I actually love my realistic fight mechanics, which is why I play so damn much Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution--but all fighting games are, in effect, extremely different, and offer different experiences. Yeah, Dead or Alive isn't a particularly good fighter, but I like seeing incredibly flashy moves from scantily-clad digital girls while punching people through walls.
Likewise, Super Smash Bros. Melee is not about a realistic "fight." It's about cartoon-style characters bashing the crap out of each other, and using the cartoon-like physics of their video world to blow each other clear off the goddamn screen. Besides, where else can you honestly get to decide which Mario brother's the better? xd

@Cael: Deity's character can control his speed as well...the more of his ki he charges up, the faster he moves, the stronger he becomes, the quicker he reacts, etc. But if he only wishes to heighten his power (which is also somewhat hindered) the weights will drag him down to a somewhat fathomable speed...
...without weights, he'd be insanely hard to even see at full power, much less fight, and his strength would be tremendous (we're talking earthquake-causing punches, here). The speed of sound is 720mph, by th'way....Deity hasn't calculated how fast his character is, but he does know how quickly he can do certain things...for instance, how quickly he can move around Earth once.

@Deity: Yeah, with Deity at full power I dunno if my current characters could scratch him either. Heh. It makes sense though, what with "Deity" in his name. At best my characters could become god-like of their particular element or ability. The characters I entered now are perhaps demi-god~ish, and that's mostly as a safeguard to certain characters I've seen which I won't mention...
@Mooo: Exactly! You don't play SSB for realistic mechanics, but you can't bash the game for not having them, either. It's aimed at the melee, the fray, pitting cartoon/video game style characters against each other. It does suck when people go around saying a perfectly good game like SSB sucks because it's not VF4. It's like the people who say FFVIII sucks because VII ruled. VIII in and of itself is a fine game.

The Fierce Deity @Trei: Th'biggest tip Deity can give for fighting him in this tourney is not t'use emotion-altering abilities, or for any reason make him hate your character....otherwise, you'll be al'right.

Hey, anyone wanna have a spar? Thats out of the bounds of the tournament. I haven't used my main character for almost a year, my first fight with him has been against shadow and I could REALLY use some brushing up and the like.

@Cael: xD Th'name is actually just an alias, and isn't supposed to represent Deity's character as some violent lord of destruction. It's just a name he picked when he was younger in order to hide his identity... . =;
