Lance pouted a little, "Too bad. but we shall exchange the phone numbers of course, so we may speak together. perhaps I will be able to swade you when you are working steadily."

Daren shook his head a little, "pompous a**." but he said it with all the affection in the world. "i think i'll have the special, it looks good. your recipe, Lance?"

Lance nodded, "of course. everything on the menu is of my own make. you won't find these dishes anywhere else. I believe i will be trying the chef's choice. it's good to try out my workers, don't you think, dearest Tim?"

Lance glanced at their list of burgers. "the mushroom and swiss is good, but you can get a burger anywhere. try one of the pastas, they are delicious! or the en flambe chicken with lemon sauce, a favorite of mine."

Daren sighed, "Lance, let him eat what he wants to eat. just because you're a snob about burgers." he shook his head, "it took them months to convince him to have burgers on the menu. he doesn't care for them."

"an american idea that is so simple a baby could do it! no, i'd rather have my meat in a proper dish, thank you." Lance sniffed a little, "but if you wish a burger, they are the best you shall ever taste."

Lance signaled the waitor and they made their orders before he answered. "A little bit of both. i inherited the building, but made it into a restaurant. Daren sponsored me, so i was able to redecorate how I liked and we've been booming ever since."

Daren shrugged, "you're an excellent cook. when you refused to be my personal chef I had to come up with some scheme to be able to eat your food whenever I wanted."

Lance's eyebrow twitched, "yes, by ordering out. you never come in to eat."

Daren shrugged, "dress standard's too high."

LAnce sighed dramatically and looked at Tim, "how do you live with him? you seem the type most comfortable in a suit, but look at him! he looks like a wolf in sheep's clothing!"

Daren grinned and growled playfully, "careful or i just might eat you boys up."

Lance batted his eyelashes, "promises, promises."

Lance sighed, "So, Tim, you said you want to start working again? what is it that you do?" he looked Tim over closely and guessed something to do with an office. Daren looked like a man meant to use his body when he worked, but Tim? Tim was delicate. "perhaps a suit model. you certainly would be good at it."

"He's lying. he did a gig, once. I saw the pictures, he's very photogenic," Daren said, grinning as he watched.

Lance nodded, "Next time I run a campaign for the restaurant, will you be our model? i pay generously, and you can have a table whenever you want at a moment's notice."

Daren let out a low whistle as their food was delivered and their drinks refilled, "that's a generous offer. you should take him up on that. i bet the revenues would go up with you on the ads."

"Deal!" Lance agreed happily, not worried in the least about Tim enjoying the food or not. he looked at his duck ah la orange and began to pick it apart, looking for every time little mistake he could, and not finding many. "good, very good." he took a bite and was able to just enjoy the meal instead of picking it apart. "how is the burger?"

Daren looked at his thick steak al la carte and carefully took a bite, his eyes closing as the juices burst out onto his tongue. "don't know about the burger, but this is amazing."

Lance grinned, "I always win when it comes to food. i'll give you my number as well, we can text about this grump." he nodded to Daren who was contentedly eating his steak. "You should come often! I will give you a discount and have a table waiting. maybe you can drag him along now he's got a decent suit."

Daren rolled his eyes as he took a sip of water, "i might be against you exchanging phone numbers. the thought of two of you conspiring against me is terrifying,"

Daren solumly put down his fork and knife and folded his hands in front of him. "Dear Lord," he pleased looking up to the ceiling, "forgive me my wrongdoings and protect me from these two. Erasing their memories of meeting each other would also be appreciated. Your occasionally devote son, Daren."

Lance started to laugh, "what kind of prayer is that? it was more of a letter!"

Daren shrugged, "never been much of a religious type. it's good enough for me."
