This chaos? Do you really log on each day because you want to earn an item? Do you log on each day just to bump your little brains out?! Is that the reason?! Is it?! Is it?!?! No. Not for me it's not. I log on each day to talk to the people whom I've become friends with. I don't care about gold anymore. If I earn any, it's not going to be spent on me. It's going to be spent on my friends to show them how much they mean to me. Gaia became my home on the internet. Someday, I know I'll leave Gaia. Hell, we all know that we're going to leave someday, but if it's just because you've gotten bored or tired because people keep asking for items and gold, then <******** you. Don't just be all emo and think that there's nothing you can do about it. One voice can make a difference. And besides, don't think that you're all alone out there. Believe me, you're not. You're probobly one of hundreds or thousands of people who have the same opinion about Gaia.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Hey guys, I'm back with need for more help sweatdrop

Well I've got a solo coming up, in about 2 and a bit weeks and originally I was going to do "The Young Prince and Princess" from Scherazade, but after recording me playing I realised it sounds awful, especially with no backing.

So I'm asking you guys if you know any good, fairly simple songs, but still complex in a way that will get my high marks. Oh, and the sheet music is available (Scanned anyone? sweatdrop ) But yeah, erm that would be a great help.

If anyone has "Once upon a December"'s sheetmusic, I will shower you with love!

You could do the one I did last year-Nocturne in G Minor by Verhey. I would post the music but I've marked all over it in my endeavor to memorize it. sweatdrop

I'm gonna hopefully get a new clarinet for Christmas this year *hopes*, since I am really abusing my current one in marching band. I admit I cannot swab it most days after class. I really don't care in the mornings. Bad me, yes, but why I want another is for indoor use only. I want a buffet for sure, maybe an R-13. Of course, I'll need a tuner and I might ask someone to come along with me to help pick out one.

(Excuse my random double post if it is one) If My clarinet cracked, I'd immediately make it into a lamp to at least keep it... What's left of it. When I get done with reeds, I give 'em a good stand or case, or (insert test here) test. How you do that is, you smash it against (insert object that's hard and durable here, i.e floor or case or even stands), and put it in the trashcan afterwards. By the way, Vandoren's out with some new reeds that are similar to German reeds. They're called 56 RUE LEPICs.

*cough* so after a couple months of college, work, and nearly dying several times, I've returned. Love hurts. But anyways, I'm here to shake some more sense into you guys. First off, I'll start with a basic wood clarinet lecture. If you get a crack in the clarinet, that is because it is either too new (wood hasn't formed yet), you brought it into a different climate without using a humidifier in your case, or you just don't care for it enough and haven't used bore oil in over a year. Anyways, cracks ARE repairable, and can have minimal side effects. As a repairman myself, I can tell you its not fun, nor easy to do so, but once the filler and glue are set and in place, it'll play very similar to how it used to.

Next off, the reeds. You can still check out my old forum about a great deal of information about reeds, but I'll try to focus on what you guys are discussing. Ricos = bad. Not good. And don't think this is because I am biast towards Vandoren or that I just have a very closed mind, I know this because I know the most about reeds and how they work better than anyone else on gaia. The very first thing you look at in a reed is the cane. The color denotes the age and humidity of the reed, as well as in what stage of its developement it was in when it was harvested. Rico usually cuts all of their crops about half a season earlier than others, to prouce quantity rather than quality. That is why Rico reeds usually have a brown/yellow or green color to it. Vandorens and other brands should be more of a lighter shade, and have no green or brown to it. The next thing to do is to look at the cut of the reed. If a reed is uneven when it's cut, then the slope of the face will be off center and make it very difficult to play when it's used properly. If the facing is off center, but the reed plays ok, do NOT use a reed knife to correct the flaw. lay it flat and look at the bottom part, the part with a reverse U shape. If that is unbalanced, then theres nothing you can do, and you should work the reed as best as you can or use it to practice shaving techniques. I actually age my thinner reeds to see what kind of change in tone it gives, just as an experiment. To fix and a reed that has an off center heart, the middle part of the face, use fine sand paper or a reed resurfacing kit to remove the excess from the overblown side (the side with the most resistance when you play). You can wet, then hold up the reed to a light to look for the darker areas on the sides, that is where the reed is thicker.

I love how 'all knowing' you all seem when it comes to which type of clarinet to buy. Yes, an R-13 is a good standard for most professionals, but you guys don't even know how to spot a worthy one. I highly despise people who buy theirs online, brand new, or from a friend because you have no idea the quality of the horn. Wood is organic, and like all once living things, it is different from one to another. I can gaurantee that my R-13 is in better shape than a lot of yours, especially when we get down into technical detail such as bevelled cork pads on the trill and side keys, A and G#, and register, synthetic 'soft cork' for protecting where keys connect instead of the cheap cork board or wine corks, and especially the action of every key. You can't just sit down with a brand new clarinet and expect it to be as good as one that has been worked on, broken in, balanced, tuned, and the clarinetist knowing every compensation they have to make for that specific model. Even if you take lessons, a teacher who has never spent any time in instrument repair would not be able to notice the little things about your clarinet that could result in a squeak in a solo or a fuzzy sound in the throat tones. Now I'm ranting, but I think a lot of you should leanr more about what you're playing before you start calling each other stupid or godly.
