Alpha raised his eyebrow having only just registered these change of plans. "You want to go to Yithra today you say?" he paused scratching his chin in thought "Could do I suppose though depending on Mu I could always drag her along with me. She likes elves and travel so might not be a bad idea" he pondered.
Amane giggled taking the wrapper from Zadina "Thank you there Merric and thats a nice hat, might need to get you an eyepatch to go with it when your a little older" she joked petting his tiny wings. "Must be odd that the book is so similar to what you have despite the language and culture thing"
Hebal smiled saluting the chicobo "Good find Captain Merric. Though I don't mind if you want to take Amane to Yithra and I say its ok so if anyone complains about you being a little late I am her mum and it would be insulting to rush the king of the elves about too much" she giggled knowing she could probably get away with that excuse.

Felina gasped slowing down to check on Oassu "I'm so sorry are you ok? I did warn you to brace yourself for the speed burst" she frowned looking at her hands in case her magic was needed. "Falling off a horse can be much more painful than falling off a chocobo" she sighed watching Corella fall back only just having noticed the other horses had slowed down again.
Satoshi snickered returning the kiss "And to you Gil. Now did you manage to see your costume yet?" she asked indicating to the corner of the room. "Though would Enkidu being happy with a good meal be that hard for you to watch. I'm sure you can have other things that take that off your mind" she added nuzzling him.

Oassu nodded indicating for the horsemen to continue on the same pace "Sorry I ain't used to riding a horse but don't worry I landed fine" he grunted gripping the saddle better for a gallop "Though I shouldn't see why it'd be any worse than falling off a chocobo, horses are only slightly taller" he mumbled.
Gil shook his head "No I've not had a proper look yet," he said stroking Satoshi's hip before getting up and moving over to it "So want me to try it on?" he asked poking the cumbersome-looking dragon costume curiously unsure how to get in.
Zadina bit his lip "Sure I suppose that's ok I just hope the Elder Viera doesn't get too cross with us for keeping Amane away so long, still we really need to get you to pass your summoner training so we can go where we will" he said happily before closing his book "And it's not so unusual, as an elven noble I've been trained to be fluent in Agralian and a bit of Viera and Nu Mou tongue since most young nobles become diplomats for a while, if I'd spent more time at home I'd be being trained to be fully fluent in Viera and No Mou language" he said to Amane.

Amane gasped and mumbled a small "ooh" from being impressed "So you can speak a lot of languages then. I thought you would only be able to speak Agralian and Elvish but thats really cool and will be very useful for our travels later. And I'm trying real hard but the elders say I'm not ready for the summoner trials yet" she complained.
Hebal smiled and ruffled Amane's hair "You'll get your turn to do the trials soon enough. They are just being cautious so you can be really ready for the big world ahead out the forest. Theres all kinda of nasty fiends and demons and things out there. No offence to you guys but most demons arent very nice" she added to Jeckhart and Alpha
Alpha chuckled "None taken don't worry. I know theres some right grumpy demons out there. Plus they probably want to build up your skills at a gradual pace Amane. So you can focus on your studies too"

Felina sighed turning back to face the trees coming up in front of them "Well the height makes a difference and the horse has a lot more physical power behind them when they throw. Chocobos tend to have a better affinity for magic instead. But as you can see the back end of the palace is just on the edge of the forest"
Corella paused concentrating for a moment on reaching up and making a grab for one of the pink flowers hanging down from the vines of a lower tree branch "Yeah thats why the back walls are so large. But we're making good progress. That little side path there I know goes to outpost one. Probably would have been easier to just meet us there really"
Satoshi shook her head "Well you can try if you want but its a big costume so I would recommend getting something to eat and using the shower first. Will be easier to eat for sure without it on" she pointed up making her way to the kitchen. "Besides the spare bacon will be cold if left any longer"

Oassu grunted "I guess ain't seen any fire-breathing horses after all but isn't it awful dangerous having your backdoor right on the forest? Sounds like it'd be easier for assassins or enemies to creep through and be right at the palace that way" he said reckoning he would've used this route if he had ever planned a heist on the palace.
Gil nodded somewhat reluctantly leaving the costume and following Satoshi to the kitchen "Was just giving it a look over really the clones did a great job" he said petting Enkidu as he entered "Still you're right a quick bite to eat and a shower then a nice day of festivities" he said brightly.
Zadina giggled "I'll need to do a bit more learning at home before I can fully read Viera and Nu Mou language but sure it's expected of nobles to learn more about allied and other cultures out of respect. Only reason I wasn't made to learn Banganeese and Ancient Dragontongue is that the Gria and Bangaa hardly use those languages any more even in their own territories." he said.
Jeckhart nodded understandingly in response to Hebal's comment "It is in our nature to be filled with darkness and anger it's why my clan strives to fight it but yes it is likely your elders don't want you going out unprepared for the wide world" he paused wondering "Do they require your guardians be tested as good protectors before they are allowed to leave the village as well?" he asked curious.

Amane shook her head "Well no they don't becuase the fact they have been granted permission to become my guardians in the first place implies that they have already been accepted for the job which means leaving the forest. More pressure on the summoner when the last to get approval from everyone"
Hebal giggled listening to Zadina "You shouldn't have bothered really with viera language. Viera know most languages cause they arent used to anyone at all trying to learn the native language. Most of them learn Agralian because its the most common language in the world and then they learn languages based on whatever bunch live closest." she continued failing to notice an eyeroll from Alpha at Jeckharts response.

Corella raised her eyebrow surprised by Oassu's question "Well we're in a forest aren't we so we're always going to be surrounded by trees regardless of position. But the high walls lined with guards and the twenty odd outposts less than half a mile from the walls around the perimeter of the palace seem to do the job quite well"
Felina shrugged resisting the urge to jump over to the same horse as Oassu "Yeah the palace is secure and theres no way anyone could find the secret passages without the passwords. though horses can't breath fire or any form of magic. Even Gilgamesh probably has more potential than a horse"
Satoshi paused searching through the cupboards on the lookout for plates "Hope the clones wern't too bad with you. They got noisy and giggly last night and one of them kept spying on you while you slept" she admitted reaching out for what she wanted.

Oassu smirked making it a note to attempt to sneak in one time for fun and to test the defences "Well I'm sure it does a fine job, just seems odd having the palace essentially on the outskirts of the city like this" he said making a note of the outpost they passed "Does a unicorn or pegasus count as a magic horse though?" he asked
Gil smirked "Well so long as they had fun, was certainly an enjoyable view for me as I fell asleep anyway" he said frowning at the cupboards unfamiliar with the kitchen "Hmm what do you have to drink here if you don't mind me asking." he said leaning back on the counter.
Zadina nodded "It's considered courteous to learn other culture's languages but some forests I believe still use it still will I have to go and ask them if I can be your guardian?" he asked Amane uncertainly while Jeckhart moved towards the bathroom.

Amane noddedher head "Yeah you'll have to do that but... your a really talented mage and a really nice person. Anyone can see that so I see no reason for them to stop you. But you know... the elders only have a say on the guardians who follow you at the start of your journey. Summoners can pick their guardians after so worst case scenario we just met up outside the forest. Seems like a pointless official thing to me" she laughed.
Hebal paused scratching her head a second or two "Well I suppose... the male villages never leave their forests permanently unless its to interact with other viera so they probably arent the best of languages so might be useful to know viera. Might be useful too as they can have incredible tempers when they want to. Well anyway, shall we get ready. We do have two bathrooms afterall"

Felina shook her head "Horse, pegaus, centaur with ot without wings, and unicorns. All come under the same family but completely different species so they don't count. But who knows what they were thinking when the palace was built. Probably wanted to keep it as far away from the worst fiends but its also the thickest part of the forest behind it so easier to get disorientated" she guessed.
Corella nodded along pretending she knew about the winged centuars "Yep the easy way to tell is wings and horns usually equal magic if its a horselike creature so no magic ponies or donkies either. And I like the location of the palace just as it is"
Satoshi smiled slipping her apron on before slapping on the frying poan what was left of the more foreign food. "Well we have water, a little but of sake left over, milk and some fruit juice. All found in the fridge or the cupboard. Will have to fish around. Now would you like the plate warmed too? Must have been tired to sleep through them that or your naturally a heavy sleeper because in the end I had to get up and replace a few"

Oassu smirked "Well if they don't count then chocobo's have another advantage over horses then since some of them can fly easy enough" he said shivering slightly and drawing the coat tighter around himself "How much farther to outpost 3?" he grunted noting the faint lights of the torches at the other outpost, it was early and winter so it was naturally dark but with the trees so thick Oassu doubted much light would penetrate this area of the forest for most of the day.
Gil shook his head "No need to warm the plate but fruit juice would be niceand I'm actually a pretty light sleeper mostly, it's safer that way when you travel alone, need to learn to sleep with eyes open in case some behemoth decides to make a snack of you at night" he sighed kneeling down to give Enkidu a cuddle.
Zadina nodded "I'm sure but wouldn't want to offend them anyway but be nice Miss Hebal, not all boys are mean I'm sure there's plenty of friendly male Viera in those villages" he said happily having finished his eggs "Though yes lets get ready to go out then open the rest of the presents" he said.

Amane nodded having already skipped halfway over to their present pile already "Sounds like a good plan but I think presents should be opened first" she decided sorting out Zadina's gifts for him. Well those ones are all yours and theres at least one for me from your cousin" she gasped a little surprised to find her name.
Alpha nodded snickering at Amane's surprise "I think Seph might have left you something too but there may be others I don't know about so have a rummage around. Its nothing breakale if on that pile"
Hebal smiled sitting down next to Amane "Well I think thats a good idea also then we can get ready. Besides knowing what Satoshi is like, she'll probably have a real pretty outfit wrapped up for me somewhere to take a look at.Ooh and one for you too Amane and Zadina" she grinned knowing what was inside them.

Felina hesitated attempting to read the map "That is true but there aren't enough flying chocobos in the world even if you can afford to buy one though flight won't get you very far in a forest like this for the trees are too close together. Sorry your not liking the journey dear"
Corella paused stopping to ask the rider for more information "Well he says that if you were to allow them to go faster they could get us there in about 5 minutes if you think your up to it. Otherwise another ten" she translated for him. "I still think Outpost 1 would have been more ideal"
Satoshi smiled nudging the fridge door open while she reached for Gil's glass "I can be a pretty heavy sleeper when I want to. Ninja's are trained pretty hard to find a place to sleep undetected so don't have to worry about that so much but Hitomi can keep on ee on things while sleeping with her special jutsu. Maybe I should make you some camouflage next time" she joked.

Oassu shivered wrapping his arms around himself and tipping his beret down tighter "It's fine just go at the usual pace," he muttered thinking he'd probably fall off again seeing how he was barely able to stay in the saddle as it was "How's Cid liking the journey? Can't imagine this weather and transport sits well with him" he asked
Gil shook his head "I know to find secluded places to sleep just sometimes it's much better to have a fire next to you though Enkidu is pretty warm when he wants to be" he said watching as Enkidu shuffled out the kitchen embarrassed "He may act tough but he likes a cuddle and a pet as much as the next dog, still what trick does Hitomi use when sleeping?" he asked.
Zadina nodded following Amane over to the pile "It's probably because you were so charming when in the village that they wanted to get you something because they knew you'd be staying!" he said dropping to his knees by the pile spying out some from Gil as well before picking up the wrapped bundle Satoshi had left him and ripping it open to emerald green cape "Oooh this is nice, it'll go great with my new mage hat" he said
