hmm if there that low colatural and precision based why not just pull up the plant's blue prints and fire into to the plant around the non vital areas inside?
PostPosted: Sun Jun 03, 2007 3:03 pm

High potential for collapse, not to mention their could be civvies hiding inside.

Thats without the fact I don't happen to have internal blueprints on file for buildings I have nothing to do with. *shrug*

wouldn't it be better to collapse the building on the invaders then let them acomplish there goal?
and a military without a hacker who couldn't get ahold of them? .... wait thats my character. but i can't just do that without a called in order to do it, i wouldn't even know whats happening right now. actualy I could do even more in this sistuation to the plant if i'm called in for computer help.

and it wouldn't hinder me from participateing in any other events.

edit: and thats if the g.m. abides.

Well, the Plant would be a tough shell to crack first Goldbrease. The building is more or less designed to be a very "hard" target. It's Gaia after all. wink What with Demons that can blow up entire starship fleets running around, gundams, and people who carry enough ordinance to outfit a marine battalion (Just go out there, it's real easy to find them), it's not like they'd build it to be weak.

I was thinking that, technique-wise, the building would have been constructed like the old Nazi Germany "Flak Towers". If you don't know about them, well, they were pretty much bomb proof and the cornerstones of Berlin's Anti-Air defenses. In fact, after the war was over Allied Engineers actually tried to demolish the building, twice with explosives, and failed to do more than just crumble the south facing wall on one of them.

In the end they just buried them under the rubble from the streets of the decimated Berlin.

So while it probably would be possible for someone to put some kenetic ordinance through that building, it'd be a hard enough target that you'd probably end up demolishing the whole thing breaking through it. Economic costs as Mister Decker pointed out, dollarwise it's cheaper to throw away even a whole Marine regiment taking that reactor than just bombing it out. People are cheap. sweatdrop At least in dollars if not in Political Capital.

As far as plan "Hack the Planet" goes... it'd take you a lot of time to do that. Probably more time than you'd have to defeat the enemy. If you want to try it, sure, go ahead. I won't stop you. But I will tell you that unless you're a freakin' genius hacker with a great working knowledge of where to look your chances of pulling the answer out in what, 8 posts is low.

Considering the timeframe for 8 posts in a combat situation would probably be something like "5 minutes" or so. sweatdrop I mean, more or less. But you figure that last round of posts is about 30 seconds of action for all sides really. Maybe 1 minute for Mister Decker. So best case you're talking about 8, maybe 10 minutes to accomplish it. Fairly nigh impossible.

Edit: Wow... The GNV is callous. wink Courtmarshals for the crew of the GNV Archangel Mister Decker? They just willingly missiled Civvies... sweatdrop At least reading Talon's last post.

I did a force upload breach transmission of an os eraseing virus into 4 opposeing mecha at once who were running on 3 differn't systems and security procedures. I duno if lindy remembers it since 2 of the mecha were being rped by her.

to do a fast hacking into the plant i would need to conect into one of its computer terminals since i would be miles away that aint going to hapen, I would have to iether run threw the internet and hack thrue the plants ip or use a laser comunications link bounce it off the archangel and hack into the plant that way.
and then the mostlikely thing i could do once inside is to lockout the oposition, activate and seal every blast down in the building (sealing the opposition into groups inside sealed cavitys, posiby shut off and seal the ventilation system and then bombard the plants computer network with viiruses which would be computer repairs but much less costly then fixing a plant turned to ruble.

Like I said, you can try. I won't stop you from trying. But you forget things like "Get around the network's security" which would mean, I dunno, guessing passcodes, find a backdoor, trying to just 'force' your way in with some mass denial attack? I'm not a hacker so I wouldn't know the method, but it'd take time. Then what you would want to do would take more time.

Not saying what you could do would be awesome. I'm saying "You're on the clock" and between getting the call, getting set up to do your hacking, getting past security however you're going to get in, then actually doing what you plan on, you might just run out of time before the enemy has "Mission Accomplished".

Plus that "Seal the Ventilation" idea has that "What if there are Civilians inside?" quesiton attached.

Though after Talon I'm thinking "Protect the Civilians" isn't exactly high on the list. wink

EDIT: And I'm waiting for Misericordianeo in Stage 2.

your right. but upon haveing the system one can also check the security cameras which would take time but is not to dificult to actualy do while proceeding with other tasks at the same time.

and on a second part of your new rp post....

the thing about the under taker is sorta the cliche part but there also the matter of if the under taker survives....

Eh, it's late at night. Didn't feel like spending the energy to come up with something more clever. While the bit there fits perfectly well despite cliche. Gets the point across, you know what I mean? wink

Though since Talon is nukin' Civilians now he should just go and slaughter them all. Leave no witnesses so there won't be any trouble, any Courtmarshals, etc, down the line. Just say the enemy did it. *Shrug* Maybe?

wait...why the hell are civilians standing in between the forest and the powerplant after hours anyway? shouldn't they have all been in their homes by then?

I can't believe I forgot about them.....

this can't be good

RE: I just can't catch a break can I Arc? very funny... sweatdrop

dude, this really sucks...well, there's one way to honorably atone.

Drop the ship out of orbit and smash it into the plant, self-destructing on impact...

nah, I'll survive court-marshal, I was protecting my men from enemy ground forces and backing up Captain Rivers
PostPosted: Mon Jun 04, 2007 7:20 am

I forgot about rezzes-r-us... to be honest I wouldn't worry about the missiles, according to BT you cant do orbit to surface missile attacks, only ballistic and PPC... as such going by BT they'd burst in the atmosphere... or command will remote detonate them, I leave that to talon to decide which is more practical to save his NPC's career.

you think that'd work jason? I mean I'm sitting in low orbit, probably breaching the atmosphere anyways, so the missiles were launched from in-atmosphere, or that's what I was planning...

...I'd rather my career suffer. I did what I deemed proper for the situation.
