Oh, yeah. That is just the base model, your armour is issued to you and if you make one successful (by which I don't just mean you live, the objective has to be completed) combat drop/mission with it, after that you can take it to an artificer to get it customized. I've been working on the customized model, but as they have to have a personal touch they take longer.
Edit:
Also, couldn't a small boarding party infiltrate an enemy ship in pressurized armour suits and blow holes in walls as to expose key sections of the ship to the vacuum of space?

Well then, That solves the problems with it.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Also, the Liam would be relatively new, and while it would be issued to most active pilots and light infantry only a few will have a combat drop in.

for the boarding party concept, it would probably be a bit more practical, and safe, to use a shamshir bomber to punch a whole in the frame, that is what I designed them for anyway.

Well, yeah, I haven't gone through all the tech...probably should go do that.

Previously to this, we really didn't have any vacuum-capable suits in BHotR, aside from EVA and Environment suits for maintainance and such. this suit and the Impulse I just put up for review would be the first of their kind, really.

The thing with these suits is, they are so small that capships can't detect them, or at least will ignore them during battle. The thruster pack on the Terran suit allows it to power itself accross the battlefield (albiet slowly as hell) while this is a dangerous prospect, fighters (the biggest real danger) could sense tham and avoid them or try attacking them(difficult considering how small the armor would be) Space capable Powered armor adds a whole new dimension to battle.

Not to mention, a Powered Armor boarding a ship would be devastating against mostly unarmored foes (I say mostly because Technically drathonians are armored)

Aha! My idea did have some merit. Also, the Terran suit is the only one with boosters (as they have slightly higher tech and can fit more into a suit, though if allowed I would like to make the Altresian suits a bit more durable than their Terran counterparts) So, only the Terran badboy marines get to do these operations. Since I doubt we have protocol for this maybe we can enact this next ship battle? I personally suggest that if this tactic was to be used that small groups of 2 or 3 hit multiple areas on the ship, preferably the sides and under belly.

Exactly. It would be extremely dangerous for the Terran suits, but the whole Powered armor aspect would add an entirely new dimension to battle, which the Drathonians will be hard pressed to pick up (their cultural pride and technology level being major factors against the making of such an advance)

In any case, it would make the Marines more useful during space campaigns. We'd need to have the Marine PC's get re-trained.

And along with learning how to operate the suits all us sloggers would have to be taught the basics of demolitions by one of our resident demolitions experts. Also, is it possible for the suits to return to the Hymn of their own power or do we have to wait for pick up?

The Impulse Suits have Theoretically unlimited range. the Liam suits would probably need to be pickued up/dropped off, unless we attached some sort of disposable boosters.

The Liam I believe is going to be too light of a suit of armour, its mainly pressurized for hostile environments. It could survive in space, but if the exposed undersuit was ripped it would be game over. Most likely one of the heavy infantry suits would have to be used. Also it may be possible to modify Terran suits so Altresians can wear them and vice-versa. Also, technically I could design a system of extra stiff plates, such as the one that can be attached to protect the lower mouth and upper chest, to make the suit more useful in space. Actually, I prefer that idea, though the heavier suits do come next after the Liam is finished.

Edit:
For the Disposal jump pack we could use some kind of booster addition to the suit's backpack, also the a heavier/extra battery could be added on with the boosters.

That sounds good. We could make that work. I like the bigger booster idea to maybe get the Impulse moving at a Higher fraction of c, so it doesn't seem like such a crawl over to the enemies.

I think you should hop onto IRC if you have the time, and chat it up if you don't have/don't want to download a client just use Sorcery.net's Chatnow Function, type in a Nick and #bhotr, so we can discuss this more eficiently.

That IRC chat was fun and we got things done a lot faster. We should all find time to do that again.

You guys are going to hate me for asking, but what's IRC? sweatdrop

And SeFlaurinds have their own native language still intact despite years of mingling and chatting with other space-fairing neighbors, right?

IRC, or Internet Relay Chat, is a specific type of Instant messaging chatroom service that allows instant communications between large groups of people, offering a wide variety of features that many other Chat programs lack.

The Seflaurinds do have a native language, Which would be a very flowing sounding language, with as few hard consonants as possible, somewhat similar to what most people Imagine when they think elvish, but not quite. They also speak English or what should be called 'common' or 'trade' or maybe 'terran' or something like that.
