And wow. Need I proclaim my love for heavy weapon teams/basilisks? gonk heart I outrange Tau with a lot more hurt haha twisted

There is an easy solution to your little combo: Stealthsuits
Unless you notice your basilisks are being shot to pieces and use that annoying little infiltration revealing thingy, but since its AoE I can just jetpack a few feet away and keep firing :3

I never got the hang of stealth suits because the computer always found them

psh infiltrated units aren't that tough to find and sure be my guest and fill up all your population with stealth suits rolleyes imps are defensive...one nicely placed turret behind the troops will detect everything and i'll shred you with my basilisks and heavy weapons. get close and my imps will eat you alive

The whole pop? I only need one, why would I need that many? Like I tell my little bro (hes not very good at this game ;-_-) its not about how many units of one type you have, its how you use them effectively. Yeah but are you just going to stare at your basilisks the whole round and ignore the rest of the map? Plus you have limited sight range so you cant hit me with your artillary unless you can see me. Psh turrets? Please, all I need is a pathfinder and some Skyrays, those things dont stand a chance, they cant even hit my frickin units because of their short range rofl . Your puny guardsmen are no match for my firewarrior/pathfinder/battlesuit combo, Pathfinders spot your guardsmen before they can even get close, firewarrios shoot them up from their superior firing range and battlesuits to deal with any grenade launchers or anyone that tries to get to close and if your lucky I wont have my skyrays with me to knock your units off their feet.

pathfinders are useless in my opinion, how are you going to spot turrets without getting them killed?

Yup, their line of sight is fethin' huge. Im not sure what your doing wrong, when I use them the turrets never shoot them because their not in range.

hey, that word "fething" is that a curse word they made up in the 40k books? or is it some european thing? cause I've never heard anyone use it here in New York.

"Feth" is a 40K curse word, because despite having a gruesome and morbid dystopia, they decided that curse words from our language would't fit, so they needed new ones that sounded fancier, despite the rest of the language being English... I don't like it when they try to do that in science fiction. At least in Starcraft they cursed like sailors.

Also, as for your mighty Tau, I have one word: Baneblade. Baneblade > everything else. Actually, the Kasrkins do in the Tau pretty well with their longer range and heavy firepower. Anything they train their guns on go down pretty quick. Supported by heavy weapons teams (which have a longer range than the Tau) and Basalisks (which should be hotkeyed for easy access) firing down Hell, things tend to die pretty fast. Also, stealth units are useless against Imperial Gaurd, as they've got their fancy Radar station, and unless I was a complete idiot, I wouldn't leave my artillery unguarded and not notice the whole "Your units are under attack!" thing it'd spam at me.

I didnt see that path finders had that big of a range, huh, must not be paying attention or something...
and Xenos does have an excellent point, its an idiot who just leaves his artillery out in the middle of open space where they can be ambushed. Although skyrays do provide some nice support, earthshakers and plain basilisk fire can demolish entire armies.

Basilisks dont need to see you to hit with their earthshaker round. And its hardly ignoring everything else considering they can hit everything miles around. Vindicare assassin...his line of sight is huge he takes a forward position and I see all. Try to get near him and you'll be chewed apart by heavy weapon teams and guardsmen. You won't even get near my turret
PostPosted: Sun Nov 19, 2006 10:20 am

Yeah I use that alot too, the vindicare assassin is one of my favorite units, and after I get some sight on the enemy I bombard anyone into submission.

Actually, the Baneblade dies quite quickly to a couple of Hammerheads. Throw in some Skyray backup and the IG's big bad tank is down in less than half a minute. I haven't seen a whole lot that IG can do against a Tau armored column. I suppose mass, entrenched Heavy Weapons teams might do something, but all it takes is a missile barrage or two, and they're done.
