"Oh," Arlen said, gathering her dishes onto the tray. "Well I'll take care of these and be right back," he said, carrying the loaded tray into the kitchen to return the butter, syrup and sugar to where they go and wash the dirty dishes.

She whined in complaint, murmuring something to him about him not being any fun. "Mm.. okay.." she replied, snuggling up against him, her foot subconsciously finding his leg and wrapping around it.

"I can take care of it," Arlen said, when Ukaia started washing the dishes, but he didn't move to stop her and just passed her new ones in exchange for the clean ones which he dried and put away.

"That's a relief," Arlen said, leaning against the counter. "I thought I had shrunk for a bit," he says, grinning and blushing slightly at how stupid that sounded. "Well your ears are more.. vibrant," he said, taking a moment to pick the right word, it was hard to describe exactly.
