Nina knew she had another shot to attack the opponent that was the biggest threat to her Pokemon, and she chose to seize it. "Mimien, go after that Mawile with whatever your strongest attack is!" She felt a bit embarrassed for issuing such a command, but after all, she hadn't really had the time to explore the potential of Sabrina's Pokemon, save for in Gym battles. Much to Nina's surprise, however (and Raimundo's for that matter) the mime scuttled forward with his arm pulled back, before bringing his fist straight across Mawile's much smaller jaw, striking her with a hard-and-fast Brick Break attack. The Pokemon let out a terrible, surprised whine as she was knocked back down onto the ground, feeling her weakness to Fighting-type attacks being exploited. Her natural reaction, of course, was to retaliate. Lulu jumped to her feet, feeling a bit dizzy, and lunged forward towards the mime, clamping onto his leg with yet another Crunch attack. Mimien freaked out and started shaking his leg and smacking the smaller Pokemon to get her off of him, but it failed.
O-okay, that needs to stop, right now! the girl thought frantically. "Anastasia, get over there and help Mimien! Do what you need to do to get Mimien free, he's already hurt enough!" The gypsylike Pokemon nodded quickly and practically flew to her partner's aid-- she began to continually strike Lulu with Ice Punch attacks at the speed of a Doubleslap. However, this only seemed to be making matters worse, as she saw the Mawile clamping down harder. Anastasia wasn't going to give up yet though; she brought hands back to perform another Ice Punch attack, but--
"Kitters, Double-Edge! Get rid of that Jynx!" Whitney called, sending the Delcatty rushing forward. She scampered forward and slammed directly into Anastasia's stomach with such a force that both Pokemon toppled over and crashed to the ground as a result, and Kitters had hurt herself as well because of the attack's intensity-- so badly, in fact, that she had knocked herself unconscious. Her attack was not in vain, however. Anastasia knocked the back of her head on the ground when she fell, and while normally this would only cause her to become momentarily stunned, further pressure was added due to the fact that she was attacked. Both Pokemon were subsequently recalled and replaced a few moments later.
On Nina's side stood the golden-colored Pokemon that had helped her identify Maorde Menskr when she first dreamt of him. This was Sabrina's trademark Pokemon.
On Whitney's side stood her trademark Pokemon as well; she was pink with a tannish belly area around her udder, and had a small pair of white horns atop her head.

"Oracle, get that Mawile off of Mimien! Psychic!" "Tara, bring Mr. Mime down! Strength attack!" "Lulu, don't get hit! Move out of the way--"
But, it was too late. Lulu was ripped off of her target --again-- and was thrown up against the ceiling and down against the floor a few times. She was only conscious until the second impact, when she had finally been defeated, succumbing to the Alakazam's power.
Mimien, however, wasn't lucky enough to be knocked out immediately. He was tackled down onto the ground before being slugged alongside his face a good dozen times, before finally submitting to the Miltank's strength.
And after that, there were only two Pokemon left standing on the field-- Oracle and Tara. The two Pokemon stared eachother down while their trainers did the same.
"Well," Nina said, "I never thought it'd come to this, Whitney. Me... and you, battling eachother again?" "I know," the Gym Leader replied. "You're an excellent fighter, Nina, whether you realize it or not. You've been able to beat two of the three Pokemon that Rai and I were entitled to using, and all along you've been using someone else's Pokemon, whom you know so little about." It was interesting-- Whitney was very serious now, and she hadn't uttered a single 'like,' 'totally,' 'whatever,' or any synonym in several minutes. "I can't say that you're a bad fighter, either," Nina admitted. "I've underestimated you all along. I thought that just because I was able to beat you so long ago that you were some type of pushover, but... heh. I was wrong-- you're crafty." A nod. "So then... What do you say we stop holding back?" "Stop pulling our punches?" "Show eachother what we can truly do." "Let everything go as it should." "I'm ready, if you're ready." "You know that I'm ready. Let's go."
Both girls gave eachother a competitive grin.
"All right Tara! Oracle's got a weak defense-- exploit that! Strength attack, now!" Nodding, Whitney's Pokemon ran across the arena toward Oracle, ready to slam her fist into her opponent's stomach...

Rena glanced down at Kilik then stepped over him, glaring at Lairon. "Ludicolo! Use Ice Beam!" the girl called out, hearing her voice echo loudly. She crouched next to Kilik's body and rummaged in his pockets. Nothing. Remembering now where he placed them, Rena gently turned Kilik onto his stomach, careful not to hurt his arm. Unzipping his bag, Rena pulled the Great Balls that he had bought and kept them clutched in her hand, ready to toss.
Lairon's body quivered for a moment before he broke into another mad run towards Ludicolo, swerving around the gaping hole in the floor that lead to the waterfalls below. Rocks crumbled from the ceiling with each massive step the Pokemon took. Ludicolo opened his mouth, absorbing every bit of cold air that was in the cave, then concentrating it into one glowing blue orb. A chilling Ice Beam burst from it, connecting square to Lairon's face.
Lairon's Headbutt was useless - the Pokemon as sent flying back, a large chunk of his headplate frozen from the Ice Beam. He roared and stomped his front pair of feet to the rocks, crumbling another larger boulder. When he made an advance to Ludicolo, Rena tossed one of the three orbs. The Great Ball flew through the air and collided with the large chunk of ice connected to Lairon's face. Lairon was engulfed in the red light, then sucked into the ball. The sphere landed on the ground with a soft clink.
This is for Kilik... she thought, biting her lower lip and looking at him for a moment.

Train grinned. She knew Pikachu's electric attacks wouldn't work on Geodude, but with her new techinique-throwing rocks back a Geodude-, and Pikachu's strength, it should be a bit more effective than when Ratata had been out.
"Alright Pikachu, use thundershock to hit that rock right back at that floating head!" Train called. Pikachu shocked the rock so it would fly back a Geodude, charged with a little electricity, even if it didn't help much, or at all.

Kasiya's last comment made Keegan laugh out loud, until he spotted the look on her face and realized she was serious. "No, you're not dying. At least, not right now," he told her, turning the dull grey disc over in his hand several times. "It looked more serious than it actually was," he nodded, gesturing towards her side. "Just try not to push yourself too much and you'll heal up fine. It'll probably leave quite a scar though," he added. He was silent for a moment; the only sounds around them were the rustling of the wind in the trees and through the tall grass, and the occasional rippling of Mori's flames. The Ponyta was sound asleep, twitching lightly every now and then. Keegan smiled - the young fire pony was dreaming, and judging by her movements, she was running. He held up her Poke Ball and recalled her before he too stood up and looked around. "Let's get back to town then," he said, stretching. "There's a train station in Goldenrod, right? Maybe we can board a train there and head back to Saffron so you can meet your friend. Besides, I'd love to sit in on another one gym battle of yours, and this time I promise I'll even see it through to the end." Grinning, he leaned down and grabbed both backpacks from the ground, slinging one over each shoulder. Then he extended a hand to his friend, ready to help her up if she needed it.

"Attention, there is going to be a one on one battle in the arena. Any people who want to see it head over there immediatly it will start in ten minutes. That is all." Came an announcement from the PA system. When the girl at the counter finished it almost everyone stopped what they were doing and headed towards the wall that had slid open to reveal a large almost wrestling like arena.
Dante looked inside blinking in surprise as Leon pushed him through a different door. "Wow I never even thought that there was something like that back there."
Leon just smiled and pushed Dante down the hall way and a few flights of stairs. "Oh yeah, its fairly new. There were a few... mishaps before and so we finally decided to redo somethings. Even with all the money we make selling drinks and doing slots this is where the big money is made. Though you are fairly new and Roger isn't exactly the best trainer so no big bucks will be bet here."
"Ahhh..." Was all Dante could say before Leon pushed him out into the main part of the arena. Where the fighting ring usually was there was a pokemon arena instead. Blinking in the bright lights that were suddenly turned on Dante managed to make it over to his trainers box, by his side Kenny floated easily. It seemed like even though he was a ghost pokemon he really did seem to like the attention of the crowd that started to pour in.
Suddenly the girl at the counter wearing a pink almost leotard top with black nylons and card shark bands appeared in the ref's spot. " Hello everyone! Today we have a very special surprise for you. On the house side is our brand new employie Dante!" She pointed over to where Dante and Kenny were standing. Dante who was blinded by the light didn't even really know what was happening, Kenny twirled around some though. Pointing to the challangers side where the rat faced Roger stood she announced. "And on this side a returning challanger, Roger! Now lets get this started!" The crowd who had gathered started to chear wildly. "Both of you will send out your pokemon on your pokemon at the same time so to leave it all up to luck. When I reach three both of you send yours out!"
"One!"
Reaching for his belt, it was strange to not reach for his bag, Dante wrapped his fingers around what he hoped was Moeder's Safari ball, he really needed to do some training with her and this seemed like a good chance.
"Two!"
Across the arena Roger had a grin on his face as he fingered the Great Ball that rested between his fingers.
"Three!"
At the count Dante was about to toss out Moeder's ball when instead Shiva errupted from her Pokeball. It seemed like this was happening a lot lately.
Across the arena Roger released his pokemon, a fearsome looking Golem who roared upon being released.
"All right, Golem VS. Sealeo! Lets see how this turns out!" DANTE'S COINS 3/14,999

M.A. waved him off before quickly gettin' to business. She had no intention of missing more than ten or so minutes of Ky's battle, and hopefully, the two could wrap it up by then. Judging from the antagonistic glare Daemyn kept on the Phanpy and the extra-eager look in the little elephant's eyes, she figured they'd put in all their effort from the very beginning. Who knew, they might even tire themselves out before one knocked out the other.
Stepping outside with the two on either side of her, she found the area where Ky and her had battled yesterday. Dutifully, the Phanpy trotted across from her, swining her trunk energetically from side to side as if in warm-up. Daemyn just snorted and pawed at the dusty ground, ready to get it done and over with. He'd show this aggressive little Phanpy how a real battle was done, and who was most certainly better. The Long Nose Pokemon had cost him some dignity the other day.
The Houndour had the advantage in level, M.A. could figure, but that young Phanpy across from them had tremendous brute strengh and vigor for her size. There was great potential there.
"Ready, Daemyn?" The puppy turned his head back at his 'girl' and nodded, grunting.
The Phanpy charged into action that moment, not really giving Daemyn a chance to even turn out again. The Tackle connected into his side, sending him skidding back with a yelp. He immediately popped up to his feet again, flames burning in his eyes. 'I wasn't ready!' he growled resentfully, the wrath in his small frame beginning to build.
The Phanpy snorted, arrogantly flipping her trunk, dismissing him with a gleam in her small eyes.

Lifting his black head high, he Howled long and proud into the skies, letting his voice bring his spirit into focus, into a common goal. The anger he let loose no longer flared out wildly; it was concentrated in one direction, to one opponent (the Phanpy, of course). A dull glow reverberated from his body, showing that his Attack power had rised. When he looked down again, his eyes were furious and sharp, narrowly watching the Phanpy. The Phanpy simply continued to stand there, taunting him silently. At the same time, she sharped her sense of smell, taking note of the area and zoning in on Daemyn's scent. Odor Sleuth, however that would help.
M.A. blinked, surprised. Daemyn was growing; she could see it very well now. A smile crossed her lips. "Alright, Bite, Daemyn!" she called, thrusting forth her slender arm towards the Phanpy.
The puppy charged, his short legs pounding beneath him with the muscles he had acquired rippling under his dark, velvet-like fur. Ripping his jaws viciously open, he clamped them down upon the Phanpy's trunk.
The little elephant roared (or tried to) in pain, pounding her trunk up and down with desperate power. Daemyn, still attatched, went up and down as well, getting a few good thuds to the ground before managing to let go safely. Shakily, he backed off. What was up with this thing? She was smaller than him (although he had no way of knowing she was three times his weight), but could still thrash him around like that?
Man. . . she's strong, M.A. observed, watching the Phanpy rub its trunk with its foot woefully. Who could've known? The attack had definately done its damage, though, as the Phanpy looked rather pained.
Not about to send Daemyn again for another pounding, she issued a command for Ember. The flames lept easily into his mouth, collecting into an orb before blasting off towards the Phanpy.

The Phanpy skidded out of the way, dragging dust up as she did so. That kind of hustling was tiring, though, and she didn't have much time to recollect herself before Daemyn sent yet another fireball flying in her direction.
Direct hit. She couldn't avoid it. The flames licked at her before dispersing; after all, Ember wasn't a terribly powerful attack from the perspective of most. At this level, though, it was quite enough to deal another chunk of damage, as well as a stat inflictment. The Phanpy's body was singed in one or two odd spots, showing a painful burn.
Now, the Phanpy was rather riled up, but would not give up so long as her battle-hungry spirit kept up. It didn't matter how tired or battered she was, or how her opponent might have a higher level than she. She was thrilled to have this battle, a while-worthy opponent who didn't keep anything back. So, roaring a bit, she ran recklessly forward, sending her weight forward entirely in a full-out Take Down attack. . .
And missed. Daemyn smooth side-stepped it, avoiding it by a hair's breadth. She plunged into the ground hard, inflicting damage upon herself. Still, she got up wobbily, setting her heart and powerhouse self into yet another Take Down attack. This time, the Phanpy focused enough, setting both her sight and sense of smell upon the Houndour. She would not miss, could not, did not.
The pain seemed to explode through the puppy's small body; the attack had been brutally powerful and without any restraint. He practically flew a few feet, landing roughly and staying down for a moment to catch the breath that had been so swiftly knocked out of him. Jeez. With aching ribs and a pounding head, the puppy slowly lifted himself up, finally standing with a slight tremble.
The Phanpy did not fare much better. She had been charing at such momentum that the impact had hit her just as hard as when she had hit the ground. Besides that, she hadn't been able to stop soon enough, and slammed into an intruding rock. Oh, she didn't mind rashly charging like that, but it sure did hurt if one couldn't control it completely. . .

Seeing his opponant was a Golem Dante smiled somewhat. Sending Moeder out would have been a bad move, Shiva had just saved him a lot of trouble by coming out on her own. He didn't know what had gotten into her but he was sure glad she was here. The seal pokemon had a grin on her face and her white whiskers were twitching happily.
Across from the Roger gave a slight glare at Dante. "Fine, you may have the type advantige but that doesn't mean that you have won! Golem use your Defense Curl and then show them your Rollout!" The Golem roared and curling up into a ball he started to roll at Shiva.
"Oh! Tough words from Roger! Lets see if his Rollout attack works!"
"Blast him back with your Surf attack." Dante said with a grin. Liking the sound of that, and not liking the thought of being smashed into by a huge boulder. Her eyes glowing she opened her mouth and blasted large amount at the oncoming boulder. With no avialuable water source Shiva had to make it herself, which cut down its power immensly.
"An impressive Surf attack from the Sealeo even without a ready water source! Lets see if it will be enough to stop Rogers Golem from attacking!"
While it was impresive it wasn't enough and the Golem burst through the water blast. The Surf attack did do something though, it caused the Golem to vear off of its course and roll off to the side just barely missing Shiva. Frowning Dante wished that there was a nearby water source that would have been a much needed power boost.
"While a good idea it didn't seem to work! That Sealeo better look out Golem is coming back for another attack!" DANTE'S COINS 3/14,999

Ky opened the door to the Gym and stared inside, taking in the odd sight of the trees and plants lining the walls. As he walked towards the gym's arena, he took in a deep breath, taking in the various smells one could gather from a forest. Sting seemed to take a liking to the environment as he flew from plant to plant, probing them with his forearms to see if they were real. Little Guy continued to stare forward, his mind already set to battle. After walking in a bit more, Ky stopped, recalling how to properly address a Gym Leader. "Bugsy, I'm here to challenge you! My name is Ky and I come to represent my hometown of Violet City, being a proud graduate of its Pokemon Academy. I would like to thank you for your assistance in dealing with the Rockets yesterday and it would be an honor to battle you," Ky said, giving a slight bow.

“Victreebel! Get up!” Jaeshan urged, seeing the Clefable advancing on his Pokemon once more. Her last attack had been a critical hit, and the Flycatcher Pokemon was having a difficult time recovering from it.
“Pound it, Clefable!” Lisa commanded from her position on the battlefield, flipping her long, blue hair out of her eyes and grinning. It didn’t seem to matter which of them held the upper hand; either way she was enjoying the battle. The large, pink Fairy Pokemon tromped forward, rearing back and swinging downward. Her fist collided with the side of Victreebel’s head, and the Grass-type was sent crashing back down to the ground once more, hurting from the onslaught of attacks against him.
“Victreebel needs help,” Jaeshan murmured to himself, trying to think of a plan of action. His eyes lit up and he thrust his hand towards the Fairy as he issued his next command. “Giga Drain!” he shouted, remembering how well the attack had worked in the past. Since Victreebel’s other attacks had become much stronger since his evolution, Jaeshan could only assume that Giga Drain would be more powerful as well.
The Flycatcher let out a terrible screech, slashing the air around him with his long vine. It snaked out, wrapping itself around the pink Pokemon’s plushy body a few times before he began to reel her in like a fish caught on a hook. It wasn’t met without opposition, however, as Lisa’s Clefable proved to be a lot tougher than her appearance would let on. She fought back, digging in her heels and refusing to be pulled anywhere, and it would have worked had Victreebel not had a backup plan. The leaf on his head lifted up and a sickeningly sweet aroma floated up, the cotton candy-pink spores settling all around both Pokemon. Clefable’s eyes glazed over and she suddenly felt less eager to fight back, her struggles to free herself from Victreebel’s hold lessening with each passing second. Now that he had a chance, he emitted another horrible, ear-splitting scream, snapping Clefable out of the little daze she was in. Just like the first time he’d used the attack, hundreds of tiny spines sprouted along the length of his vine, most of which dug into the Clefable’s soft body. Crying out in a mixture of surprise and distress, the Fairy’s body began to glow with a green aura. The energy seemed to flow into Victreebel’s thorny appendage, his whole body starting to shimmer from top to bottom with the same aura as he sapped Clefable of her stamina. He felt the Fairy fall limp in his grasp, and he retracted the tiny thorns and loosened his grip, letting the Fairy down gently onto the ground as not to cause her any more harm.

Bugsy was having a quiet moment to himself when the challenger appeared. Rocking back and forth in his hammock, the young boy lifted his head at the soft and respectful voice speaking at him. "Ah, you," Bugsy said, quickly dismounting the swing and standing upright. "such manners, even towards one younger than you. I'm impressed."
It's nice to see some respect from the challengers. Bugsy thought, thinking back to all the rude people he reluctantly handed badges to. Pushing that out of his mind, he looked over and saw his opponent's Beedrill. "I like your taste in Pokemon. " The Gym Leader said with a smile as he returned the bow. The Natu would pose a problem with its Flying attacks, but the dual Psychic type made it more susceptible to Bug moves. This should be a good one.
"Two on two sound like a plan?" He said, already reaching for his Buterfree's Pokeball.

As Mike was redressing, he heard his PokeNav vibrate atop his backpack. "I wonder who that is." He trailed off, slipping his arm through the right hand sleeve of his flame jacket. He knelt down, flipping it open. "Kassie?" Odd, wasn't she only a few minutes walk away? Confused, Mike read the message with disappointment. Aw man, this sucks. He kinda missed the luxury of company since Flannery had left and gone back home, and could have used a little more time catching up with Keegan. "Guess I was just a third wheel." Mike said sullenly, throwing his pack over his shoulders.
"No use sitting around and complaining," he said with his chin up. "you should be happy that Keegan and Kassie are happy...yeah!" He smiled, knowing that his friend definitely needed a girlfriend. He stopped the thought, reminding himself he was in a similar position no less then a few days ago. Without another hesitation, he sent out Nitro, asking his Pokemon to take flight once more. "It's just below Lavaridge, above Slateport, to the left of Mauville and right of Rustboro." He showed the Charizard the map of Hoenn. "We went there before, remember?"
A light bulb went off in Nitro's head as he recalled the small town. He scrunched his face, remembering the air was too clean, not like back home. As Mike quickly climbed on, the Flame Pokemon lifted them into the sky with one flap of his powerful wings. Once in the air he pointed northeast, and began his flight. Nitro sniffed the air and smiled, the scent of Mt. Chimney lingered even in Johto.

As the Great Ball landed on the ground, it rockd back and forth. While frozen, it still had some fight left in it. After three rumbles, Lairon exploded from the confinement, not ready to be caught quite yet.
