Children Of The Flame

Gion nodded. Exactly, he agreed. He tilted his head and looked at Lore thoughtfully, then brought up his hands and signed, I think you understand a lot more about things than you think you do ... or than you let on that you do.

Seeker sighed. "Not a terribly long time though, right?" she asked him hopefully. "Because I think it would be fun for you to be out here with us all the time!"

"Well... I never know when I"m in a different area. I think, I tend to over think things so I'm never really sure if that is the right assumption or not because what I know makes me second guess myself," Lore admitted.

He had been a bit too well trained to be aware of culture differences and all sorts of things he should be to be the so called 'critical' thinker. Even though he knew there was really no such thing.

"I don't know," Daemon admitted, "I've never been stuck in a sword before."

He tried to pat her on the head, which meant his hand was hovering above her hair. As he was fading away.

"Don't worry, you can still talk to me, as long as your father lets you."

Gion chuckled silently. Well, you can safely say whatever you want here, he signed, grinning. I know I probably scared you a bit earlier ... sorry about that, I was talking to Daemon at the same time and I got a little confused was all. But really, we're quite easy-going, and I would love to know your views of things.

He chuckled again. Besides, it's one way to get to know my future brother-in-law.

Seeker giggled. "He will!" she promised, grinning impishly, and it was obvious from the gleam in her eye that it was more than instinct speaking. She made the promise as one who knew.

Lore chuckled at that in return, he supposed if one was to put it that way. It would make a lot of sense, and at least he could rest easy it wasn't anything he did.

"True, I really shouldn't have been unnerved by it, it's an old habit," Lore murmured.

Daemon couldn't help but laugh at that as he faded back out. He could almost feel now the kind of floatness that came from not actually having a body and not being able to see or hear anything but through Gion.

"Be good..."

Gion didn't see when Daemon vanished, returning once again to the sword, but he didn't need to: he could feel it. It was a startling feeling, as though ... something had been returned to him, as if a part of him that he hadn't realized was missing had been found. He blinked a few times and stared at the aura surrounding Lore which he was certain had been there a moment before but which he hadn't noticed until Daemon had returned to the sword.

He licked his lips thoughtfully. It felt strange now, as if it were he himself changing whenever Daemon entered or left the sword - though he supposed it made sense, if it was his strength that was enabling Daemon to do so in the first place.

Seeker just smiled at the sword knowingly.

I'm always good, she thought, sending the message into Daemon's mind with her magic. Even if she couldn't hear his reply, she knew that he would have heard hers.

Lore blinked in startlement as he noticed the man that had appeared was no longer there. He stared at the open stop for a moment until he noticed that Gion was watching him. As if something had just popped into the other man's mind. It didn't worry Lore, no, he was just curious, but it was all a curious thing.

Well....

Daemon's mental voice rang clear unlike before when he was in the physical world. It took him a bit to adjust being back here, though he didn't mind. He couldn't help notice that Gion too needed some adjusting, as well. Daemon couldn't help but wonder if the bleed over to powers would last Gion for the rest of his life after he was gone.

That was certainly odd.

Gion realized suddenly that he was staring at Lore, and he smiled, hoping that he hadn't worried the man unnecessarily again. But he had focused his attention on the man just long enough to realize that his aura, which he hadn't really paid attention to at first, was kind and gentle, and all of a sudden he knew for certain that he could not have chosen a better man for his sister if he had tried. All doubts faded in just that instant, and he relaxed.

Sorry, he signed to Lore, slightly embarrassed to have been caught staring like that. Daemon returned to the sword ... it felt a little strange, is all.

Then to Daemon he thought, That was most certainly odd ... I've grown so used to you being in my head that it felt quite strange without you there.

Seeker was feeling bored now that Daemon had disappeared again and she couldn't play with him, and she headed towards the door.

"I'm going to go find Galdor and Neko," she announced to the others. "They're taking a long time to come in."

And with that, she disappeared.

"I see, that makes sense, from the sounds of it this had never happened before," Lore murmured.

He watched in amusement as Seeker went off to do her own thing. She was quite an active little girl he thought to himself. Lore turned his attention back to Gion and nodded at that.

"That is fine, don't worry about it."

I do admit that not talking the way I do now and being able to see and act on my own is quite odd myself. Though the emptness of mind is certainly the most oddest feeling.

Daemon admitted, since he had been attached more or less to Gion for a very long time now. It made him wonder how they were going to deal with it once they were separated.

Gion smiled ruefully and signed, Yes, it's the first time he's come out of the sword ... he's been in there for about three hundred years, and he's been with me for ... has to be about twenty years now, thereabouts.

His eyes glanced after his daughter as she disappeared, and he smiled warmly at Lore again. She's an adventurous spirit ... much more like myself than her mother.

He thought for a moment before replying to Daemon. I'm not even so sure it was just an emptiness of mind ... as much as an emptiness of ... self. I'm so used to having you inside me that it's so strange not to have you in me.

Lore was certainly surprised, "That is... a very long time to be in a sword."

Though he supposed he shouldn't expect anything less, though he didn't know why Daemon was in the sword for so long. Of course he didn't know the sword's history whateever it might be.

Dameon had to admit when Gion put it that way, it was very strange. However he had ben so busy contemplating on how strange it was to be there and not there at the same time he hadn't thought about it as much until now. It did beg the question on what will it be like when they separated for good.

I wonder how big of an adjustment this is going to be..."
