"No... it's fine," Allora insisted with a smile. "The flowers are actually good for opening up the sinuses and extinguishing sickness," she explained. It was true... but it also gave her a nice little excuse to stay in the room.
Alti, who had, for a moment, been looking hopeful, looked back down at his plate and prodded the fish slightly with his fork for a moment before cutting and eating a bite. He didn't feel particularly... talkative, but....
He looked up at Haar and nodded. "Yeah... I... it does feel pretty warm... uhm..." He looked back over at his mother. He knew she could make it cooler... but he didn't particularly feel like asking her to. It would only further expose his lack of magical ability - something he was quite ashamed of... somewhere deep down inside.

Cain's eyes widened considerabley as his horse snorted in protest, eventually slowing down as the knight leaned forward, murmuring to the frightened horse that everything was okay, he was right there. "You can't just kick 'im," he almost yelled at the younger male. "He'll buck us if you do that again," he muttered, in a softer tone this time, reaching around the younger teen to take the reins.
"Just try not to fall or something, okay?" He'd had enough with broken bones lately.
------
Nodding, agreeing with the young male, Haar picked up Alti's hand by the wrist, "Do you think I have a fev-" He was cut off by a sharp crack that shocked his hand, right where he had touched the other. The sound caused quite a disturbance not only throughout the room but seemed to have made the commander incredibly uneasy. Letting go of the teen, Haar stared at his hand, turning it over with a frown. His hand felt like it was on fire, but...there was nothing.
Was that just a remant of the spell he'd used earlier? Why...would it have set off just then? Was something go wrong with him, with his insides that he couldn't control himself? "What... is- Did that hurt you?" He asked, glancing at the boy with a concerned look.

" Im sorry, but, I, I just had to leave." K felt that for the moment that he was safe, and he certainly wasnt about to let Cain know that anything was wrong. Now that they had cleared the city they began to trot lightly. K's body bounced lightly next to Cain's as they rode along in silence.

For some reason, Alti's cheeks flushed slightly as Haar touched his wrist. He wasn't really sure why... but somehow his will was now split instead of being souly focused on one thing. He... wanted to move closer to Haar. And he wanted to be away from his mother. And he wanted to finish eating ((haha xD;; )). And he wanted to leave this room with the flowers and--
He was startled out of his thoughts by the loud crack. He jumped, wrist twitching lightly with the motion, eyes instinctively narrowed against the sound, shoulders raised to almost his ears.
He shook his head slowly, golden eyes still fixed on his hand and Haar's. "I'm... fine...." he mumbled, brow furrowed in confusion.
Allora watched the proceedings, an expression on her face that might have been read as "mild interest" - but truthfully she was intirely intent on the pair's goings-on. She had to get them together... somehow. SHe selected another bite of fish and chewed it slowly, eyes returning to study Haar's face. If the flowers were actually working - which she wasn't entirely positive that they were - then the pair would hardly notice her.

[[He wanted to finish eating... XD]]
Haar stared intently at his hand. There was no sign of any burns or marks, but... He had felt like his power had spun out of control. The young man wasn't sure what happened to people of other nations, but when magic was out of the user's control, at least for many fire natives, it actually felt as if whatever spell was cast affected the user. In this sense, Haar would've been burned had his magic been somehow urged into igniting.
But he wasn't. Turning over his hand once more, Haar frowned. Nothing. The pain was slowing ebbing away as well, feeling much more like the warm, almost tender, glow of a dying fire than anything dangerous. "Are you...sure?" He asked hesitantly, not really wanting to find out if he had hurt the other or not. He wasn't sure how he'd react if he found out his magic had, indeed, gone out of control. The young man was very cautious of touching the other now, but somehow he didn't know if he could quite trust the boy. "You're not lying?" He murmured in a lowered tone, red eyes hooded as he stared down the younger male as he gently turned over the other's hand, examining his wrist with furrowed brows.
-----
Cain frowned slightly, "Just tell me next time. It'd hurt like hell if this horse bucked us," he muttered, keeping a steady hand around the other's waist to keep him on the black horse, while his other lightly held the reins. It wouldn't take too long to get to the castle. Although Desmrov was a few hours away, they were making good time as far as the knight could see. They'd definitely be riding in the dark soon enough, as it was well past dusk already, but it figured it wouldn't be too bad. He just hoped K wouldn't try something again which would only leave one of them with a broken neck and a very frightened horse.

"I'm sure... and I'm not lying," he replied, a small frown on his lips as his golden eyes inevitably returned to fix on the other's. And, for once, they stayed there instead of flickering around the room like they usually did. Judging from the other's reaction... then... then Haar must have been hurt.
"I... are... you alright?" he asked, almost inspite of himself. He almost never inquired as to others' wellbeings... unless it was really very serious. And this didn't seem to be. But still... Alti felt... concerned - something that made him quite inwardly confuzed, but he did his best to not let that show.

"I'm fine," was his initial response.
After a few moments, he continued in a lightly concerned tone, "Well, I don't know why that happened. I didn't...do anything, and it felt as if my magic was going out of control or something," he mumbled, running a hand through dark brown hair before eyeing the storm native's hand once more.
"I'm going to try this the normal way," he added in an equally as soft voice, instructing the other to hold out his hands palms up.

He did as instructed, a slightly baffled expression on his features. "What are you trying the normal way?" he asked, feeling some small reluctane to hold his hands out, palms up. If it hurt...--
But it wouldn't. Or so he hoped.
"Is this... you mean that weird thing you did before?" he questioned, tone slightly skeptical. For some reason he felt a little reluctant to hold up two portions of skin that contained vital arteries in a position that made it look almost as if he were offering blood to some sort of dark religious practice.
But that was nonsence.

"The spell that measures any remains of fire energy in anything, yes. It's only supposed to be used for two things, certification that royals are pure blood and to make sure a fire's put out completely. I guess it could be used for a fire curse or something, as long as the person didn't have any fire nation relatives," he murmured before muttering the spell under his breath.
He'd used it a few times on royals, just to see what would happen when used on a pure blood fire native. It had been easily one the most intense feeling of fire he'd ever experienced. Besides several heated battles and when his parents... The shockwave from such purity had left him trembling the first time he'd tried it on a princess, but Alti shouldn't have too much fire in him...
Shaking his head, the young commander finished off the spell with a faint, hopefully reassuring grin, as he placed his bare hands over the boys, hovering for a moment before resting them atop the other's. Instantly there was a loud snap, but nothing else. It hadn't hurt like before, but it was enough to tell him that there was definitely some amount of fire blood in the boy, even if it was from far off ancestors. "I don't understand why earlier...it hurt," he mumbled, almost to himself, keeping his hands over the teens as the rippling feeling began to fade.

Allora's expression changed from interest to shock and then to anger. She stood up, her chair clattering and falling to the floor. Her expression was not that of the light, beaming, motherly figure that usually stood in the midst of Alti's affairs -- her expresion was suffused with rage.
"How dare you," she hissed, her dark hair billowing out behind her as a slight wind began to pick up in the enclosed area. Even if they were inside, her Storms magic was strong enough to be quite devistating when she was angered.
Alti looked up, shocked, a stunned expression on his features. He had very rarely seen his mother angry - and never anywhere near this angry....
"Mother?" he breathed, now worried for Haar - and his plan to rid Alti of suitors.
But Allora didn't seem to hear him. "I may not know what is customary in your Kingdom... but in our Kingdom we find this sort of behavior highly offenive." 'We' might have been the wrong word, as Alti had never complained. Allora's words could more correctly be translated into "there's a family secret I have to keep and anyone trying to unearth it is likely to meet a none too pleasant end."
((Haha... sorry.... I'm not good at angry/evil people. >>;;; ))

The next few moments for the young man were quite literally a blur. Once the wind started to pick up inside the small room, Haar instictivley reach for his sword... which was in Alti's room and of no use to him there. One hand still hovering over the teen's, the red-eyed soldier realized that the only weapon he had on him was that single dagger (in his boot). It, like his sword, was no use to him there. He couldn't exactly bend over to pick out a dagger and defend himself against a crazy woman. She technically hadn't attacked him so he couldn't really do anything but stare at her, almost shrinking back at her angry shrieking.
Lacing his fingers between the teen's, Haar stared at the increasingly angered mother, "I don't suppose you even know what just happened, do you?" Of course she didn't. The sound meant nothing, it was more of a signal that the spell had even worked. "The sound means nothing, it's the shockwave that follows that tells me if one has any sort of fire engery in them," he continued, looking down for a moment, his expression fading from shock to something more devious, "I don't think I would've missed sparks flying if there had been a true wave, but I'm sure you're wondering why there was a reaction in the first place," he murmured, looking up with a clear smirk. He surmised that Allora was worried someone would find out Alti's father had some fire blood in him, or something along those lines. She didn't know that he was well aware of her concerns though.
[[I think Haar's just making this worse with the way I think he's taking this conversation. =w=;;]]

Allora looked over at Haar, her face smoothing out into cool, unreadable - but still angry - lines. Suddenly, she turned her back on the pair. She was obviously seething beneath her cold facade and did't want to show it. "If you once mention anything even slightly pretaining to this issue.... Not only will you lose your position, but I shall see to it that your existence is made as entirely unpleasant as possible - I believe the Kingdom of Fire has several islands used to improson its own people in watery gates," she said, her tone biting. He hand were clenched beside her and a vein was pusling very quickly in her right hand.
She cast a glance back over towards Haar. "Is that understood?" Allora's usual self was... agreeable, if not a bit wired. But the woman standing before the pair was quite formidable.
Alti swallowed slightly and cast a glance over at Haar. THere was something... something not right here. If Alti simply had Fire blood due to some affair of his mother's - well, that was quite easy to guess and Allora's actions most likely would not have been so... drastic. There had to be something... something else.

As the sun fell from the sky and night approched, K felt himself being gently rocked back and forth by the horse's trot. He couldnt help but become sleepy. It must be torture to ride horses all the time, he thought to himself. He was determined to stay awake, but the comforting grip of Cain's arm around his waist wasnt helping. His head began to nod and he felt himself sinking in and out of sleep. "I need to get some water from my pack or i'll fall asleep" he mumbled to Cain, reaching for his pack on the side of his horse.

Haar didn't have much to respond to. It wasn't everyday he was threatened by his would-be lover's mother because he performed a simple enough spell. He didn't care about his title, yes it was nice to have a bit of leverage and control over people...but only in the sense that he knew, or at least was trying to guide them in the best way he knew how... that was the only reason he hadn't resigned from his rank.
His first response would be to grow angry, but for some reason (maybe it was the fact he was so weak already) he couldn't bring himself to even start a flame. He just felt...sick. Sick to stomach that Alti had to live with such a person, sick that she had threatened him... Sick because she reminded him of- That anger reminded him of them.
There house was nothing more than rubble and ash now. Onlookers stared in disbelief, shaking there heads slowly before walking off in a daze. He hadn't meant... he hadn't meant to hurt anything... but-
Not looking up, Haar kept a firm grip on the teen's hand, "Would you really do that to...someone? To anyone?"

I don't care if you sleep, but I'm worried you'd fall off again," he murmured softly, easing himself against the other in order to give the younger teen some sort of support should he end up falling asleep.
