For normal human characteristics, Toast, the five-second wall separates the average runner from a sprinter. Basically, if you can run 40 yards in five seconds or less (human limits are about 4.2 seconds), you're a sprinter, and are capable of high-speed movement. 3nodding

Don't worry, I've played enough D & D (Not by choice) to know what you mean.

Actually, my character has a really lanky build. He's pretty damn tall, but super light. He's known for his really high jumps and flips, which I use pretty decisively, fully knowing how dangerous they can be. So it's only natural he'd run pretty quickly.

*Points to Kharns profile* He could do a thousand meter dash and beat a normal person doing a hundred meter dash.

o.O

Seriously?

I know guys who are pushing that limit. I get a 4.8-4.6, but there's a guy I know who gets 4.4, which actually makes him a helluva lot faster than me when it comes to running anything more than a 40.

@Cael: It's past th'speed of light, actually...Fierce can move around 195,000mps, and Fierce Deity somewhat faster than that....but, since they pretty much have bottomless wells of power to draw from, they just need to put some more 'oomph' in to speed up further. That's pretty ******** up, and while they are both demons, that's an explanation for neither their speed nor their ability t'not die when moving at said velocity...

It has lots t'do with their natural durability, which is partially due to their unique species, but mostly their powerful ki signatures. Their strong personal auras also defend them against much of the harshness of moving at that speed....obviously, without that, not only could they not move so fast, but if they were pushed/pulled at that speed, they'd be killed... =P

...same principle as Deity's Shunkido, though his temporary barrier is several times more powerful, and drains his energy...while his devil forms can't be drained of energy.

Political science and history are both pretty darn interesting, too. I really enjoyed my Government class. I'm someone who can actually sit and listen to a lecture and get something out of it. I learn best by hearing it, I think. I forgot the word for it.

History FTW.

I personally enjoy just about anything relating to ancient history [Augustus and back], mainly Roman and Middle Eastern history, though. I've always been interested in the civilisations, armies, and cultures of people further east, but none of it sticks with me nearly as well as stuff from Europe/Middle East.

Latin is a great subject for that. Typically, you get to learn more about the history and culture, too. Not to mention you can translate stuff on your own. My dad loves the Romans. He has tons of books and tapes on the Roman civilization.

4.4 is about average for a high-level runner with strong potential. By the way, the main reason I know this s**t is because I managed the Track & Field teams in high school, so the memory kinda sticks. xd

If you run a .6-.8, Vizzle, do you run, or play any sports?

And Jak, Kharn must have ******** MONSTROUS calf muscles. Overflowing out the socks and all that jazz. xd

Shitshitshit... I actually just started thinking about how much my human limits are gonna' totally 'cause problems in this thing. I know I could easily keep up combat-wise with all those demons and vampires, but now I'm thinking about stuff like speed, and flight... And tenacity, too. Oh well. I'll try...

Moo, what do you think lawl?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 19, 2006 12:43 am

Moo - I play football, and do shot and disc in track. In football I'm a defensive lineman, so my speed doesn't come intp play unless I flood one of the gaps. That's how I get my speed, I place all my weight forward in a 3-point stance, dunno how other people do it. If I run standing up, I get the .8 mark. I'm trying to improve that though, because you have to hit .5 for linebacker on our team, regardless of weight, strength, or size.

Cael - Yep. I haven't quite decided on a profession, but I fully intend on having it focused on some form of history, so I plan on learning Latin.

It's sort of the same for Curse. Part of his Aether and being able to become partially or fully a form of energy, such as light. It's not so much that he can actually move his legs fast enough or with enough power to generate such a speed. Hell, I can't see that even happening for someone with plenty of durability. Depending on the size/shape of the leg, you'd have to actually move your legs that fast. As Jak said it would probably end up tearing flesh, muscles, grinding bone like nobody's business. Humans alone can wear down their joints from simple repeated jogging. Even joints of steal would wear down from that friction.

With Curse it's more like he propels himself for those top speeds through the use of such energy. But I'm definitely not keeping that 75% speed for the tourney. I'm not gonna put a number on it for now. It almost seems superfluous in the end once you reach hypersonic levels, especially when restricted to an arena of this size.

My reincarnator character Seshmi can run at about 1500mph. sweatdrop
But then again, his body isn't exactly... normal.

Latin was a damn good subject for me. I learned more about English by studying Latin. Not to mention I got to study perhaps my favorite language. It's pretty easy, too.

Seriously?

The opinion I got from someone else was that it was hard as hell, but they enjoyed it.

Most Latin I know deal with military stuff, and even then, I may not know the exact English translation, but I know what it's talking about.

Doesn't matter how strong or how fast they are--if they make a stupid move, punish them for it with better technique. 3nodding

That is a mightily kickass pic, Jak. Who did that?

And ******** A, Vizzle, you're FAST for a lineman--but I can see why the linebacker would have to be faster. I think it was .6 for my school, since the football coach would hand us some of his guys every now and then to run with our sprinters. 3nodding
