It was almost an entire day since she set off on her own journey, with everyone safe in Magvel, and Ephraim and L'Arachel there she knew it would continue to be a safe haven for those who lived there, which was a lot of hero's. It would be one of the more safer cities in the world, that was for sure. Her time spent there with the others brought questions to her mind she couldn't so easily ignore, people who lost their lives, even years back, returning as if nothing had ever happened to them. There lives were started anew, they had their second chances.. So who was to say, two very important people to her couldn't also return? ...What if they were blessed to have that second chance too? If such a miracle happened, it would mean they were lost and alone in a unknown world. It was a dream, but it was to great to ignore those possibilities. And as to not disturb her dear brother, or anyone else with her impossible dreams, she would journey out alone and search to the ends of the earth until she covered every possible area. If they were here, she would stop at nothing to find them, even if it took...a very long time.

Tartaglia"Childhood dreams are all too easily shattered. Even if you just let them be, they will fall to pieces all by themselves. So, someone has to protect them, right? If you make a promise, you keep it. If you make a mistake, you apologize... And if you give someone a dream, you defend it to the end... That is what family is all about, isn't it?" Whatever spurred Eirika into taking this dangerously reckless action even when she scolded Ephraim on his recklessness at times, she was here now, and she would soon come to realize what a mistake she made. She'd soon come face-to-face with a young man she may recognize, had she been present when Shinra attacked their castle in Marvel recently--standing there, a hand on his hip, his crimson scarf waving in the breeze as he faced her. If she did remember this man, she'd also remember how he gave several very powerful warriors a lot of trouble. It was almost an accident Hiyori managed to bring him down at all. "Hey there comrade." He said in a far too familiar tone considering what he was likely here to do. "Now, I'm not one much for kidnapping--that's more for my "fellow" Harbingers. But that brother of yours is quite the warrior, or so I hear. I'd like a chance to see it for myself, and he definitely wouldn't hold back if he was trying to save you." As a protective brother himself, he knew that for a fact. Had she somehow forgotten her brother was a huge target to multiple "antagonists" in this world? This bizarre journey of hers was reckless even without that information, but considering it, she was endangering not only herself but Ephraim when he inevitably came to rescue her. Holding out his arm, a bow made from Hydro materialized, and he wasted no time in beginning to fire arrow after arrow of Hydro in her direction. He COULD ask her to come quietly, but he both doubted she'd listen, and would rather have a fight anyway. (( OOC: ))

"...." It wasn't as if she didn't think this through, she knew there could be some threats along the way, and she was certain she could handle them, but what she didn't think of was the possibilities of the REAL threats that she may not be able to handle. It didn't seem likely such enemies would just find her out in the middle of no where. Why would anyone really put effort or time into chasing after her, really? With all that in mind, she went on with her lone mission. And now, as a certain brown-haired man stood there so calmly, it started to register to her that maybe she wasn't quite so correct on thinking no one really threatening would find her. Despite facing someone who gave even the strongest of warriors of Avalanche a problem, Eirika seemed very calm still.. "Is that your goal? I'm afraid you will be disappointed. You won't see him here, I have ensured that he remained in the city. This...." She paused a moment.. "I have something I need to do on my own.." Her hand began to move to take hold of Sieglinde. "I won't be interrupted.. Though I will entertain you the best I can! " Considering how he was, she could guess he would enjoy every moment of this confrontation, but more so her own determination to win. She had no intentions of failing her mission before it even got a chance to begin.
And so, as the arrows began to fly toward her, Eirika moved swiftly, impressively dodging the onslaught of incoming arrows, all the while closing the distance between them. The moment when she was just close enough was when she lunged forward, thrusting the blade with impressive speed toward his side.He might become aware she wasn't making lethal moves against him, she didn't want to kill him...because......................she had her reasons...

"He doesn't have to come here. He can come all the way to Midgar, once we let him know." Eirika was going to play the part of captured princess waiting for her hero if this went poorly for her, it seemed. Something her dear friend Tana was very good at. "Take it from an overprotective brother, though--he's probably already looking for you." Tartaglia had multiple younger siblings, and he'd slaughter anyone who tried to do them harm without a second thought. "Well, can you?" If she couldn't defend herself well enough, she couldn't very well do it on her own, could she? "Good, amuse me!" He only hoped she could provide enough "entertainment" before the battle was over Her footwork was certainly impressive, she was more agile than he expected. She'd find the same was true of him, though, as he pivoted his body just perfectly enough to dodge her thrust, slamming his elbow down on her blade to knock her off-balance before sweeping her legs out from under her, his bow morphing into twin daggers which he sliced down towards her swiftly. She'd hit the ground and bounce backwards a short bit, while Tartaglia twirled his daggers, walking a bit to the side and not actually pressing the offense just yet. Clearly he wanted to savor this battle, not seize victory immediately. "Surrender is a valid option. I promise I'll be gentle." He said somewhat tauntingly as he circled her slowly, like a vulture. "That won't happen, I can promise you that. " Maybe some girls enjoyed the thought of their hero's coming to their rescue, but not Eirika, and especially not her own brother, who she would rather not see in yet another dangerous situation and all due to her actions. "My brother and I have fought battles most would not live through. He knows I can take care of myself. " So she may of made that sound a little more favoring to herself, she didn't come even close to Ephraim, but Tartaglia here didn't know that. It didn't mean she wasn't skilled, though. She definitely could handle her own in most situations..
This wasn't going to be easy, and while she didn't show it, or say it, she did feel a tinge of worry as he so easily and quickly dodged her blade. It was impressive she was able to hold onto it as his elbow came down over it, instead of dropping it, though, she only held the hilt a little tighter. If she lost her weapon, then she would very quickly lose the battle too. That couldn't happen.. She barely had enough time to react when her legs were sweeped out from under her, and she fell back. So, she May have to get back into the swing of battle. It had been peaceful for so long...she may find herself a bit rusty. "Oh..but I won't! " She responded as she suddenly swung her arm out with Sieglinde, her intent to cut into his shin a bit while she was still there on the ground could come as a small advantage to her, with enough pain he might start to have trouble moving quickly, especially in such a sensitive area of the leg. Had she even managed to get that lucky, she would raise up fully, using the hilt of her weapon to slam into his shoulder with as much strength as she could manage.

If you make a promise, you keep it. If you make a mistake, you apologize... And if you give someone a dream, you defend it to the end... That is what family is all about, isn't it?" "Talk is cheap." Tartaglia responded simply--they could stand here ensuring the other what would or wouldn't happen as a result of the inevitable battle, but all that really mattered was what happened once proverbial steel was drawn. "It won't matter if you end up captured, will it?" Regardless if he chased her immediately or not, if he knew for sure she was being held by Shinra, he'd be there almost immediately. She did manage to land her strike onto his shin, though she may be exasperated when it didn't seem to faze him as much as she may have hoped. "Not bad!" It was almost like he didn't take her very seriously with the complimenting, though this was kinda just how Tartaglia was. He very obviously didn't seem the type to be hateful or hold a grudge, especially over a battle. He intended to win, but he obviously didn't consider it crucial that he win--regardless of his mission, this was just another battle for him. As she slammed the hilt of her weapon into his shoulder, he only budged slightly, before ramming that shoulder into her torso, spinning twice in a whirlwind of attacks and delivering four precise cuts towards her swiftly with his twin daggers made of Hydro, before stopping his spin and going to deliver a kick to her midsection to knock her back onto the ground. The cuts, if they landed, wouldn't do much more than sting--he seemed to intentionally avoid areas of her body that might hinder her ability to fight or move, aiming more for areas like the shoulders or thighs. Had she ended up back on the ground, he'd twirl his Hydro daggers once again. "You're holding back, comrade." He pointed out as though it were as obvious as the color of her hair. "You won't win like that, and I'm growing bored. You promised to entertain me, didn't you? Unless you meant some other form of entertainment outside of battle, I suggest you strike to kill." She was already at a disadvantage when it came to strength, likely skill, and maybe even speed--holding back while having a considerable disadvantage wasn't likely to result in a victory unless she had some other cunning strategy in her sleeve. Which she didn't seem to, at least. (( OOC: ))

It wasn't as though she were striking up a conversation with him, like so many seemed to do in the middle of a battle, or so she witnessed so far. It was quite obvious by her short spoken words that she too, would rather concentrate on the battle. Though for Eirika it wasn't quite for enjoyment as it was for him, she had to concentrate to win. And so, with no further words as the battle between the two continued, Eirika would find herself in the moment of brief surprise when the painful strike to his leg really did next to nothing. He was...tough, to endure pain as though it were nothing, and fight with all his body would allow which if she had to guess, would be a while..He reminded her of someone...very close to her. Not the time to find herself in thought. Her next move...seemed like just another joke to him, as he was barely phased by the force of strong steel slamming into his shoulder, she barely had time to recover before he countered with his own slam of that very shoulder into her, making her stumble back a bit causing her to once again, be unable to fend his next attacks off before she was again..on the ground. She had all courage in the world to keep going, but as it was, that courage was not helping her win this battle so well, was it? His speed and strength were far more superior then her own, and he wasn't exactly the easiest to beat, as Cloud and the other members of Avalanche learned the painful way. If anything, it was impressive she was still putting up such a fight when so many of them went down near instantly. "....You say that, though are you not also holding back? " She pointed out right back at him, as if it wasn't obvious? "I have no intentions of doing so..I will find a way to win, though I do not wish to take away a beloved brother from his siblings." She wasn't going to be using any deadly moves against him, no matter what, she would not strike to kill. Even if she did end up in a terrible disadvantage. Getting to her feet again, that same determination remained in her eyes as she rushed forward, raising Sieglinde suddenly as if she were about to strike him across the face, only to bring it back and thrust it forward for his shoulder. What she hoped to do was distract him in making him think she was about to strike his face, when at the last second she would change her move to make a strike while he was possibly distracted in attempting to shield his face where the point of the blade might of struck.

If you make a promise, you keep it. If you make a mistake, you apologize... And if you give someone a dream, you defend it to the end... That is what family is all about, isn't it?" "Well, that goes without saying." Tartaglia said casually as he circled around her slowly. "I didn't want this fight over too quickly, and if I wasn't holding back, it already would be." He didn't seem to take her too terribly seriously, though her attacks thus far had been so predictable. Tartaglia was a master of a hundred styles of weapons and had fought thousands of battles--it went without saying he wasn't one to take lightly. He had likely seen even more styles than he had learned in his lifetime. "You aren't going to kill me, friend. I'll do what it takes to stay alive--I'd worry about yourself before showing concern for your enemy." He stopped circling her as she stood back up, turning towards her now. As she feinted, he raised his hand, and when she thrusted towards his shoulder, her attack would be deflected as a barrier of Hydro surrounded him. "Sloppy!" He said as he gave his response, a torrent of Hydro energy shooting from the barrier and slamming against her, very likely putting her right back on the ground had she not managed to somehow dodge the swift reaction. "Do you ever learn? You aren't going to win charging in headfirst like that. Maybe against inexperienced brigands, but it's too easy for me to just read and react." His Hydro daggers dissipated, replaced by a slender Hydro rapier which he pointed towards her, though not close enough for it to be a threat, clearly. "You use a fencing style, I see. You might be better-served forcing your enemy to come to you, dodging, then delivering a quick riposte once they've stepped in too far. At least, if your enemy is too experienced to be caught by your initial assault." He swiped the Hydro rapier through the air, letting it dissipate as well. "You move well on your feet, but that won't help if your motions spell out what you intend to do. A poker face--and forcing your foe to take the initiative--can go a long way. I'm sure you've seen your brother do things like that in the past." He stepped towards her, offering a hand to help her to her feet this time. Whether or not she took it, he took a few steps back. "That doesn't help against my bow needless to say, but we'll ignore that for the moment." He held his arms out, once again materializing his twin Hydro daggers. "That's it for the lesson, comrade--if you fall again, I'll finish this fight." It seemed it might be time for him to take this a little more seriously now.. (( OOC: ))

"I do not consider you my enemy. I believe you are misinformed, or that you have been put into the influence of something of a terrible group.." To her, that was no different then being possessed by something of great evil, and that was exactly why..she could not make a killing move against him. "I failed to save someone dear to me, my childhood friend, he was always so gentle and kind...until one day that everything changed. I could have tried harder to save him, but the demons hold on him was to great. It is no different then you obeying the wishes of the ShinRa.I do not think you are like them, There is a kindness about you, and I can see that. You have a strong passion for the thrill of battle, but I believe you have other reasons to fight, to provide for your family. " She paused a moment, well, this was getting a little chatty now, wasn't it? She just couldn't stop herself now. "We will continue this battle, but please..let me speak more. What would you say to a sort of deal. If I win, you will...accompany me in my search, acting as a kni--.." She paused again, maybe not in this world, someone with that kind of position would be called a bodyguard. "...Sorry, um...my bodyguard? Currency is not very hard to come by in this world, so that I can offer you GIL. If you like, we can have a training session, so that you do not miss out on a battle. And if I lose..." She sighed heavily at the thought of it. She would not let herself lose! " What do you have to gain, following their orders but GIL? " He really was just a dog to them, getting a treat each time he brought someone they wanted for whatever reasons back to them. Did he really not care? Did he not see that?

If you make a promise, you keep it. If you make a mistake, you apologize... And if you give someone a dream, you defend it to the end... That is what family is all about, isn't it?" Tartaglia chuckled. "Not the first time I've heard that." How did nearly every female in Avalanche keep saying the same thing? It was like a hive mind, controlled by one person who couldn't allow any of them to think someone wasn't just "misunderstood." "Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not some misunderstood saint being manipulated. I'm aware of the supposed morality, and I simply don't care. I'm with Shinra because they let me fight. That's all there is to it." His loyalty, as far as he was concerned, was still almost exclusively with the Tsaritsa, even if he was in a different world. "Good and evil" didn't matter to him. He was a warrior who craved constant battle."And before you suggest "I could fight with Avalanche too," how often do you all go out to fight? You wait to be attacked and you defend yourself. That isn't good enough for me. There's a nearly endless supply of missions as part of Shinra. Suppressing rebellions, slaughtering monsters, the occasional clash with your group--I can battle to my heart's content. You can harp on about the supposed evil of Shinra all you like, but at the end of the day, I simply don't care. I go where I find battle." That's what apparently every female in Avalanche couldn't understand. He wasn't some lost soul searching for purpose, he wasn't a hero who had unwittingly been tricked by some evil corporation to do bad things. He was a warmonger who craved action. Shinra offered him exactly what he wanted, and that's all that mattered to him. Did he have lines he wouldn't cross? Of course, and had Shinra crossed those lines, he'd turn his battle-frenzy on them instead. "So let me ask you this, princess: how much do you really know about Avalanche? You've been told Shinra has an evil history, and this is true. But are you aware Avalanche does as well? Before your pals joined, they tried to destroy the world, and even since your friends like Cloud and Tifa joined, they performed pretty horrible terrorist attacks which caused thousands of innocent deaths. I wonder if they mentioned this to you. They've done good things as well, but do you think Shinra hasn't? What do your friends do when monsters invade cities? I've been sent out on multiple missions to suppress monsters that would've otherwise killed many. I'm not saying Shinra is in the right--and again, I don't care if they are--but do you just blindly swear your allegiance to Avalanche without questioning what they've done, and what they're doing now? Before you and your off-worlder friends get up on a high horse and try so desperately to appeal to me as though I'm just ignorant to the "terrible evils" of Shinra, maybe do your research first." Even if Shinra was entirely in the wrong though, Tartaglia still didn't care. He wasn't a saint, and he didn't care what people thought of him aside from his family and the Tsaritsa. "And for the record, I fight because I enjoy it. There's no deeper reason. The thrill of battle is all I need." Now, if he needed to protect his family, he'd be glad to have his honed skill to do so, but to claim some grander purpose for his pursuit of power would be a complete lie told to make himself seem more impressive. He only wanted to satisfy the baser need for thrill and combat, the drive to battle and improve. He and Ephraim were very much alike in that regard. "Such an interesting offer, princess." Tartaglia said with a chuckle, twirling one of his twin daggers as he continued to walk to the side, circling her. "Surely you don't think you can actually win." He thought about it for a few moments. "All right, if that'll motivate you. I want to see your best. But I don't care about your money. You can pay me by giving me interesting battles to fight while we're together. Of course..." He slammed the daggers together, combining them into a spear, which he twirled impressively around himself before leaning it against his shoulder as he faced her. "That's only if you win." And he had already threatened that if he knocked her down again, he wasn't just going to stand there and let her get back up again. It would likely spell the end of the battle. (( OOC: ))

Eirika's face fell into a small frown, while it was good to know he wasn't under something's control, or manipulated by ShinRa, it didn't exactly bring her any happiness to hear his reasoning behind his actions. That lead to the attempt of an angry face, a face Eirika was not so good at! Her angry face was really just to cute, unintentionally, of course. "That is a terrible reason! " She scolded him. "I did not think it was possible to meet anyone with such a love for battle that would surpass my brothers..You two are reckless, do you know that? What about those in your life who care about you? Do you ever fear one day, a battle might be to great for even you? That one day, you might not be able to go back to your siblings? " He probably wouldn't care to hear her thoughts, but clearly she didn't care. She was going to speak her mind, if anything it would give her a little hope that maybe he might stop one day and think about them. There was a brief moment of silence as she listened to him speak of Avalanche, and for a moment, there was a moment of uncertainty in her eyes. This was new information, she never did question any of them after seeing her brother with them, that was all she needed to see to really trust them fully. It never really occurred to her that they too, had their own dark secrets..."I did not know this...I have only known them through my brother, and only for a short time. My brother..I trust him. If he trust's them, then I can only do the same.. Though I will not forget what you told me. In the time I have been with them, I have only seen them do good, and honestly, I can see that they are good people. I find it hard to believe they could ever do something so terrible to innocent people, and I do plan to find out from them at another time.." She would like to hear it from their side, not just his own. He did still work with ShinRa, so his word could not be completely trusted. "Very well then. I will look forward to our time together! " Oh-so-confidant! She smiled, giving a small wink. While doing such a thing was mostly out of character of her, she had a plan behind that cute wink and smile. If it could at all fluster him, even just a little bit, it would give her the moment she needed to surprise him, they were already very close to each other, as he continuously kept circling her like prey, it was in the moment of him becoming any bit of distracted that she would strike out her own leg to sweep under his, attempting to send him right down on his back, and just as quickly, he would have the steel of her rapier directly against his neck, enough that he could feel the stinging of the sharp point against his skin, it would most certainly draw blood if he moved any bit.
Had that all worked as she intended, he would see the slightly proud smile return to her features as she looked down at him, the blade still at his throat. "Is this better? " Her boot would come down to pin his wrist against the ground before he could attempt a strike at her with his spear.... There was only one thing she didn't come to realize, in her moment of brief lived glory, he was down on the ground, she was nearly standing over him....That skirt of hers, it wasn't exactly hard to see from his point of view.
