The once timid Applin, the very Applin that was resorting to tricks and surprise, was now going on the attack and had every intention of not letting up. This was a pure instinct driven attack, to keep going after your foe until they flee the fight or can't retaliate anymore. That might work on other wild Pokemon but this time its foe was a trainer owned Pokemon, one owned by a talented trainer like Tristen so it wouldn't be so easy as to keep rolling and rushing the foe. Tristen was quick to pick up on its plot and thus Rookidee was given a fighting chance, the bird dodging the next roll and of course the Applin would just come back around for another, not really thinking at this point. That would prove to be a mistake.
The Applin made no attempts to avoid the incoming attack, not that it could even see it coming at this point. As it rolled towards its foe again Rookidee would wait for the perfect moment to fly up off the ground and then finally deliver an attack of its own from the sky. As Rookidee came down with a furious slash of an Aerial Ace the Applin would have its momentum disrupted, the rolling apple bouncing off the ground and soaring through the air as the Applin inside let out a pained screech. Once the apple hit the ground it would bounce a few times before finally coming to a stop. For a long it laid there motionless with nothing happening, that was until the Applin itself halfway slithered out of the apple and went limp, fainting. "App...lin..." It let out one last groan before the lights went out.
"Wow, that's the first time I've seen an Applin put up such a fight." Matteo commented as he approached Tristen. "You going to eat that?" The boy asked with a laugh as he pointed at the Applin. "Joking!"

Tristen sighed a bit once the decisive blow landed. He had to agree with Matteo, that Pokémon put up a lot more of a fight than he would have given it credit for. Though Tristen was compelled to have an eyebrow raise when asked if he was going to eat the Applin’s apple, a raise subsiding when the joking comment came soon after. Tristen walked over towards his Rookidee who made a landing to check on itself. The Rollout attack was still bothering the bird and having to meet it head on as he did wasn’t the greatest either. “Good job, Rookidee. Doing good.” The bird chirped out in approval. Tristen knelt down and allowed Rookidee to cling on to Tristen’s hand. When he brought his hand up towards his shoulder, the bird promptly fluttered on over to perch on the Manectric hybrid’s shoulder.
“Well, one thing is for certain, these Pokémon are tougher than the lot that’s south of Mezagoza. I think coming out here was about right for our Pokémon to get some sort of challenge. Close calls aside…” he said, thinking back to the Scyther from earlier. “So, anywhere else you want to look?” he then asked Matteo.

"Yeah, they are bit tougher than back around Paldea's dinner plate." Matteo replied, his comment referencing Los Platos, whether or not Tristen knew that was another story though. Scanning the area with Buizel still on his shoulder Matteo tapped his chin a bit before making a decision. "Let's walk back a ways but take a different way, see if I can't find one more thing for Buizel challenge before we call it." With that said Matteo took off, expecting Tristen to follow.
As suggested the boys would head back in the general direction of Medali but took a different path, the smell of burnt grass still lingering even from a distance. Matteo would acknowledge a few Pokemon he spotted along the way but they weren't anything he wanted to send Buizel at, things like Foongus and Pachirisu. Matteo would come to a sudden stop though and began to sniff the air, looking around confused for a second. "Smell that? Smells like...aluminum free deodorant and wee-"
"Hey kids!" A woman's voice called out to the pair. From the brush came a tall woman, lugging around a giant backpack on her back. Behind her came a man half her size, however just a little under average in height, she was just that tall. "Man, smell that Celia? Someone must be smoking up- oh...hey dudes!" The man began to say, cutting his sentence off as he spotted Matteo and Tristen.
"Uh...hi?" Was all Matteo could muster up in response.
"I'm Celia and this is my boyfriend Kevin. We've been backpacking across Paldea for the past month to not only get closer to nature but also get closer to our Pokemon." The woman explained.
"Yeah dudes, it's been a blast hehe." Kevin said with a chuckle.
"Would you two be up for helping us with the second part and take us on in a double battle? We prefer to battle as a team so running into two young trainers here is like..." Celia asked, challenging them to a battle but still not finishing her train of though.
"Fate maaan!" Kevin said, finishing the sentence.
Matteo would listen to them both, giving Kevin the eye before turning his focus on Tristen to see what he thought, leaning in to whisper. "What do you think? They are weird but a battle could be fun."

Tristen would follow Matteo off with Rookidee still perched on his shoulder, helping Matteo out to figure out something that Buizel might be able to test his mettle against. He didn’t really want to leave Buizel and Matteo hanging, especially after having leading him out here to get his Litten to evolve to Torracat. Tristen would feel bad if he was the only one that seemed to have reaped the benefits of this excursion. Tristen wasn’t sure if Buizel would be up to fighting a Scyther himself, if any more was close by, if he was honest, but he needed something that might give him that good enough push like that Pokémon. Tristen would stop when the Growlithe hybrid did, speaking up when he smelled the out of place odors of the area. Something that Tristen was now starting to take note of himself, grimacing himself.
“For a second there, I thought Indie followed us out here…” Tristen said to Matteo when the two came out of hiding and introduced themselves. Tristen looked over to Matteo, thinking about it for a moment. “Well, we came out here for training ourselves.” He whispered back. “I don’t see why not. We might need to be ready for anything though. Lets let them tip their hand first…” Tristen recommended.

Matteo nodded at Tristen, then turning his attention back to the man and woman facing them. "You're on! I know a good clear place not far from here where we can battle, follow me." With that Matteo, Tristen and their soon-to-be foes would set off.
Minutes later both pairs of trainers would be facing each other down in the very same clearing where Tristen fought the Scyther earlier, that burnt smell now more prominent then ever. Matteo would give Tristen little teasing giggles once the other boy realized where he was taking them. Still though, it was suitable battlefield, especially after Litten burned it all down flat.
"Someone got a little too happy and forgot to put out their camp fire, huh? Hehe..." Kevin chuckled as he saw the place, his girlfriend asking him to focus.
"Let's get this started, shall we? One Pokemon each sound fair? If so...come on out, Girafarig!" Celia called out as she tossed her ball onto the ground, the giraffe Pokemon appearing from the ball with a neigh.
"I guess it's time for my main man to hit the scene! Slowpoke!" Kevin said, tossing his ball into the air, the device bouncing off the ground once before releasing a Slowpoke.
"Heh, both Psychics, didn't expect that from these guys..." Matteo mumbled to himself before going to grab a Pokeball. Matteo would itch to send out one of his stronger Pokemon but remembered why they were hear and looked back at his Buizel on his shoulder, the Pokemon just itching for a fight. He could easily defeat these chumps with one of his others but alas he had to stick to the plan. "Buizel, go at it!" Matteo shouted, Buizel leaping off his shoulder and landing just in front of him, ready to fight.
Once Tristen called out his Pokemon Celia would declare the battle had begun and they had the first move.

Tristen would recall Rookidee for now, then followed his friend, and much to his surprise, Matteo lead them back to the battlefield where the fated battle with Scyther was held. Tristen would look around, not seeing the Scyther around anymore. It probably managed to get back to consciousness and went to go tend to its injuries somehow. Plenty of burns to tend to, for sure. Hopefully it won’t be back to be of a bother, especially in this Pokémon battle. He’d take a position near by to Matteo and got at the ready. The opposing Pokémon would be sent out, and Tristen’s confidence wasn’t exactly the greatest. Technically, he could beat these two easily with either Gyarados or Dragonite, but again, he wasn’t out here for them. He was wanting to train his others, like Rookidee. Sprigatito was probably not going to manage out here, being so young. Torracat now was far too worn out and needed to keep resting for the time being. There was one other which technically had a type advantage, but it wasn’t…the greatest considering. However, he probably wasn’t going to get much better of an opportunity and hopefully Matteo can get Buizel to help out for that matter. Ideally, maybe he could help Buizel evolve in this battle too. But it was just the matter of trying to make it through.
“Alright, go! Wimpod!” Tristen shouted, tossing the ball out. The ball would land onto the battlefield and in a flash, the Wimpod would materialize upon the charred battlefield.
“Wiimmpaa?”
“Easy, Wimpod. Training day, like I talked about yesterday.” The watery arthropod’s antennae shot straight up, immediately not liking the fact that it was thrusted into battle. “Hey, you got a partner for this battle. Calm down.” The Wimpod looked over towards Matteo’s Buizel, but then looked over towards the opposition, the Girafarig and Slowpoke, and one could imagine Wimpod sweating bullets right about now. “Its just like how you were helping Fela evolve Scatterbug to a Spewpa, then Vivillion. Its no different. You got this.” Tristen said, trying to be encouraging to the Wimpod. The only hope was that Wimpod doesn’t wimp out at a bad time. “Okay, I think we’re ready…” Tristen said.
Tristen quickly tried to think what to go after first, unsure what would differentiate a Girafarig and a Slowpoke from those in other regions, save for the former’s potential to evolve. While the Girafarig was a grave concern, given that to his recollection, it had a wide assortment of abilities to draw upon, the Slowpoke unnerved him a little. Behind that dopey grin belied a potential to cripple both Wimpod and Buizel in the long term, giving the Girafarig all sorts of openings. And as far as the two should be concerned, the means to take the punishment alongside. There was honestly no right answer to the situation in front of them. While he wants to think that these two hitchhikers were well out of their depth, he didn’t want to assume. At this point, he was going to commit and try to adapt. “Wimpod! Use Struggle Bug! Go after the Girafarig!” Tristen shouted.
Once again the Wimpod’s antennae shot straight up, realizing a command was made. The Wimpod scrambled about the battlefield, a lime-green aura started to shroud the Wimpod as it made the beeline for the Girafarig, then leaped out to the tall Pokémon to flail upon it.

The Girafarig was taken by surprised by the tiny little bug's sudden and erratic assault, the front head certain it was coming for it only for the bug to go right by and hit the black head in the back instead. "Fariiig!" Both heads cried out in pain as they together suffered a Super Effective hit. The front would buck up into the air out of instinct. "Girafarig! Calm down and give it a Stomp!" The hiker named Celia commanded. In that moment the startled Long Neck Pokemon would regain some of its wits, rotating around sloppily like it was trying to dance and would come back down with both of its front hooves glowing with white energy as it attempted to Stomp on Whimpod.
"Oh no you don't! Buizel! Aqua Jet to the front yellow head!" Matteo commanded, seeing an opening already to aid his ally in this battle. Without delay Buizel would launch itself off the ground with a pressurized jet of water from behind it and would slam into the front head of the Girafarig with a watery tackle. Buizel's Aqua Jet would arrived just a second before the Stomp came down, the force of the attack causing the Girafarig to sway to the side and miss its target as it Stomped on nothing. Buizel however landed hand and without grace from the sudden save, taking a bit of a tumble on the ground.
"Harsh cheap shot, man. Slowpoke, don't let them bully your friend, use Confusion on the Buizel. Put it in the clouds...hehe." Kevin said with a chuckle to himself. With its dopey grin never changing, nor did it move in the slightest for that matter, the Slowpoke's eyes would glow blue with the same blue surrounding the dazed Buizel. The aquatic mammal would only have a split second to notice the glowing before it was suddenly snatched up into the air several feet, the Buizel flailing around helplessly for a bit as the psychic force squeezed it before the Slowpoke let it go, allowing gravity to finish the rest.

The Wimpod as soon as it was done with its Struggle Bug started to wonder if anyone actually knew what they were commanding when the bug found itself nearly underfoot by the likes of the Girafarig’s stomp. In fact, it only froze up and winced, waiting on the impact, only to realize a second later the Buizel managed to save the bug from the Girafarig’s hooves. At this point, it seems like the best thing to do is focus down the Girafarig, but with this Slowpoke putting its two cents on the matter, it was going to be easier said. “Matteo, keep the Girafarig busy for a second, will you?” He asked his partner. “Wimpod! Sand Attack Slowpoke!” he shouted.
“WIMMPAA!” The Wimpod shouted, sprinting away from the Girafarig before it got any other commands to squish the bug. The Wimpod would start speeding about, throwing dirt, sand, and gravel about towards the Slowpoke to blind the dopey water Pokémon. As far as he could figure, the less of an issue this Slowpoke can be, the better.

The dopey Slowpoke, nor its trainer for that matter, wouldn't react to the Wimpod running up on it nor did they immediately react to the sand being thrown in the Pokemon's face as it just stood there and took an eyeful of sand. Another second or two would go by before Kevin responded. "Harsh dude, that's like, foul play or...something, hehe." Celia would look at her boyfriend for a moment and just shake her head.
"Any who...Girafarig! Use Psybeam on the Whimpod!" Celia commanded her Pokemon. The Psychic and Normal time would flip around, pointing its black head at Whimpod before firing off a rainbow colored beam of energy from its mouth at the tiny little Bug type.
Matteo knew there was no way Buizel could get to Whimpod in time with this one, remembering what Tristen said instead, giving the boy a thumb's up before ordering his next move. "Buizel! Bite on the black head!" Immediately Buizel would take off running for Girafarig, down on all fours.
"Hey dude, I don't think so. Slowpoke use another Confusion." Kevin commanded. Unfortunately it wasn't fast enough to stop the Buizel as it jumped onto the back of the Girafarig, leaping off its back and clamping down on the neck of the black head right after it fired off its Psybeam. It was right after where the Slowpoke tried to grab it with Confusion only for it to miss and pick up a little pebble. "Oops...hehe." Kevin chuckled while the Girafarig reeled back onto its yellow side, neighing in pain as Buizel continued to sink its teeth in.

Tristen couldn’t help but to stare in confusion. These two trainers were acting as slow as the Slowpoke. He couldn’t really understand it all too well. What he did, however, was the command that was given to the Girafarig. Tristen’s eye went wide and he quickly sucked his teeth in near panic. “Wimpod! Look out!” Tristen tried to warn. The Wimpod’s antennae shot straight up, stopping his Sand attack assault upon the Slowpoke, but as he looked back, he’d get blasted by the psychic shot from the Girafarig’s tail. The Wimpod would end up flipping head over scales upon the shot before hitting the ground on his back. The attack unnerved the bug, an eye twitching in nervousness and fear. “Wimpod! Don’t do it! Buizel needs your help!” Tristen said. “Just hang in there! Leave the Slowpoke alone for now and Aqua Jet attack the Girafarig!”
The Wimpod quickly scampered back to his feet, seeing the Buizel trying to hang on to the wailing Girafarig. The Wimpod would then rush for the tall psychic type, water spaying out from him, turning the bug into a watery missile that was locked on to the Girafarig. The plan didn’t necessarily change. The Girafarig seems to be providing the brunt of the damage right at the moment; it needed to be a non factor sooner than later.

The Girafarig was really getting gained up at this point, unable to stop the barrage of attacks with Wimpod being the latest one as the little bug slammed into it side of the Psychic Pokemon causing it to cry out in pain. In this moment of being hit again Buizel took the opportunity to let go and safely slip away, joining Wimpod at its side as the bug also finished its attack. "Buizel bui!" Buizel complimented its partner as it patted the little bug on the back. Celia would note the hesitation Wimpod showed for a moment there.
"Tch, Girafarig, are you okay!?" The woman called out to her Pokemon, noticing it was panting heavily, both heads kind of hanging in exhaustion. "Kevin! Focus on that Buizel! I have an idea!" She called out to her boyfriend who gave her a thumbs up.
"Slowpoke, another Confusion dude, take it up." Kevin ordered his Pokemon. The Slowpoke, while still disoriented, would almost just telekinetically grab at the grass but actually managed to correct itself as the blue glow surrounded Buizel and snatched it up off the ground and into the air, Buizel kicking around as it attempted to grab on to Wimpod but failed. With Buizel airborne and being squeezed by Confusion Celia saw her opportunity.
"Girafarig, charge at Buizel and use Assurance!" The woman commanded. The next thing Wimpod would see is Girafarig charging in its direction, heads lowered and the front one snorting. To Wimpod it was no doubt a carry sight and might make it believe it was coming at it only for the Girafarig to leap over Wimpod, do a spin in the air, and smack Buizel with its Dark energy empowered tail head, sending the Water type flying.
"Buizel!" Matteo called out as his Pokemon hit the ground hard, Buizel struggling to get back on its feet, the Assurance dealing heavy damage. "B-Buiz...el..." It huffed. "Dang that looked like it hurt. Keep your distance for now! use Water Gun on that punk as payback!" Matteo ordered. Buizel would nod and attempted to inhale and unleash a jet of water, almost failing for a second as it was still catching its breath. It would succeed the second time and blast Girafarig with a Water Gun, the Psychic grunting in pain but actually hung in there. Grumbling angry its eyes began to glow with Psychic power. Something was coming and Buizel wouldn't survive whatever it was, though Girafarig wouldn't survive another hit either. One of them was going down soon. Maybe Wimpod could tip the scales.

Wimpod was starting to feel a little better after getting that word of encouragement from his battle partner, but then started to panic once again once the Confusion took hold of Buizel. “WIMPAA!” The bug shouted as the Buizel floated away by the Slowpoke’s Confusion attack. Upon hearing the attack call out of the Girafarig trainer, Tristen had to get Wimpod to act fast. “Wimpod! Try another Struggle Bug on Girafarig! Hurry!” The bug would panicked hurry towards the oncoming Girafarig, ready to land the attack on the psychic Pokémon. But much to both Wimpod’s and Tristen’s surprise, the Girafarig would leap over the bug and off towards Buizel. They too decided to gang up on one Pokémon. “Oh no...” Tristen silently uttered out. There was nothing that Wimpod could do fast enough to stop that. The Assurance would land its mark and Buizel would be left in rough shape.
Matteo trying to keep Buizel at a distance did sound like a good idea at first, seeing the Buizel attack with a Water Gun attack, but that didn’t mean a whole lot when there was a Slowpoke still causing havoc, and attacking at range wasn’t a bad idea for the lot of them either. But then something caught the Manectric’s hybrid attention. Tristen started getting nervous once he started to see what the Girafarig was starting to do. It was a familiar sight, his Xatu knowing the same attack himself. “Matteo, I think the Girafarig is calling for a Future Sight. Even if we take it out, that attack is set to come on its way, with or without it. We got to try to end this fight altogether fast.” Tristen quickly tried to explain. “Wimpod! Aqua Jet!” Tristen shouted to his bug. He needed to try to support Buizel all he could and keep the water Pokémon in this fight otherwise, this battle was probably going to be for naught. And doing so while Wimpod is already poised to retreat on his own was making things really dicey.
“Wimpaa!” The Wimpod shouted, once again darting across the battlefield in its water missile fashion to slam himself into the Girafarig.

"Oh boy, Future Sight? I guess these guys aren't as dumb as they looked." Matteo grumbled.
The Wimpod would slam into the Girafarig with its Aqua Jet, a burst of water resulting from the violently impact. The Aqua Jet would prove to be the final nail in its coffin in this battle as its kneels buckled and the Girafarig crumbled to the ground, fainting. That was one down, one to go.
"You tried your best, Girafarig, return." Celia said as she withdrew her Pokemon to its ball, then looking to her boyfriend. "I set you up, now try your best to finish this."
"I don't think Buizel has much longer in this battle, especially if that was a Future Sight and it's focused on him. With that in mind...Buizel! Bite it on its tail and don't let go no matter what!" Matteo commanded his Pokemon. With a cry the Buizel would get down on all fours and run up to the Slowpoke, getting behind it and then clamping down on its tail with Dark energy infused teeth. This would illicit not even the smallest response from the Slowpoke, not only because it had a delay on registering pain but also because they had targeted its least sensitive part. Make no mistake through, this was sapping away at Slowpoke's health as Buizel sunk its teeth in.
"Aw man, this is harsh. Now it's two on one, way to kill the vibe." Kevin bemoaned. "Hey dude, you got something on your tail now. Dude? Ah well...Slowpoke, use Disable behind you." The hiker ordered.
His Slowpoke would c**k its head in confusion as it didn't really get the command but still looked behind itself and saw Buizel, the pain finally registering as it clicked that it was being bit. Moaning in pain it gave off a flash of blue light from its eyes as it stared at Buizel causing the Pokemon to go slack jawed as it released Slowpoke's tail.
"Crap! It Disabled Buizel's Bite! There goes that idea!" Matteo complained. It was not all for naught though, they did do damage and now the Slowpoke was very much open for anything.

“Its not over yet.” Tristen said. Resigned that Wimpod was probably poised to run regardless, the more important part was trying to keep Buizel in the fight. Making things a little more dire in that task, now with Buizel without a Dark type attack to go in for more extensive damage, now it was left on Wimpod to lay in on the pressure. “Wimpod! Hurry! Try to use Struggle Bug on the Slowpoke!” Tristen commanded. He needed to at the very least try to keep the trainer’s and the Slowpoke’s attention on Wimpod for now. With Slowpoke being pushed off to the side by Tristen, and deliberately so, to try to isolate the Girafarig, Slowpoke was still effectively a fresh Pokémon in this battle while Wimpod and Buizel was running themselves ragged trying to come out on top over the Girafarig. The Sand Attack was starting to apparently wear off now, only having bought them a scant amount of time which made things all the more pressing.
“Wimpaa!” Wimpod shouted. As the Buizel got disabled and fallen off the Slowpoke, Wimpod would start trying to speed in, closing the distance and bringing its bug power forth to strike at the Slowpoke. The time for hindering was out the window, that Future Sight was going to be coming at any time.

Slowpoke would be struck by the Bug energies of the Struggle Bug, the dopey Pokemon wailing in pain as it took the Super Effective move head on, feeling its Special Attack energies being sapped. The more damage they could stack on the thing the better, the only issue being it was difficult to tell how much damage they've done with this species. It would be several seconds before the sluggish Pokemon could respond to the attack and Matteo intended on capitalizing on it while he still could.
"Buizel! Time to switch moves! Use Double Hit!" The Growlithe hybrid commanded his Pokemon.
Buizel would slide over to the front of the Slowpoke this time and turn around on its heel, pointing its rear end and most importantly its tails at the Slowpoke. After sticking its tongue out at the Slowpoke it would pull one tail back, charge it up with Normal energy, and then slap it clean across the opposing Pokemon's face with all its might. The slap was quickly followed up by another one from the other tail. Still though the Slowpoke didn't react to the hits until seconds later when its head violently swayed way one and then back the other, as if slapped by invisible tails. It was always a funny sight to see, Matteo holding back a snicker in that moment.
"Maaan, we're getting gained up on. Hey, Celia? Didn't you-" Kevin began to say, his question cut off by the arrival of a beam of pink Psychic energy from the sky above Buizel, the beam crashing down on it violently and causing the Pokemon to scream out in pain. "Oh..."
"Buizel no!" Matteo shouted as the Future Sight consumed Buizel but it was far too late for that. Once the beam disappeared they all could see Buizel passed out on the ground, belly first. Buizel fainted. "Ugh...I'm sorry, Tristen." Matteo sighed as he recalled his Pokemon, feeling like he let his companion down as he hung his head.
"Guess we still got a shot, Slowpoke, hehe...let's use something a little more...dank, show them what Girafarig taught you bro! Psybeam dude!" Kevin called out to his Pokemon. The dopey smiling Pokemon would respond to the command a second later as it pulled its tail over its head and fired off a rainbow colored beam of energy from the tip of its tail at Wimpod. For a brief moment it looked like the beam was perfectly aimed for the Bug Pokemon only for it to hit the ground in front of it just a few inches away. "W-what...?" Kevin declared, baffled, Celia facepalming. Looks like the Sand Attack from earlier pulled through again.
