Children Of The Flame

Gion blinked, and his hands came up quickly. So far? he signed rapidly, his fingers flickering back and forth. What do you mean, so far?

The man hadn't married his sister yet ... he had better not have meant ...

Seeker squealed with laughter and lay on the floor beside Daemon's chair, looking up at him, her face etched with glee. "You really are sitting on it!" she laughed, pointing up at him. "That's so weird! You go through people but you can sit on a chair!"

She tapped the chair leg and giggled. "Can you lift it up?"

"Elnara loves children," Lore replied back as if it was a normal thing, "I think, surely she might want to adopt more."

He had, after the adoption of... well probably since Storm and Starr, seeing the way her face had lit up with pure joy at seeing the twins' vases that she truely loved children. Therefore, he had thought, and expected knowing that when he married her, there would be more children, and in the future depending on how long he took, there would be more children before he even married her.

"I never know when, or how, but when it happens I'm fine with it. They make her very happy."

Daemon blinked, it kind of reminded him of when she was younger and she kept chatting with him. It was so odd to be in that position again and to have her giggling like that. Still, Daemon had to admit it was a good question, nervously he got up. Which was weird, since he did not fall, but then again he wasn't really there.

It felt weird though to stand like this, to reach out and grab the chair. It felt strange because it wasn't quite there in his hand, but enough that he could indeed push the chair back. Everything about this felt surreal after so long.

Gion smiled and allowed himself to relax. No, he had been wrong to make such suppositions. Of course Lore was an honourable man, just as Elnara was an honourable woman.

I'm glad she's happy, he signed, smiling widely at Lore. It was one of the things that I had always feared, that she might not be happy. I mean, her own family disowned her and she was forced to go to another world entirely ... I really had no idea how she might be getting along. I worried about her.

Seeker giggled and wiggled her foot through Daemon's leg. "You look like you're going to fall!" she laughed.

"It helps," Lore murmured, "I think, because she had found a family there too. It's so big, sometimes I wonder if there was someone I haven't been introduced to while I had been there."

There was always the chance, she had so many siblings from her foster family.

"Well, I haven't actually stood in a very longer time," Daemon commented.

Not to mention it was disconcerning for him to see her hand constantly go through the leg he was trying to stand on. It was kind of.. well not odd, but you would think he would feel something when she did that! He didn't, at least not something defined, just felt strange.

Gion chuckled silently. So Kara is still adopting regularly, then? he signed in amusement. That's interesting. But I believe that being taken into a family of a similar size to Elnara's own probably made the transition a lot easier than it would otherwise have been.

He nodded to himself and smiled.

"Papa says you were in there for almost three hundred years!" Seeker grinned at Daemon, scrambling to her feet. She stood right next to him, so close that her shoulder and arm were actually going through him, and measured her height against his.

"You're taller than me," she nodded with a grin. "But not a whole lot! I'm just as tall as Papa, maybe I'll be taller than you someday!"

Lore laughed softly at that, he couldn't help it because it was far so close to the truth. Especially as of recently, as he knew since he was told a bit about Yukiko.

"I was told actually Silvrendir was adopted at the same time as Yukiko by Kara," Lore murmured, "And the Storm and Starr were adopted at the same time as Lin, so yes she does."

He mused thoughtfully and realized something.

"I actually don't know how many brothers Elnara has, I have not met all of them I believe, since some of them work away from the castle."

"Quite possibly, I do believe so," Daemon nodded with a smile, "I'm only average height for a human."

And since the average elf was suppose to be much, much taller, he was pretty sure unless Seeker inheirted her father's height to an extent, she would grow to be much taller than him. Even after all this time it was hard to believe she was so young.

There are eight of us, Gion replied, fingers flickering rapidly. But you'll have to get Nadya to tell you everyone's names, I don't know if you would recognize the signs for them.

He was certain that would be the case, considering that there were even names in this world that either had no sign or a sign that was ambiguous.

Nadya at the moment was keeping an eye on Seeker, trying to make sure she wasn't making Daemon too uncomfortable. She was curious to know how long the man was going to be able to keep his form, since it was obvious that it wasn't a physical manifestation - at least, not physical enough to be his real body.

Seeker grinned at Daemon. "Humans aren't very tall, are they?" she asked with the tactlessness of a child. "Papa's not tall either, Mama says most elves are actually tall like Nako and Neko."

"Hm... probably not," Lore murmured, "Since the writing system is different."

Most names were spelled out, but in the human alphabet which had lost some of it's phoetinic letterings, becoming a language quite difficult to read and write with for those who was use to a larger alphabet. Elvish being one of those.

Daemon chuckled a bit at her comment, he didn't mind so much she had little tact, after all he was human and she was stating a fact. Not to mention she was young technically speaking.

"Yes, it is unusual to have a human close to an elf's height," he admitted.

He wasn't sure how long he could keep on like this, normally he didn't notice the things a person with a normal body would. Except being mentally tired, since really that's all it was.

Gion looked over at Nadya for a moment, and she, feeling his eyes on her back, turned to face him.

"Yes?"

Can you tell Lore my brothers' names? Gion signed to her. He wants to know but I don't think he would recognize the signs for them.

Nadya nodded. "Of course," she smiled, and turned to face Lore. "From the eldest, they go Elrohir, Ruel and Riordan, Gion, Rigel, Reave, Shea and Mikhail."

Gion signed each of the names as Nadya said them, hoping that Lore would pick up the signs. It would make talking about each of them easier in the future.

"What about where you're from?" Seeker asked eagerly. "Are the elves there tall too, like Lore is? And are the humans all like your size?"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 22, 2008 2:44 pm

Lore nodded keeping an eye on Gion's hands, he hoped he could remember. Though he did try to make note of them for the future. Since who knew if any of those brothers would come up in conversation.

"I see... now, okay," he nodded, "I've met Ruel, Elrohir and Mikhail, but no one else at the castle as far as brothers go."

"Ah well.. it depends on the type of elf, yes Lore's people are naturally that tall, no.. most humans at most are 6'3 or so, it is very rare to have a human who is 7", and ah..."

Daemon was becoming slightly fatigue trying to answer all those questions and it was like he was being bombarded by the little... not so little girl. He flickered a bit, it looked like he was ready to just rest now.
