The Prince wandered down, his white shirt crumpled and he was only just doing up his trousers as he reached the room. "Sorry I got, er, sidetracked. Afterparty still happening?"

"Look's like someone's up all night to get lucky." Minty smirked, "But yeah. Still going strong, my love."

"I didn't do the summer reading.""Not even a bit. You are tenacious and voracious when it comes to your...pursuits." She hooked a finger into his collar and stood on tip-toe to kiss his cheek, "Just remember who you come home to."

He grinned at the kiss, "Well, what am I to do? You've been so busy reading all these books.." Xavier picked up one and tossed it aside, "I had to find some amusement somewhere."

"I'm on a deadline here, but if I left the party to go read 10,000 pages before tomorrow, there'd be an emergency. You'd run out of punch, the veggie tray would wilt, Arron's alter-ego would start duking it out with Monster on the front lawn while Failinn lands a spaceship on the dance floor. So here I am with my date, Nathaniel Hawthorne.""Hey. I have to take that back to the library." Minty pouted when he tossed one of her tomes, "But I suppose I do need a study break..."

Perking up a bit at the rustling sound of book pages, the blonde inched over to the towers of tomes Minty had brought to the lawn. Sitting down on the grass next to the busy hostess, she leaned over her shoulder to catch a glimpse of which story she was reading, a hand reaching back into the tower to pluck one for herself. "Ohh, which Hawthorn ya readin'?"

"Again, you speak the truth. Now shall I offer a song up as a request or somehow have it play much like at your last dance?" The smirk stayed in place as he awaited her decision as to requesting or just making it happen. The song he had in mind had a good beat to follow, and was certainly not a song one would hear at a ball. To Tobias it seemed fitting for an after party.
((In case our fuzzy blue friend can't be here to take the request, I'll leave it here. ))

Barely glancing up from the book she had taken, Mattie answered the pilot in a distracted manner, "Old author, Puritan period, most known for 'The Scarlet Letter' and 'The Minister's Black Veil' ...I think I got that right...right Minty?" A detective had to be well read...at least that's what her Father said.
