Yeah, there's a statewide smoking ban going into effect. Not a total ban, just inside public buildings...
Still not sure if it's a good thing or not.

Reiku looked baffled. "Wow. Really?" she asked, somewhat rhetorically. "It's not really a problem for me since I don't smoke and I don't plan on starting, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal to me. It could be good for one's health." said Reiku, shrugging.

I'm all for not smoking, but if I don't want to sit in smoke, then I'll just not go to a place with smoking...
But hey, now my options are wide open!

You can't smoke in public buildings here, and I'm so happy about it. I don't remember people ever smoking in any public buildings except restaurants and bars, but that's banned as well, and it's great.

"Yeah, really wide." agreed Reiku, wondering what her state's laws on smoking were.

My boyfriend smokes (although he's mostly quit, now), and I know it's been an incentive for him to quit, because he can't smoke anywhere. xd Not in the apartment, not at work (not on the property at all, not even outside), and he hates how it makes his car smell, so...
He's pretty limited in locations.

It's banned in Arizona too. I don't really care though, or even say that I noticed a difference between my experiences.
I like my brother's idea, personally. That is to sell 'tobacco' lisenses in the same manner as liquor licenses.

Our liquor is sold mostly in liquor stores. You can also get it in licensed dining establishments and bars, of course, but grocery stores and convenience stores do not sell booze. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not.
Having something similar for cigarettes might be nice, though.

sorry, was switching rooms...
Not really for the sale of cigarettes, but to sell licenses to allow smoking.
