They found a rather vacant spot on the beach to battle. At least, it was as vacant as it could possibly get during a party. Kilik wrapped his belongings in his shirt and set them down on the sand, taking Lairon's ball out of his side pouch. "Where in the world have you been, Rena?" he asked, tossing the ball up and down.
She looked at him and smiled a bit. "Around. After what happened with Maz, I didn't think to come straight to you. I figured..." she shook her head and dug her boot into the sand. "I'll tell you about that later! First, we battle!" Rena giggled and tossed the ball, "And just because I'm doing this for you and Lairon doesn't mean I'll go easy on you!" Obviously she wasn't, since her first Pokemon was none other than her Hitmontop. The Fighting-type spun about in the sand in a taunting manner.
Kilik gulped and released Lairon. He hoped that this would be enough to push him over the edge into evolution. "Ready?" he looked at the beast when he came out of the ball. The Iron Pokemon slammed his mammoth paws into the ground and roared loudly. He glared at the Hitmontop, but felt himself shrink back very slightly. Even though his opponent wasn't scary in the slightest, there was just something about it that put him off. "Oh no!" he slapped his forehead, "Hitmontop has Intimidate, doesn't he?"
"You're quick on the uptake, cutie." She winked, "I figured that's why You Know Who picked you to head all of us way back when." Rena swiped the air with her arm. "Okay, Hitmontop, use Brick Break!"

Kurine walked along the path and looked around, somewhat unwilling to go back into the tall grass that grew on either side of the path. She really didn't like the way it felt brushing against her skin, and it was pretty creepy, too. She made her way down the path for a while before finally stepping into the grass, continuing to walk as she pushed the tall blades out of her way.
She kind of wished she could just have Cyndaquil look through the grass on his own, but that would be no fair on his part. The girl let out a little sigh and kept pushing through the grass, hoping to run into a Pokemon soon. She wasn't sure how far she'd already gone, but it felt like a lot.

Kasiya let out a yelp as something warm and fuzzy jumped up onto her back, nearly causing her to fall face-first into the sand. She managed to hold her balance and glared at the Raichu who was busy nuzzling her face happily. "Shocker..." Kasiya mumbled, reaching up to rub the mouse's cheek. "Don't go running off like that!"
Leviathan hopped back after her successful hit but could do nothing as her temporary teammate was slammed back with an incredibly heavy hit. She turned and glared at the Makuhita before trying to backpedal a bit, although the alluring scent that the strange, oddly intimidating bug had spread over the field made that difficult to do. She glanced over at the Poliwag, grateful for its well-timed Ice Beam which prevented her from taking serious damage.
Kasiya grit her teeth at the sight of the Larvitar lying in the sand, but as he pulled himself to his feet Kasiya smiled. He sure reminded her of her own stubborn Larvitar. She pointed at the Makuhita and called out to Rosemary. "Hit it with Magical Leaf," she commanded. Rosemary reared back her head and swung her leaf forward, sending a volley of shimmering leaves flying after the Fighting-type. After seeing the unavoidable attack go off, Kasiya turned to Crenu. "If Levi and Poliwag combine their Ice Beams together, I bet we can take out one of those bugs in one shot," she said, although she wasn't sure if he would go for it or not. Without waiting for an answer, she called out to her Marshtomp. "Levi, use your Ice Beam on that one," she commanded firmly, pointing at the Masquerain. With a quick nod to confirm, Levi opened her mouth and let her Ice Beam fly.
=-=-=-=-= Combusken barely had time to stop and catch her breath before she looked up in time to see Helios smash into her. Her best attempts to keep her footing failed as the fox's strength outweighed her own. She was pushed to the ground with little effort, and she closed her eyes, chest heaving from the strain of battle. She pulled herself up to her hands and knees, and slowly looked up to make eye-contact with the Vulpix. She knew she couldn't best him, but she wasn't going to end it without a fight.
Jaeshan could tell from Combusken's breathing that she was almost done for, but he couldn't help but feel the same way she did. If she was going down, it would be with a bang. He slipped his right hand into the pocket of his swim trunks and closed his eyes. "Rock Slide."
Combusken's eyes flashed open and she jumped to her feet. Raising both clawed hands high over her head she screeched at the sky, stomping the sand flat around her with her powerful legs and feet. Rocks began to shoot up from the sand in front of her, gathering in the air like a strange, floating mountain. On her command, the rock formation broke apart, stones beginning to rain down onto the beach all around them.

Riza didn't really notice when Donny took his Poochyena and stormed off, as she and Sneasel were too busy celebrating their very first win. "You're awesome, Sneasel!" Riza exclaimed, hugging her Pokemon happily. "If you can make quick work of all of your opponents just like that, you'll be a shoe in for contest battles!"
Still carrying Sneasel in her arms, Riza sat back down on her towel to check the Pokemon over for injuries. She had a bruise or two, and there were a few puncture marks on her arm from where she had been bitten but other than that she was just fine. A little tired but fine. Sneasel sighed and stretched out on the towel, deciding to recover her energy with a quick nap. "Mmm, good idea," Riza yawned, leaning back do do the same. Maybe today wasn't going to be so bad after all. She had managed to win her first battle only a few days after setting out from home. "And soon we'll be winning ribbons..." she murmured dreamily, smiling to herself.

Helios gave himself a quick shake, trying to loosen some of the sand from his body. However when Combusken started screeching he looked up, a few grains of sand becoming the least of his worries as a wall of rock suddenly came crashing down from the sky. "Helios, move!" Keegan shouted, not really sure what to make of the situation. He glared over at Jaeshan, fists clenched tightly in annoyance. So much for going easy, he thought angrily.
Being small had its advantages, something for which Helios was eternally grateful for right now. His roan-red body was a blurry streak as he raced from spot to spot, narrowly avoiding being crushed at every turn. The Vulpix certainly didn't escape Combusken's Rock Slide unscathed as he crawled from the wreckage, battered and bruised. Both Pokemon and trainer glared over at their opponents, blood boiling. "That's it, no more Mr. Nice-guy," Keegan growled before thrusting his hand towards Combusken. "Helios, blast them with Heat Wave!"
Yes! Now this was what it was all about! Helios planted his feet firmly in the sand before taking a deep breath, using his anger as a fuel. Keegan smirked as Helios blasted his trademark Heat Wave all over the battlefield. Let's see how Jaeshan likes that!

Suddenly Dakra remebered. "The Pidgey!" He yelled and ran back into the Pokemon Center. He checked in with the Nurse. "The Pidgey is in good condition, is it your?" "No," Dakra answered, "I battled it out on Route 31, but when i saw it was bleeding I knew something was wrong." "The was very kind of you, but could I ask you a favor? The Pidgey needs to be brought back to the wild, so could you do that for me?" "Of course!!!"
Dakra left the Pokemon Center with Sherlock healed, and the Pidgey on his shoulder. He headed off in the direction of Route 31

Dakra walked out of the city, and headed to the area where Pidgey and him had meet. He set him down and looked him in the eye.
"You are a tough pokemon," Dakra said. "It was nice knowing you. I hope we meet again." He petted the Pidgey on the head, got up and walked back a little. The pidgey look at Dakra for a little while, and then flew up in the air.
Suddenly Sherlock smelled something diffrent. It smelled like another Cyndaquil. He ran into the tall grass.
"What?" Dakra looked at the area where Sherlock had gone to and ran after him...

"Since when were you ever nice?" Jaeshan grumbled, probably louder than he should have. Combusken hit the dirt as the intense heat scorched the battlefield, and even Jaeshan had to back off several feet as it was too hot to bear. When the heated haze cleared, Combusken was lying face-down on the ground, completely fainted. Jaeshan closed his eyes and recalled her, knowing that she did her best and it wasn't her fault that Keegan and Helios went too far. Jaeshan was thankful for his ability to control his anger and he simply shrugged. "That wasn't bad," he admitted, quickly reflecting on the fight. Combusken wasn't anywhere near the Vulpix's level yet she'd held her own pretty well for a while. He clipped her Pokeball back into place, his hand brushing up against Beldum's by accident as he did so. The sphere rumbled a bit before the silver-coloured Pokemon burst from his Pokeball and hovered around Jaeshan. The first thing he noticed was that Beldum was acting a little strange. "What's wrong, Beldum?" he asked, but the Pokemon didn't respond. Instead he just continued to hover.
Jaeshan looked over to Keegan, still trying to keep his anger in check. "What now?" he asked, keeping an eye on Beldum. "We could keep battling, you know, for fun or whatever." Beldum seemed to like that idea, but Jaeshan didn't want a repeat of what just happened. "Just settle down already," he told the Pokemon.
=-=-=-=-= One last jet of flames from Mai's Typhlosion was enough to take Bryan's Ursaring out of contention, and the two trainers smiled before meeting in the middle. "Much better than last time," 'Cammy' said with a smile, setting her messenger bag down on the ground as she knelt down beside the fallen Pokemon. She handed a few vials to Bryan, who used them to restore Ursaring's energy. Giovanni's orders crackled over her headset and Mai inwardly scoffed before watching Mike and Kilik walk away. Elekid and Magby were far from rare, and she figured her boss was only really interested in them because they belonged to two of their primary targets. After restoring Kero's health and thanking her for her efforts, she recalled the Typhlosion into her Pokeball and placed it back onto the strap of her bag - much like the way Mike carried his Pokemon around. Standing up, she and Bryan had another quick look around. There had to be more interesting and rare Pokemon around than just those two. After all, trying to steal from any of the familiar children would be far too risky.
A glimmering Pokemon caught her eye just then and Mai casually turned to study it. Not only was it a rare Pokemon, but it was oddly coloured as well. She made a note of it on her multi-functional communicator, taking care to make note of the strange balloon-like Pokemon as well. "Let's go," she said, not making eye-contact with Bryan before heading down the beach again. "Keep your eyes open," she added, to which the Silver Squad leader responded with a curt nod. He fell into line beside his superior, the two looking the part of the perfect beach-going couple.

Mike took a deep breath and almost gagged. The air here was so much different than what he was used too. It had a sort of oceanic taste to it. "Surprise surprise." said Mike indignantly, laying down his blanket, which of course had a giant flame decal on it. After a moment of kicking around in the sand he sat down and relaxed, set on just enjoying the sights. Oh were they glorious. After a few minutes of sight seeing, he looked around, surprised to see Riza hopping up and down like a ninny no more than fifteen feet away. "How did I miss that?" he wondered, taking a few moments to look her over. She was pretty good looking, but something about her just seemed off. She seemed pretty distant and bitter when she spoke about herself back there. "Must be a Summers." said Mike with a chuckle. It almost was like her personality bled over into her looks. It was quite interesting. It took him a few moments to realize he was staring quite awkwardly. Thankfully she appeared to be napping. After rating her a possible B- he tilted his head back and closed his eyes. I wonder what Flannery was doing.
-----
"You don't have to just use fire moves," explained the girl as she and her Pokemon walked to a more open area. "I'm doing this for you, so I'll be the one with a handicap." She waved her hand dismissively, not wanting to hear any of Kirsa's honorable junk. "But that doesn't mean you can just sit tight. If I hit you with three fire moves in a row I start attacking for real. So you best keep on your toes." Wasting no time, Sasha called out to her Pokemon. "Let the training begin! Kitsune, Ember attack!"
The fox flared out her many tails, lowering herself down and taking in a deep breath. After a moments preparation Kitsune shot out a clump of small fireballs at the little Houndour, keeping low to the ground.

Kirsa and Hans followed Sasha and Kitsune, the purple haired girl frowning just a bit. The conditions for the training certainly did seem more fair, and while it didn't make Kirsa feel completely better about it, she would raise no more protest. "Very well then," Kirsa spoke as she moved to her place across from Sasha. "I will hold nothing back." She was pleased when Sasha got right down to business and ordered the first assault - expecting this, Kirsa was ready with a command of her own. "Hans! Dodge it! Dodge everything that fox throws at you!"
The Houndour readied himself, waiting for the oncoming flames to get close before springing to the side, though it appeared he waited a moment too long. The flames licked at his side, yet no damage was done. Strike one of three. "Voraus!" Another sharp command from Kirsa, and Hans tilted his head back to let loose the eerie howl his kind was known for, causing the noise in the surrounding area to die down a little. Doing so made him feel empowered, and once the howl died away, he looked to the Ninetails with a scowl. He was going to give it his all.

Kurine let her Cyndaquil out of his Poke Ball after a little bit, and had him help her in her search for wild Pokemon. After wandering around for a while longer, Kurine stopped and let out another sigh. Where had all the Pokemon gone? Maybe they were just good at hiding...
Cyndaquil was wondering the same thing, but with a different conclusion. He seemed to think that, because he'd defeated so many wild Pokemon before, they were all afraid of him. Kurine noticed the smug look on her Pokemon's face and blinked, only being able to wonder what was running through his mind.
The little fire-type began wandering a bit farther away, sniffing at the ground as he caught the scent of another Pokemon. He lifted his nose and spotted a familier dark-bluish-green kind of color through the grass, and made his way over to the other Cyndaquil.

Train wasn't sure whether or not to approach the Raichu's trainer, seeing as how she was in the middle of a battle and all, but Pikachu seemed not to care either way and followed after his new friend, stopping maybe a foot away from the other trainer and chattering to Raichu.
"Pikachu! Wait!" Train cried, but he didn't even slow, and she followed after him, stopping quickly and scooping up her Pokemon in the middle of his sentance. "You can't just run off like that, you know," Train scolded her Pokemon, but gave him a small squeeze to show that she wasn't mad.

Kilik couldn't think of a way to get Lairon out of harm's way. He grit his teeth together. He snapped his fingers a few times, thinking through his moves. "Protect!" he called, clenching his fists on impulse. The beast planted his feet into the sand and covered his body in a mysterious green barrier. He watched Hitmontop bounce off the barrier and land directly in front of him. The Protective barrier shattered immediately after Hitmontop's attack ended. The trainer smiled and punched the air in front of him. "Okay, Lairon! Go with your Take Down!" Lairon plowed forward, tufts of sand bursting up with every massive step.
Rena smiled. Yes, this was the Kilik she knew! He never let up, not even in a friendly sparring match. The girl clapped her hands. "Hitmontop, use Counter!" The spinning top Pokemon took the Take Down head on, and he felt the attack go through every bone in his body. Attempting to stop Lairon was like trying to stop a train; it wasn't going to happen. After shaking off the damage, his tail began to glow brightly and a smirk appeared on his face.
"Hiiiitmon..." with a spinning jump into the air, he brought his tail right down on top of Lairon's head, "TOP!!"

"Yeah I guess..." Keegan shrugged, looking down as Helios sat down by his feet. It had been tougher than he thought but he'd done it. With one final shake the Vulpix loosened more sand from his fur and looked over at the blonde boy. He yawned and flicked his tails, obviously ready for more.
"So... how many Pokemon?" Keegan asked a bit casually, feeling somewhat confident now that he had seen Combusken in action. Now he was aware of the fact that Jaeshan was a fairly formidable trainer but he knew that unless he continued to challenge strong trainers like him, then he, Helios, and the rest of his Pokemon wouldn't have the motivation to become stronger themselves. The redhead knelt down in the sand next to Helios. The fox yawned and nuzzled his trainer's hand affectionately. "Sow what do you say, Jae?" he asked again, unable to remove the smirk he wore.

For the third time that day Riza felt herself dozing off, but this time nothing interrupted her. The battle kept replaying itself in her mind as she kept trying to analyze it to see how she and Sneasel could be better. Her Pokemon was fast and she could already tell that speed would be quite an asset on its own. She also subconsciously came to the conclusion that Pokemon Training and Pokemon Coordinating went hand in hand, as every Coordinator out there had once started off as a trainer. 'I guess that means that I am a Pokemon Trainer after all,' she thought, turning over in her half-sleep. The sun was pleasantly warming on her back and she rested comfortably on her towel. The warmth from the sand underneath her felt good as well, and the fact that it was loosely packed meant that it made for a good, soft place to lay down.
Sneasel's nap lasted less than half as long as Riza's did, and when the Pokemon opened her eyes she was already feeling much better. Not one-hundred percent, but definitely better. "Snee?" she asked curiously when she saw that her trainer was still asleep, but she decided against waking her up. Sneasel couldn't help but giggle at the thought of how much grumpier her trainer would be if she missed out on her late-morning nap. Instead she stretched her arms and legs and looked around, seeing the strange fire-obsessed boy from earlier laying on a towel nearby. With one last glance at Riza she slowly made her way over to say hello. Just because Riza wanted to be a friendless sourpuss didn't mean she had to be! "Snee sel snee!" she said happily, waving at the boy and all his flame-adorned glory.
