Was going to say but thanks Cael for pointing that out of Robert Thomas. Though that post lead to arguments and disputes about how the fight went

Heck, that kind of heat would probably be enough to give him third degree burns, specifically wherever the railgun comes into contact with his body.

Wow. Mach 3 is 36 miles a minute. And he said the railgun was, what, 250 a minute?
Hey, where's the sound barrier at? I wanna know it for Curse so I can pin a reasonable measurement of max speed on him.

Though I had stated wrong I now correct Deity on the true speed of Mach 3.
mach 3 = 1 020.87 m/s
Abandon your imperialistic ways and except the glory of the I.S.
That and he turned his arm, robotics, into the rail gun. Somethings I just don't bother with, most often I'm more concerned by effects then how someone got about it.
Cael, not 250 miles per minuet, 250 miles per second. Sound is 340m/s.

Mach 3 = 2,160 miles per hour = 965.85~ meters per second = 3,168 feet per second Deity: Quick, What's Mach 7? My article said that Boats will be firing with the rail gun at Mach 7+!!! Quick! /me leaves.

Fun.
I really should do some more research into rail-gun stuffs. It's really interesting. Ya. Bye for real.

@Nilly: How do you figure that three times the speed of sound travels at over 1,020 meters per second...? xD Mach speed is 720mph, depending on the altitude...so...where is our math differing?

This is what I get for lurking over at a site that tries to objectively quantify most series, sci-fi and fantasy, and was created by one of the best Star Wars vs Star Trek debators there is.
Deity, my google-fu is strong. That and it's probably just an issue of conversion. I seriously try to stick to metric whenever I need anything done exacting.

@Nilly: That could explain it...this is the math Deity is using, with a bit of help from OnlineConversion.com:
Mach 3 is 2,160 miles per hour (720 x 3)....that is 11,404,800 feet per hour. That's 190,080 feet per minute, and 3,168 feet per second. Since a meter is approximately 3.28 feet...Mach 3 is approximately 965.85 meters per second. =P

The problem you're encountering is that you start with miles per hour, or at least I think to start.
Let's start small.
1,000 meters equals 1 kilometer 1,609 meters is 1.609 kilometers or 1 mile
The established speed of sound is 340 meters per second, so we start with 340 meters, to get to your starting spot of miles per hour we need to convert the meters per second to meters per hour.
So we take 340 X 60 X 60 and we get 1224000 meters per hour, that number is a little too large so lets convert to kilometers per hour, so we divide it by 1,000.
Now with a total of 1224 kilometers a hour. To convert this to miles we divide it by 1.609 for 760 .72 miles per hour.
Times this by 3 for Mach 3 we get 2282.16 miles per hour. Now we need to change it to kilometers.
So we times it by 1.609 for 3672 kilometers per hour, now times a thousand for meters.
3672000 meters per hour
And divide by 60.
61200 meters per minuet
And again by 60.
For a final answer of 1020 meters per second for Mach 3.
In conclusion you were off by a magnitude of 20 for the speed of sound in miles per hour. Googling also proves that mach 1 is 760mph.

I've seen Mach 1 set at 760 mph closer to the ground, or an altitude of 0, but it does differ based on altitude.
