It's actually spelt perogy in english I think... it's a stuffed dumpling. ^^;
It's pyrih in Ukrainian. There's flavoured potato or meat inside.. cheese, vegeatables, whatever you want. I love them because I make them and eat them cold in summer, with frozen peas and lamb.

That doesn't sound anything like what it seems if you were to pronouce it properly.

xD I know. But it's such fun to type.

Isn't it something like "dsh't leane gsyg atsne sh šnile gsy'ge mixihv ih tne dgeaaihv"?

Oh, I love those things. xD The Russian Teahouse nearby sells them. Wonderful stuff.

I'm sorry I've never heard of them. They're more Slavic are they? The Slavic culture isn't very big where I live, more Italin, Greek and Chinese.

Eccentric Iconoclast -- Well most of it looks Greek, but some of it doesn't look Greek now that I look closely.

It would sound something like...

thsi't ieave gsi(?) (?)tsne si (?)ighii(?) ii t(?)e th(?)e(??)ii(?).

confused

LIES! Perog = something like pie. What you're talking about is perozhok(Sounds like it's the same, but it's not).

Here

I spell it Perogy because that's how it is often spelled commercially in Canada, I'm sorry if this is wrong or a colloquialism- english is not my mother tongue.

Either way, I've lived long enough in Lviv, (persay, my entire life) to know what is a pyrih.

There's a Language Day?

Or is this in an "every day is Language Day here!" sense?

Nooo, apparently (at least in the Netherlands) it's Language Day.

It'd be awesome if every day was language day, though. xD
