Violet jumped when the bear spoke and she scrambled to grab his shoulder and pull it in the right direction, quickly.

"ARGGH!!!" Mit screamed, in pain. The joint popped almost sickeningly as it snapped back into the socket. Mit went face down, pressing his face into the ground as he screamed again. He moaned and groaned, holding his shoulder.
The bear snorted, "Very good, young lady."
Ambersky shook his head, "Let's head back..."

"Young Lady," The bear said, "Would you mind scratching my ears, now that you are finished with that... It's rare I am in this form and no one ever scratches me when I'm in my regular form..."
"You're an a**..." Mit said to the bear.
"And you're a pansy.... Now that we've thrown rude names around," The bear flicked an ear and turned his attention to Violet again, "Young Lady, if you'd be so kind?"
Ambersky sighed, walking with Tora, "As soon as we get out of the forest, we'll be outside of the valley's surveillance... And when we get on the plains the only thing we'll have to worry about is being watched, not listened to..."

Violet reached up and scratched Tree's ears. She looked around for Tora and Ambersky.

Bits of dirt and dead leaves fell from the places she scratched, but Tree just leaned into her hand, making happy grunting noises.
Mit eventually sat up to lean against the wall she'd made. He still held his shoulder, but he took the time to wipe off the dirt he'd pressed his face into.
Ambersky and Tora eventually made it back to where they'd left the others. Ambersky waved an arm, like he might spread his wings in greeting when he was in animal form, "Hey! We're back."

Tora was glad to see them. He walked over and sat next to Violet again.

Mit looked over at Ambersky, waiting for him to answer her question.
The bear turned his head to look at Ambersky as well, "Familiar... I've lost my respect for you... What kind of a creature gives up his fur and claws for the weak body of a human?"
"It was only supposed to be for a while!" Ambersky squawked at him, "And don't start with me, you're the wood spirit in the form of a bear."
"Yes but I'm not a human." The bear snorted
Ambersky gave him a glare and sat down on a fallen log, "We had to let the attacker go...."

Ambersky sighed and folded his feet under him, "Because if I had harmed her... Vidar would be required to kill Mit." He wouldn't look at either of them, "The attacker was Vidar's elfin wife... Lennox's mother... As such she's protected by elfin laws... No being can raise a hand against her."
Mit gritted his teeth, "She finally moved against me... That's a first..."

"I know," Ambersky said staring at the ground.
"The law is in place to protect the women of the fae... There are fewer of them, then of the male. Zennox's mother is still young enough to have another child, or two. If she can do that, and either of them is a girl, she will have contributed to our people." Mit said, "By law she is protected from harm, being both a woman, and the Green Lord's wife."
