She quickly realized that her whimper had upset him in some form and she glanced up at him to see that not only had he yanked his hand back as though she'd scalded him but he wasn't looking at her either. "Because I adore them and I'd like him to have his own to ride. It's nicer to have a relationship in which they grow up together." She reached up and caught his jaw, forcing him to look at her. In a soft, almost inaudible voice she whispered, "Are you afraid of me?"
Zykariel giggled at her sodden appearance and then shrugged though his smile never wavered. "Wet is the thing to be right now, don'tcha know?" He stood up and stepped over closer to the bank before plopping back down and making waves in the water. "Can we go a little deeper now that you're in with us?"

"I suppose...but a horse is a lot of work...and he probably wants something he can have in the house. And horses simply do not belong in the house, in the bed, at the tabke, or generally inside." Though he blinked and watched her own eyes with his for a moment as she more or less forced him to look at her. Well...there was a question now wasn't there? He swallowed as he considered his answer. "Sometimes I am...and sometimes perhaps it is myself that I am afraid of when I am with you." Damn that honesty her eyes beckoned from him.
He gave a giggle at his friend's words and got himself up. A nod and then he gave a little jump and clapped his hands. What a wonderful suggestion by his friend! "Please?! Please mommy can we?!" Because swimming was no fun in the shallows.
Piper sighed and merely sat there in the water casually. She watched the two boys and then shook her head lightly giving a sigh and tucking her hair behind her ears, running her hand over the edge of her halved one. "Sure, you two can go a little deeper." After all, she was there.

"I'm talking about a horse in addition to or separate from the pet you were considering letting him have. And I would be the one taking care of it for the most part since that's what I do." She loosened her grip on his chin and moved her hand to rest against his cheek instead. "Sometimes..." A shake of her head, she knew what he was talking about. Many times she wondered if she was becoming too trusting when she was with him and sometimes she feared the puddle that he could easily turn her into without hardly any effort on his part. "I'll never use who you become against you. And for the record, you really aren't that much different than you are in mixed company. A bit more laid-back and relaxed but that's about it." He was softer in her opinion but she knew he might take that wrong so susbstitution was necessary. "You become the same when you're around Kariel."
Zykariel heard the first syllable of 'sure', assumed it to be a positive answer and disregarding anything else that came after that, raced for the deeper part where he then dove under the water and started swimming quite happily. He never stuck around for warnings and it had gotten him into quite a bit of trouble before.

Malik gave a shake of his head.
"I want him to feel like he can win. so far everyone pitted against him has either not been after him for blood, or has been far superior in skill. But your words do ring true, druid. then lets not go forward with that plan. How about you keep an eye on him though. if you feel he might be someone you can test against without too much one sidedness, feel free."
then back to Kieran.
"So. Anything you'd be interested in doing?"
Onyx growled lightly.
"Let her go, or I'll make sure your wings are on display in my den."
Flashing claws.
"And I am not all fur. I'm quite muscular, thank you very much."
And a reach out with devil's power...trying to mend Aella's flesh without touching her or pushing energy through his hands. hadn't tried it before, might as well see if he could.

"If he's going to have a horse then he needs oto take care of it, not you." Trying to keep his mind on at least the comfortable side of the subject, but that was really really hard and his mind went back to the uncomfortable suject at hand. "That's not what I mean." Mixed company was different, and when Zykariel around it was not the same as she said. No when she was with her, it was scary. Not because of negatives, but more because of positives. But Sevilin merely shook his head...he didn't like chasing these subjects willingly. So back to the pet thing. "I don't think he could handle two pets."
And he was off after his friend as well, jumping a little as he hit deeper water to sink under and then swim around like a fish for a moment before kicking his way back up. Mommy had insisted that he learned to swim and he was glad she had taught him. Though she swam stalked his way over to Zykariel before jumping him. "Sea dragon attack!"
Piper shook her head lightly, getting up and wadding into the water a bit more to stay closer to them. After all...something could always go wrong. But a chuckle at them both. "Boys, I said be careful."
"Careful Malik, the more eyes you have on him the more defensive he may become to you." Giving his attention back to Malik as Malik had given his to Kieran. A little shrug on his part though. "Whatever you may think will strike my fancy I suppose. My brain doesn't do too much thinking of it's own right now." Kieran gave a chuckle at that and then got that concerned look as if he remembered something that didn't please him. "I have been meaning to ask though...is Piper alright? She feels...off." Ah bond senses.

"He will take care of it. But I'll be there to teach him and help him since a horse is a big responsibility. And if he doesn't take care of it, I could always sell it off for a tidy profit." She knew the steel situation often was less than glamorous. Unlike the D'Vinns, they didn't have a giant vault full of priceless items and steel as well as other planes currencies. But she wasn't quite finished with the other subject yet. So she asked him point blank. "Why did you pull away from me a few moments ago?"
"The ship is sinking! The ship is sinking!" He gurgled water for a moment as he slowly went down under the water, holding the position for a moment and then popped back up. "Another ship bites the dust..." he said solemnly before bursting into giggles and then leaping upon his friend in return. "What eats sea dragons? I dont' think anything does..."

Well...he couldn't avoid that question at all now could he. So he dropped his eyes from hers again and considered his answer a moment. This was not a subject he wished to discuss, but it always seemed that he got to a point that was closer and closer to not being able to avoid it. "Because...I know what I do to you, and know that you like it." And the he liked it too, but he wasn't saying that right now. "And know what can come of it."
He failed under his friend's wait a moment. "Um...mommy?"
"Bigger sea dragons."
"Bigger sea dragons!" Thus going about slipping underwater and thus from under his friend, popping back up and then pouncing his friend once more. "Battle of the sea dragons!"

And he was averting his eyes again. She dropped her hand from his cheek and sighed. This was hard. But she listened and thought about her own experiences before she answered. "This is a bad thing? It's not like it's unwilling on either of our sides. That makes it infinitely different for both of us...or at least it does for me..." She had to raise an eyebrow at his last part and then leaned back against the bed, more or less pulling away from him. "You don't have to have sex with me you know." She reached for the sheet and pulled it back up to cover herself up. "I'm not going to get mad at you for saying no."
A glance at Piper and then a grin when the answer was provided. "Bigger sea dragon attack!" And thus it went to squirming and fighting and playing around in the much deeper water. He reached up to his friend's head. "Watch your nose!" before shoving him under...because nobody liked water up their nose. That just wasn't fun and ruined play.

He frowned. Good going Sevilin, you were enjoying that and you ruined it. He knew he was ruining it purposefully...somewhere in his mind he knew he was doing it. He wouldn't allow himself to just enjoy any of it. Why couldn't he just lock his past all behind him. "I know that...and I know other things. I know I sabatoge myself when this happens between us. Do you think I like doing it? I hate myself for thinking these things but it's all my mind does to torture me so I keep you away...whether I want to or not." He shook his head. "I hate enjoying it and then feeling guilty for doing so afterward. I hate knowing if I wanted I could control you with a mere touch and you wonder why I am afraid of it? I hate treating you or regarding you as I would regard them." Of coruse she knew who them was.
Another frown and he shook his head, sitting himself up and leaning over, and seeking to untangle his pants from the pile of clothes on the floor. He didn't want to do this...hell he was practically baring his pathetic little soul at the moment and gods knew how she was going to take that. Yup Sevilin you had gotten very good at sabatoging yourself now hadn't you. Good job...
Malikhai pinched his nose and took a breath before his friend dunked him underwater, where he merely let go of when he was under and then took to tickling his friend's exposed tummy in retaliation before he had to come back up for air and did so with a dragon like roar on his part, launching at his friend with a wave and a splash.

She watched him and realized his actions were because she had pulled away. But she'd been hurt, after all she enjoyed sex with him and had assumed he enjoyed it as well. Watching him as he went about trying to escape she placed a hand on his arm and then easily slipped her whole body into his lap so she was sitting sideways across him. "Sevilin, stop." She reached out and pulled his pants from him dropping them to the floor. She took his cheeks in her hands and shook her head. "You can't help the way your thoughts move, Sevilin and you can't help that certain aspects are still the same as much as you'd like them to be different. It takes time to reverse your way of thinking." She searched frantically for a way to make things alright, searched for something she could say or do that would tell him that it was okay. Taking his hand, she placed it on her breast and let flesh swell even as wel as the involuntary shudder that went through her body, so he could see his affect on her. "The thought of you touching me doesn't send terror down my spine. When I hear your footsteps I don't mentally shut down. When I feel you beside me, I don't get upset or scared. You taught me that not all males hurt. You taught me that I don't have to fear the responses that you elicit, Sevilin. Because even though you can melt me into a puddle at your feet with only a touch, I can do the same to you." She gently touched his ear. "and I know with every touch you are giving, not controlling and that makes it okay. You would never try to use the power I give you to control me. We share it with each other and that's something our kind doesn't usually do which makes it all the more special between us." She had one more example to give. "Lifting his hand, she gently placed it on her throat and merely watched him, keeping her body relaxed and calm.
Zykariel giggled and flailed in the water for a few moments before he fell back in the water and went under himself. Diving down deeper, he grabbed his friend's foot and pulled before popping to the top of the surface himself.

A slight grin to Kieran.
"well...Piper got thrown from a horse she was training. Zahara diagnosed it as a mild concussion, so wanted her to take it easy. however, she's had me on forced vacation, so she doesn't want to 'take it easy'. It's been a point of contention for a bit now."
Though a drink from his glass.
"Could possibly go to the library if you wanted. Got a score of books on various subjects you may or may not have digested yet."

He was stopped as she interposed herself into his lap and took his pants from him. Well...he could just shove her off and go about what he was doing, which was leaving in a huff to go beat himself up some more. But then she placed her hands on his face and he gave her his attention for a second. "Don't justify how I sabatoge myself I-" Cut mid sentence as he felt something familiar and pleasing under his hand as well as felt the shudder through her body. His first reaction was to pull his hand away, but seeing as she had hold of his hand. Okay, she had his atttention now.
His ears twitched at her voice as if wanting him to listen tenatively to what she had to say. Though his eyes did slow halfway closed and his breath hitched a moment at that feeling of her fingers brushing over his ear. Damn those ears...he knew they were sensitive to elves but come on, he almost fell over and died everytime they got touched. But they twiched again as she continued. Then she moved his hand to her throat and he knew what she was thinking...or at least thought he knew. He could wrap his hand around that little throat of hers and squeeze the life out of her if he wanted...he had the power to do so. For a long moment he watched before brushing his thumb lightly against her throat and letting his hand slide down to trace along her collar bone before it rested on her shoulder.
"You show and speak to teach and I don't listen..." Turning his eyes from her again to perhaps keep what they were showing from her. After all, he would think that he would a realized and learned things, but he knew he was blocking himself from seeing it all, because his mind sought to protect itself. "I don't like how I can turn something that feels right into something against myself. But how can you trust that I won't end up doing what you think I won't?" He didn't trust himself sometimes...and he didn't want to hurt her.
Kieran nodded, making that noise that concerned father's made when they were analyzing something. "I see. Easy to understand then why she doesn't feel all the way on course." A slight smile and a chuckle though. "And she's always been on you about working yourself too hard, we al know that." Well good to know what was wrong now.
"I suppose I could, there's always something new around here to occupy myself with." Giving a little chuckle and turning his look to an Isle who was half slid down in her chair. "But first I think I'll take care of a certain someone, least her father hands me my head for not doing anything and delivering a foul report to him when I get back." Finishing off what was in his glass before getting up and walking over to Isle, helping her up and putting and arm around her for support. "If you need to see me, just give me a call. Come on you, you need to lay down."
"Aw, you're just doing what daddy would yell at you for if you didn't." A little wave to Malik.
And back under the water for him, but he returned the gesture when he sunk down enough, both boys popping up a moment later and then Malikhai gave Zykariel a playful shove. "Escape!" Taking to swimming away from his friend to put some distance between them.

She was trying to show him something, trying to worm her way into his mind and turn off the negative tap that seemed to always be running when it came to him. Sometimes she just wanted to shake him because he really couldn't see. She had to attempt to keep her mind on track and control her body because being near him jumpstarted her system in the most elemental of ways. But when he started to speak she felt the bitter taste of failure. He still wasn't getting it and she was out of ways to show it to him. She refused to let her disappointment show even as it steadily replaced the triumph she'd been feeling when he refused to choke her. His words caused the uncertainties in her mind to flare and she swallowed for a moment thinking on it. In her mind she saw a pristine flower, freshly opened and drinking hte morning dew. (God love Andal for providing mental pictures.) Then she watched as an ebony hand reached out and took that flower in his palm then tightened his fingers into a fist, crushing the delicate bloom. He could do that without even trying. He could snap her in half and throw her to the mercy of the Underdark if he wanted to. A chill went down her spine. "I trust you Sevilin. There's no way to really explain how I know, I just do. I know that you would never hurt me and I know that given the opportunity you would rather hurt yourself than hurt me. You and I have both come a long way, Sevilin. When we first me we were constantly at each other's throats and pain was inflicted equally on both of us. We've changed. The way we react to each other, the way we think of each other...we have a son together..." She shook her head. "You and I are not the same elves we were three or even four years ago. We changed direction, took a different path and I think made changes for the better. Can't you see how far you've come? You do'nt flinch when I touch you, you don't automatically get defensive when I ask questions...you are a changed elf. And that I can trust. I trust you." She paused for a moment and then stroked his cheek. "How do you know I won't try to corrupt Zykariel? You trust me to watch him, isn't it the same thing?" She knew how much Zykariel meant to him.
"Oh no you don't!" he giggled and swam right after him, alternating between diving under and popping back up before he caught up to him and began another splash fight, this one while treading water.
Lark settled into the seat he'd vacated, gave a nod to Malik and wen tback to her journal, alternately taking bites from the plate Daddy Kieran had left.

Malik sat at the table, drinking his wine and thinking about what to do with arthur. he needed him to be lightyears beyond his present state of mind and skill. he needed an elf on whom he could rely to do things that needed done, be it bloodshed or otherwise.
"tel me something. Do you think I push too hard on Arthur in these things?"
After all, children were often quite perceptive and didn't hide thier opinions.

Her quiet only seemed to confirm what he thought. Was he really sabatoging himself or was it really a mechanism of protection. He was afraid of the possibilities. Though then his ears twitched as her voice came to them again with rather positive words. After all, she was right...four years ago he was quick to flinch and pull away, quick to throw up defenses as quick as possible. He looked up to her as she brushed her hand across his cheek and gave a rather compelling statement. "Yes, it is." Because indeed it was...he had no proof that she wouldn't corrupt the child, only had to trust her on the matter.
He ran his hand down from her shoulder along her arm to her elbow and then back up, letting his fingers trail up across her neck and then trace her jaw, brushign them lightly over her lips and them her cheek, trailing them back to brush through her hair. He honestly didn't know what to say...after all once could consider him being childish over the matter, but she at least seemed to understand how hard this was for him and how hard it would be to get over four or so centuries of a certian lifestyle.
And that fight continued until Malikhai was coughing on water. "Time out!" Needed a moment...after all, treading water and such got tiring after a moment and he needed breath or two. And then it was back to splashing and tackling each other in the water.
Piper merely contiued to keep watch over them, happy with thier play. After all, that meant that they would be all worn out later and she wouldn't have to be put through a hard bedtimes scenario. Yes, very good thing...they could play to thier hearts content.
