"No you bumbling idiot, it was not something you said. I want to be ready for whatever it is that is rustling that clump of bushes over there." His anger was evident in his voice as he was nearly growling at Krad. Don't give up he says. I haven't. I never will. Not as long as I know that rumor, nigh, legend. The thoughts ran through him like wildfire, giving him hope and setting a fire in his eyes. ~That little spark you have, protect it, for if you don't, someone will come and snuff it out~

Part of him wanted to break character and put this hood rat in his place; however, he restrained himself and continued his charade. Krad slowly turned around to the rustling bush behind him, taking a defensive stance beside the hotheaded youngster. "A simple, 'I think there's something behind that bush,' would've sufficed," the man said, sounding rather insulted and annoyed. Though he took a defensive stance, Krad did not bother summoning his weapons. Whatever was lurking behind those bushes wouldn't be worth the effort.

Life is an Illusion, Therefore, We all Believe the Same Lie ~ Devil's Bayou--> Deep Swamp~ Looking over to Krad, hearing his annoyed and insulted tone, Rasxa replied, "What? You have a problem with my condition? Nevermind... you could never understand. No one ever really understood me anyway." His reply went from being extremely ticked off to extremely depressed so quickly, it was as if someone inside Rasxa's brain had flicked a switch. The rustling stopped, as if whatever it was, had stopped to listen to the group in front of it. It had gotten closer before it had stopped. How can I save them if I'm like this? All screwed up with no heart. He thought, tears suddenly welling up in his eyes, unbidden. Rasxa watched the bushes, ignoring the tears that were now pouring down his face. ~That little spark you have, protect it, for if you don't, someone will come and snuff it out~

But again, he had to refrain from giving himself away. "Maybe if there's time," Krad said, revealing his paternal side, "I'd like to sit down and get to know you a little more so that I could understand you." He gave Rasxa a comforting smile--a smile he would give even to one of his own troubled children. "However, now is not the time. Who knows what's lurking behind those bushes."

I've never gotten that before... is that pity, or actual kindness? He mused to himself while staring at Krad, clearly not understanding. "However, now is not the time. Who knows what's lurking behind those bushes." Krad said, gesturing to the bushes that had began to move again, now more quickly as well as more with a sinister motive. Concentrating on the bush, suddenly about five Heartless arrived. Getting his scythe ready, Rasxa readied his first strike when one of the Soldier Heartless went after Window. Jumping in front of his friend, Rasxa blocked the attack, getting his hands scraped by the Heartless' claws. ~That little spark you have, protect it, for if you don't, someone will come and snuff it out~

must suffer the same injury.” ” [Devil's Bayou ~.~ Deep Swamp]Krad didn't flinch when the Heartless jumped out from behind the bushes. He kept his ground and waited for the Heartless to come to him; however, when one approached him, it stopped and stared at the man for a bit. As Dark tilted his head to one side, so did the Heartless. As he tilted to the other side, so did it. The beady-eyed shadow mimicked his every move before it suddenly rent asunder, without the older gentleman even lifting a finger, and turned into vapor, fizzling into oblivion. Krad looked over his shoulder and watch Rasxa as he defended Window from the attacking Heartless. The older man truly was a completely different person when he fought... There were four Heartless remaining, one of which Rasxa was fighting. Though the man could kill them all with a simple snap of his finger, he figured he had already displayed too much of his power with the previous shadow. Finally summoning his arm blades, the man leaped charged forward at one of the other Heartless; however, he accidentally tripped on a root from a nearby tree and fell face first into the mud once again. ...maybe he wasn't ALL that different when he fought...

~Window~ The two behind him bantered on. Window didn't really know how to deal with this sort of thing--by butting in, those two might get mad at him instead. So, he just pressed on, looking for some sort of material Youni could use besides muddy water and tree roots, all the while noting his companions' stories and emotional quirks. The both of them are rather odd, actually... Then again, so was Youni and Solaris Teodolis. Would that make Window and Nalo the minority in this instance? A sound from the foliage stopped Window in his tracks. He froze, body tense and pumping adrenaline, his newly-shod feet slowly sinking into the oozing swamp water. If something attacked, Window would not be able to react as fast. Holding the ball of fire out in front of himself in order to shed more light on the bushes, the man craned his neck to get a better look. A black mass leaped out toward the three of them. Heartless! Startled, Window tried to jump back, but his feet had become so lodged in the mud that the refused to move, resulting in Window falling backwards with his legs firmly planted in the mire. His eyes squeezed shut as his rump thudded on the bayou bottom and sent reverberations up through to his teeth. Opening them once again, he saw Rasxa standing in front of him, just having taken a blow from one of the attackers. "Rasxa!" he shouted with concern, struggling to his feet and sloshing over to the blonde. "Have you been injured?" Krad faceplanted next to them. "Gracious! And you too?" Window helped Krad up (if the other man allowed it), and, with the two others, squared off against the four Heartless surrounding them. "I...I wish I could be of some assistance to you..." the man muttered guiltily. If only he had some kind of combat training! "But...well, please remember that arguing with one another at this moment in time would not be beneficial to our situation. I will keep an eye on all of them and call out if one of them attempts to attack from a blind spot. I am deeply sorry I cannot help more." Their little clearing became a bit brighter as Window flicked the hand that held Solaris Teodolis' fire up above their heads. ((Thanks for keeping this alive, Rasxa and Volt. QnQ))

"Don't worry about me, they seem to be all heading straight for you. Just remember, I have always got your back, and if you want, I could even train you in combat, as soon as we get back to the ship." Rasxa said, Gritting his teeth as all four of the Heartless struck his hands, trying to get through to Window. As the area got brighter, it could be seen that Krad was all covered in mud. Maybe he tripped over that conveniently placed root over there. Rasxa remarked in his head as more Heartless struck at his scythe. Giving a wild smile, Rasxa flung his scythe around so that the blade faced the Heartless. Giving a swing, one of them was obliterated while the three still standing were forced to jump back from the scythe's deadly curve. Going back into a defensive position, they attacked again, catching his hands. ~That little spark you have, protect it, for if you don't, someone will come and snuff it out~ ((Yeah, no problem QD.))

The geomancer had been relatively silent compared to her cheery demeanor back in Traverse Town. Something about the atmosphere made her feel on edge, tense throughout her body. The Earth beneath her feet felt foreign, unwelcome... as if tainted with the same malice as whatever attacked her homeworld. She hated it; for once, she felt frightened, even amidst so many friends.
Suzu's breath hitched as soon as she saw the body in the distance, a body surrounded by a flock of people. She could tell, that whoever laid at their feet rested eternally. The ground trembled a little as if in response to her surging emotions. What were they facing now? Be strong, Maru is just at the ship... everything is going to be okay...

Aria didn't mind playing the waiting game; there was a certain blank smugness painted on her features as she stood patiently alongside the others. Whereas they seemed to almost lean forward in anticipation, she hung back, relying on the sense of sound to bring her news. It wasn't too long before she heard the first foreign footsteps and she permitted herself a slight smile.

As Alina stepped into the newly decorated Bizarre Ruins, she couldn't help but visibly wrinkle her nose at the sight. Whereas all other parts of the world seemed to be strewn into chaos, destroyed furniture here, misplaced and burning hedges there; but she could only describe this room as somewhat desolate. Plus, a body in the distance... was so distasteful to guests.
The dancer raised a delicate eyebrow but wisely kept her comments to herself as she cast a quick glance to both Kei and Yu. Her temper may have been short due to all the battles beforehand, but she wasn't dumb enough to openly invite conflict.

~Window~ [Devil's Bayou::Swamp] One of the helmeted Heartless managed to grab onto Rasxa's hands, interrupting his swing. Seeing an opportunity, Window slammed the little ball of fire down onto the claws of the attacker, immediately making the clearing a bit darker. However, it was only for a second. Hopefully the Heartless would jump back from his capture, otherwise it would be caught by another swing from Window. In either case, it should have bought Rasxa enough time to free himself. The man pivoted around and faced away from Rasxa and Krad again, keeping watch behind them. I can't afford to look away for long...But Window had underestimated the abilities of the Heartless. For, in that moment of darkness, from the shadows rose 8 smaller Heartless with round heads and no armor. When did these---? Oh dear... he thought as he watched the last one--another soldier-looking Heartless--take form from the shadows like a monster emerging from the depths of a black lake. "Caution, comrades! There are eight more Heartless here with large, yellow eyes, and one more with a helmet!" Four of the small ones leaped toward Krad (two at his face, one at his midsection and one at his feet), while two more took on Rasxa's legs and the last two jumped at Window's chest. The newest helmeted one danced in the back, waiting. ((Rasxa, did you want to control all of the original soldier Heartless' movements and reactions, since you introduced them?))

Life is an Illusion, Therefore, We all Believe the Same Lie ~ Devil's Bayou--> Deep Swamp~ At that moment, the area in front of him got so bright that he had to close his eyes tightly shut. When he could look again without going blind, one of the Heartless had been caught in the fire and looked badly burned. The other two were cringing. "Caution comrades! There are eight more Heartless here with large yello eyes and one more with a helmet!" As Window was saying this, a couple few mobbed Krad, two dug their very sharp claws into Rasxa's legs and he heard an oof behind him as Window went down. Growling, Rasxa could feel his heart pumping. "I'm getting sick of this... Time Attack!" Rasxa shouted, his body beginning to move so much faster than normal. It appeared to all the other beings in the area as if Rasxa had shimmered, but in actuality, he swung his scythe at the burned and cowering Heartless then turned and swung, knocking the two Heartless off of Window's chest. Then he spun in a circle, catching all of the Heartless off of Krad and flung them towards the now stand-still soldier Heartless. The spin knocked off the Heartless that had dug into Rasxa's legs. The last move that he did was to drive his scythe through the middle of the pile of confused Heartless. Becoming breathless and feeling faint, Rasxa collapsed beside the badly hurt Heartless pile in a defensive position, right in front of Window. The original soldier Heartless that had appeared were now gone, the hearts they had captured gone forever. ~That little spark you have, protect it, for if you don't, someone will come and snuff it out~ ((Hehe, oops, I forgot. ((Sorry, Rasxa, but if you don't use a keyblade to destroy the Heartless, then there's no hearts that are released when they're destroyed. Also, Window hadn't really gone down, the Heartless were just jumping at him. XD))~Window~ [Devil's Bayou::Swamp] Rasxa moved with incredible speed; Window's eyes could hardly follow the movement. In a blur, the Heartless that had nearly latched onto him were flung away, as well as the other Heartless that had appeared and jumped toward the group. However, the loner soldier Heartless that had appeared last wasn't going to stand still. It nimbly dodged out of the way of its oncoming brethren, leaving them to pile up in front of Window. The shimmering Rasxa drove his scythe down through the writhing black mass, but the attack left the young one severely weakened. At least the initial soldier Heartless were gone, but Window still didn't know how he could possibly fight these things. Stomp on them? He turned and called behind him, "Krad!" and hoped the other man would get the hint to help out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The two alligators hesitated in their hunt, sensing an influx of darkness. A look passed between them before they split, one headed for the girl and the other headed toward the heady scent of darkness and adrenaline. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As if being egged on by an approaching presence with a tainted heart, more soldier Heartless appeared, surrounding the group. "There hardly seems to be an end to these!" Window stiffly commented with a hint of bitterness. The members of this newest batch launched themselves at the trio, spinning like a tornado, each aimed for their heads. "Rasxa!" the muddied Window shouted, and jumped to protect the winded blonde in front of him. ((Fear not, there is going to be a point to this in the next post. I was just giving Volt a chance to rp in the battle. It's not fun if it's over quickly, right? XD))

must suffer the same injury.” ” [Devil's Bayou ~.~ Deep Swamp]Accepting Window's help, Krad quickly rose to his feet. "Yeah, I'm fine," he said, brushing off and flicking away some of the mud. "Just, uh... tripped." He looked behind him at the culprit responsible for his fall and glared deeply at the tree's root. Sensing the shift in darkness around them, the older gentleman's attention was redirected to the other two just as several more Heartless popped up. Immediately, a group of them jumped at him, though he showed no fear. In fact, if one paid close attention, he was grinning cheerfully; however, his expression quickly changed to that of surprise when Raxsa used some sort of time altering attack and with a shimmer swiped all the Heartless, finishing off the initial Soldier Heartless and leaving behind injured Shadow Heartless. It was then Window called out for help. Krad immediately stepped into action and bolted forward towards the group, leaped into the air, and threw a multitude of knives at the injured Heartless around Rasxa and Window. Since they were already weakened, four of them quickly fizzled out of existence and those who didn't felt the steel of Krad's arm blades pass through them as he landed on top of two Shadow Heartless, then sliced at another two before him. Things seemed to be looking up, but it was far from over. More Soldier Heartless appears out of the darkness and began spinning like tornados as they moved forward at the group. Once again, sand began pouring out of the gourd tied onto his sash and quickly surrounded the group before the Heartless could approach them. As soon as they were close enough, a hardened dome of sand incased the trio, deflecting the attacking Heartless away, then, turning back to a thin line of sand circling the group, slithered back into the gourd. Krad did not want to reveal his ability to manipulate sand, but he had no choice. He was well prepared to do so back on the ship to protect Youni, this scenario felt no different. "Besides, better this than that," he thought to himself. "Is everyone alright?" the older man asked, not bother to turn to face the two behind him. His eyes remained fixated at the Soldier Heartless, who were now back on their feet and ready for round two.
