She was a curious elf wasn't she? And yes, four or so years ago he wasn't keen on talking about any of this. But time and change had a way of making one able to deal with some things. Or maybe he just didn't care anymore. "No, it wasn't my fault at all. The Crest Brigade, holds tight reins, but there are those who still slip under. There are those who come across a lone unarmed drow and consider it an opportunity...especially when he's already cornered by the leading rune mage master on the plane at the time, or at least seems to be."

"It takes more than one lesson Zykariel." Following his gaze over to Malikhai who was more or less minding himself as his father expressed his anger. A little mental soothing from mommy eased that a little.

He looked up at the reassurance given by his mother and over to his friend, giving a silent wave back across the table so as not to be a bother to daddy.

"Yes well...he makes no secret of that now does he?" Tapping her nose lightly. "Well...still, this is kinda like that."

And suddenly the light of understanding went off in Zahara's head and she finally understood his abhorrence to surface elves. She assumed, which could be a bad thing but hadn't gotten her into trouble so far, that his teacher was a surface elf. After all, what drow male would be permitted to be a Master and pass on his knowledge to fledgling generations. A female perhaps, one that went against the grain much like she did but ones like her were few and far between as she'd found out. "That's why you hate surface elves and were so confident that Piper would betray me. That's why you warned me for years to watch my back around her and that's why you were first to point the finger at her the first time we slept together." She was quiet for a few minutes after her bright revelation and then she sucked in a breath. "Cornered you? Why would he betray you like that?"

This was that patience thing again wasn't it? Daddy didn't learn runes in one day adn blah blah blah. He'd heard it again and again and again and it seemed the more he wanted to do, the more patient he had to become. But then that icky feeling started to come over him and he squirmed lightly in his seat then used his arms as pillows and rested his head.

"But Grandpa's mean in his worrying so that means Malik is being mean too." She shook her head, "But I know, it's not my concern or my place to give opinions. Can I have another bite? My tummy's talking again."

He nodded, no sense to lie about it because he didn't feel bad about accusing Piper of betrayal, and after all, Piper had indeed betrayed Zahara...not that Zahara didn't do it right back but that was a surface elf flaw for trusting too much. But yet she kept pushing didn't she? And yes he knew he could stop answering any time he wanted, but he didn't feel inclined to right now.

"Because Arch elves are the most close minded and traditional of all sub races, for whatever thier reasons. If you were given the choice between a lone drow, or your own kind, who would you choose? He went with his kind, turned a simple training session into an actual threatening one. I found myself on the receiving end of a beating. He not once spoke in or came to my defense, but instead turned against me, and then left with the others to leave me to die." That flat tone of his. "I finished perfected my skills on my own from then."

A look over to Zykariel, yup he was feeling those effects again wasn't he? Something really needed to be done about that. No doubt Sevilin would get on that and if he didn't well someone would. But she did reach a hand over, patting at the boy's back lightly.

And back over got handed the fork. "No, Ahkallyn is mean, Malik is truthful." After all, Malik wasn't calling the boy stupid or anything like Kieran's own father often did to him. MAlik was more or less pointing out facts.

Leaf was likewise starring into the mirror on the left. She tilted her head, trying to see through the mirror, but saw nothing in particular about it. She touched the glass, and felt nothing out of the ordinary. "Perhaps we are simply supposed to break through these." For a moment, she rested a shoulder against the mirror and fell through it. Why she could do that and not stick her ahdn through, she didn't know. She got up, dusted herself off, but on looking back behind her the mirror had gone as well as the three hallway junction. Nothing but bare hallway stretched in either direction.

"Fin? Can you hear me?"

"No, it is because the Earth Mother died." She shrugged. "It would have been an interesting experiance either way." Then a cute smile, "Is this the same dwarf that taught you how to dance?"

Deidrick panted and smiled in a very doggish way, proding at the drow's hand with his nose whenever he failed to continue petting.

"It would be an interesting persuit though, wouldn't it? A dream that never ends."

She laughed. "Right and don't you forget it. If you become too powerful, you'll eat nothing but ash and cinders." She ruffled his hair and stood up, stretching out her legs. "Come on Tarathiel, Meilikki wanted you to go out into the market today. She says your becoming a hermit."

Malik glared at him. absolutely glared.

"I have been in your place. I have gone after what was most important to me, and I got the scar to prove it. You know nothing of Andal, and you know little to nothing yet about what being an elf is. I have seen elves driven mad by power they didn't think would be dangerous. I've seen them destroy themselves in all sorts of manners for that reason. I watched a wizard incinerate himself becuase he said one word wrong in a self defense spell and felt that was the only way to stop the cold in his body."

His words were laced with venom, and his eyes never left arthur and he didn't even blink.

"How will you handle it when you get this wonderful little graft and a moment of ineptitude get you seeing the inside of your skull. or you see vision of things a mortal was never meant to see. Elves spend decades mastering thier innate power. some even centuries. But let me guess, since you reyepatch disappeared what? a day ago?...you heard there was a method to use a magical graft to restore you sight, and that's all you heard and jumped at the opportunity. You once again fail to think things entirely through, or thier impact on things around you."

standing up fully, crossing his arms lightly.

"You've been blind in that eye for decades. your body has completely reorganized itself to adapt to the loss of one eye. your fighting styles, your movements, they way you bathe, the way you walk, the way you percieve things are based entirely in your brain on the fact you have only one eye. It will take weeks, months, and possibly years, to be as skilled in the sword again as you are right now, for you to walk and function properly again with sight restored to both your eyes. This is not like giving a amputee a new leg. this is a part of you that links directly into your brain."

And a look to Isle.

"and you are in no condition to be trying to escort him anywhere in the first place. I'll be surprised if you can even walk tomorrow without help or a walking staff."

then back to Arthur.

"You want to go, you better damned well prove it. and not with words. I'm not letting you go the way you are right now. you have no self-motivation, you have very little actual pride, and you slack every chance you get. you owe Sevilin right now everything you will ever have and everything you own because Sevilin requested a boon that he can call in at anytime for anything. and yet you won't even insist on him training you like he agreed. You never set foot in the arena to train yourself in the sword without my forcing you to do so."

"You claimed you wanted to be some great swordsman at one time, and here you are, not bothering to test and improve your skill without my whip at your back. You had a grand goal of besting me in combat, and you can barely even move me. Why? because you won't do what you need to do to be able to move me."

Before sitting back down, though keeping his hands on the table. probably more to keep them from harming him than anything else.

"And you think your words are going to convince me you are mentally and physically prepared to have a magical device permanently grafted into your face. And you have until Kieran decides to go back to Andal, or at the very latest, till Isle decides to go back, to convince me that you are capable. I'll let you figure out how to do that."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 18, 2007 6:27 pm

Alright now what the hell was that? He gotten mad he would admit that but he decided to be nice and explain his way about it as best as he can and for that he gotten torn by Malik for it, pushing at him for having no pride and not knowing what it's like to be an elf. Of course he ignored when little Z entered the room and shattered the glasses, so he sat there as calm as he could be while Malik just went on pointing out everything about him in front of everyone, now Isle could understand why he didn't want to say anything in front of him. "If you have been in my place then you understand how important this is to me, this is a part of me that's been lost and I thought that could never be brought back again; there are days were I'm sick of seeing that damn eyepatch on my face and every single day there is not a moment where I think about what had happened to me that day I lost it and now finally get the chance I've been wanting for so long. That's why I threw away the eyepatch, it was a moment where I thought that I can get rid of the stupid thing from my face and walk around with both eyes open and be happy."

A hard glare was given to the drow when he spoke of him failing to think things through, he would give the drow that but gods damn it leave him be about it! "So what if I failed to think things through? Not everyone does Malik and I bet there were moments in your long life where you didn't hesitate and think of what may happen later on! I was way to happy to think of the effects it may have on me but now that I've been thinking it over ever since it did cross my mind that there maybe things I would have to get use to again. That includes my sword skills as well, sometimes I've known people that train so they didn't have to use their full vision and even when they kept their sight blocked it's not they stopped training with both eyes. I am willing to relearn everything, form the beginning to where I am now."

Arthur then sighed and pinch the brow of his nose as Malik went off to Isle, the drow was right he did slack in his training and had to be pushed to do it but did he watch him when he was at his house? Well of course not he made it clear that he didn't want to drow watching him inside his house; He took a few hours to train in his sword, dagger, and magic as best he could and even tried to do new moves. But still he had to train more and he has been slacking the past few weeks which was bad so he knew he had to get it going again. Though when he heard Malik talking to him about not training he paused and glared at the drow, so he deiced to tell him. "I don't train? I do train Malik but you don't see me do it because I also do it at home! I don't allow you to see what goes on in there because it's my own personal business but I do take a few hours to go through things over again. It's only now that since you have been forced to take a vacation that I've slacked because I've been wanting to relax for now."

But when the drow brought up Sevilin again he shook his head. "Listen when Sevilin asks me to fulfill a request for him I'll do it. But with training though we have stopped that doesn't mean I wont pick it up again, I put it aside to do some of my own sword studies but also Zahara has trained me in using a dagger so I had to incorporate that with my skills already so magic was put aside though it hasn't been forgotten."

Though he got a little pissed when Malik said he couldn't move him, Arthur had gotten a few good blows on him before! "Hey don't say I never moved you Malik! In the last fight I had gotten you a few good times with my sword and even brought you down on your back! so don't say I never done nothing at all to you." Though he should of said. "Hey why don't you ask your son to see if I’m right about that?" Since he was there when they fought, but that would put the spotlight on the little guy and didn't want him to get bugged by Piper. "But the reason why you 'force' me to go train in the arena is because everyday when I come here I know that I will be training so I wait for you to tell me to go down to the arena and put me against what you want me to face, I do have motivation Malik I use it for other things when I'm not around."

But when Malik said he had until Kieran and Isle leaves he got really pissed off at him. How in the whole Underdark can he show that he is ready to go to the surface in just a few damn days!? He's been calm until now but this was it. Growling the elf looking like he was going to throw something at Malik but didn't move. "Fine then you want to be that way then go ahead!" Pushing back his seat hard Arthur stood up and walked to the door of the dining hall, he didn't want to be in the same room with Malik now because if he was around him for one more insult or some damn judgement call he would get really angry. But what upset him the most was that even though he does training with Malik he also does other little thing for him as well! Like he worked in the tunnel that he was building awhile ago, as worked around the house for him, he even still hasn't gotten him back for the whole Laudi phase three years ago. Though Arthur knew that one day, some how he'll get Malik for all the s**t he has done to him, he just needs to wait.

So in a moment Arthur was gone, though where did he go? Well since he didn't want to stand being in their home he went outside got Brahnel and took off to his own house, once there he got off and went inside; he hasn't had a bath in awhile and felt like getting one before training.

Yep, Malik was looking at this from all angles and not missing a single thing now was he? Then again that was Malik's way and she honestly expected nothing less from him. Piper merely gave a sigh adn let it go, monitoring the children at the moment. But Malik took the compromising way out, not tell Arthur no just yet, but giving him a chance to prove he was ready to be given permission to do what he wanted to do. That was probably about as close as he was going to get to a yes right now from Malik D'vinn. With Arthur's departure, she merely tapped her nails on the table...well...Piper have one of those long suffering sighs.

Kieran merely watched the exchange once more. Okay, Malik won, he had his point made and made sense. Even Kieran was likely to say no on those points made. He shook his head as Arthur again appeared to barb at Malik before he decided to leave thier prescense. But he cleared his throat and turned his look to Isleandra. "So...are you going back with me anyway?"

She frowned. "I resent that statement, don't flatter yourself Malik. I'm tougher than I look." In fact, now she was going to have to buck up and take no one's help tomorrow, just to make a point to him. Rolling her eyes slightly but not really saying anything else about the matter at hand. Hell, Malik had a good arguement, that couldn't be denied. Though she did blink as Galesen just up and left. But a look to Kieran at his question. "No, I think I want to stay down here a bit more...spend some more time with Piper and trapse around the Depths some more. It's a new adventure for me."

She'd had no idea that he had gone through so much and hell it all made sense now didn't it? She hated men, he hated surface elves and for the very same reason. But they didn't. She didn't hate him and she knew he didn't hate Piper, not really. He...tolerated her. She listened quietly and shook her head, "Betrayal. And I thought surface elves were above it. I guess when it comes to drow they can't help themselves. Even good intentions come out wrong." She sighed softly. "Anytime you consider me intruding just say the word and I'll stop. Or if you have any questions, fair is fair after all."

Lharika took the fork and had a few more little bites before handing it back. "Truthful. That's a good thing to be...but I think he hurt Galesen's feelings. Isle might get mad," Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. "She likes him you know." Thus handing back his fork as she watched him storm out. "He leaves like Grandpa does."

"He has a lot more to learn about life. Arthur spent far too many years living with humans. he's just as bad as they are, instant gratification. if it's there, go after it and damn the consequences until they come up. Though it will be interesting to see what he might attempt in the next few days to earn his surface trip."

Though taking back to eating, and noting Zykariel.

"Will have to work more on your control. I'll let your teacher know so he can help you with that. if you want something, there's some in the kitchen that we're eating. goes for you too Lharika."

then back to Isle.

"Tough as you may be, the banshee aura is not something you shake off in a day. I speak from experience. I once punched my teacher for making a joke while he had it on. my arm didn't work right for three days. and you took a hit with your leg."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 18, 2007 7:51 pm

"Told you they weren't." He was merely taking the conversation in stride...maybe it was from being all down and out after his little mishap that had him under a watchful healers gaze. He'd probably be training right now if she wasn't there to distract him. "Yes well, he got his." A little nod to that as he lightly leaned his head against hers, giving a light sigh. "It's alright. Young elves tend to be curious. Not that anything I have to tell is horribly exciting."

"Does she now?" Okay, Kieran had to give a chuckle at the comparison Lharika made between Arthur and Ahkallyn. "No I still think Ahkallyn wins for the elf best able to leave a room with feathers ruffled." Turning his look to Malik then as he took his fork back at the same time. "Young elves, they're eager." Well...come young elves. His own daughter was a prime example of one who wasn't in all areas. "I think he thinks you're against him no matter what he does."

Isle blinked. "Yes, but I still take pride in breaking your nose and your knee in the process. So if I can't walk tomorrow, I shall drag myself around with one arm and one leg working, but I will do it." Giving one of those Isle smiles of hers that said she was ready to rise to a challenge and indeed was going to take it and do her best.

Well, it seemed that daddy wasn't that mad anymore, which mean he reached for his fork again and took about downing the rest of his food on his plate. Though he did look over to his friend who was resting on the table somewhat, tilting his head with that little worried look. "Maybe you should lay down?"

Piper was still tending to Zykariel a little, still petting at his back. Poor little guy. "Do you want me to get you some Zykariel?" Yup, still treating him as if he were her own, despite what Zahara had said about being his mother. Trying to one up the woman? Of course not, her motherly instincts just made her take care of the child who needed it while his own parents weren't in the immediate area.

Arthur was pissed off, even a nice soak in the tub wasn't going to calm him down; he has done so much for that damn drow and when it comes for him to get something he's been hoping for all of his bad points get pulled out into the open. "Damn drow..." He muttered and growled a little but noticed that the water was moving a little. "Uh oh..." Luckily for him he was able to cool down before he could of done something stupid. Sighing lightly the elf at back and closed his eye, though even forcing himself to relax wasn't going to help. "Gods damn him!" He shouted in anger and in retaliation some of the water in his bathtub shot up like a geyser before landing back inside it. "I gotta take my anger out on someone else..." He muttered and got out of the tub, drying himself off before heading to his room to change.

Once he walked out of his room he looked around his house and sighed, three days, three damn days was all he got, well that wont be enough and that drow thinks this is such a big deal. "Making me look like crap..." He muttered and growled a little as his hand turned into fist. walking over to his table the elf sat down in his chair and took another deep breath, but suddenly in a loud yell he slammed his fist onto the table which in turn spilt into two because of the magic he didn't know that was focused in his hand. "Damn Malik..." He muttered and sighed as he stood up again looking at what use to be his table. Though right at that moment he remembered about Zahara and the whole fight, he needed to talk to her about that. So he grabbed his horse and headed back to Twilight, staying far away from Malik and asking a serf where Zahara was, once he got the information he needed he headed to Sevilin's room and paused before knocking on the door.

"Hey Zahara, it's me can you come out here? I want to talk to you about something." Well it's been two weeks since they've seen each other and Arthur had sometime to think about what he said to her, might as well get this done with unless he wants to just keep her away from him for the rest of his life.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 18, 2007 8:15 pm

She was content to just sit her with him, his head resting against hers and her head nestled against him, and soak up the silence if it came to that. It wasn't a hardship to be with him. SHe didn't feel the need to chatter endlessly to keep it from being quiet. Sometimes the silence scared her when she was with Arthur. There was too much that she wasn't saying, too much she was holding back and he would give her that look that terrified her. He called her love and beautiful and told her how wonderful she was and that was all fine. But something wasn't right. "I'm not that young..." Even though she was. "May not be exciting but it is you, Sevilin. I get to know you through what you tell me...and what you hold back." She blew out a sigh as Arthur knocked on the door. Did she really want to move? No. "Just come on in, Arthur. Door's open."

Zykariel shook his head and whimpered softly. "No...I don't think I could eat right now if I wanted to..." Malikhai's idea was starting to sound good though right now he didn't even want to move. He squirmed a bit, snuggling slightly closer to Piper's soothing nails scratching up and down his back and sighed. "I hate it when it happens."

"Nope, I'm just gonna keep stealing what's on Daddy Kieran's plate. Thank you though Malik." She giggled softly and looked at her father, "Grandpa wins..you know Daddy Kieran, maybe if you told him that he might be happier with you?"

It was nice to not have awkward silences...though this was odd in itself. Had they ever sat around together like this? Not that he could recall...Zahara always kept herself distant. But with what was going on right now he supposed it was possible to expect things were as such. He closed his eyes, letting himself just feel that comfortable atmosphere that was then duely interrupted by knocking and Arthur. Blood red eyes opened and moved to the door. "Need something?"

Piper held in a sigh...well no rest for those who were in charge of the house at the time, namely her. Setting her fork down she pushed away her plate and stood, picking Zykariel up from his chair and holding him. She could watch him while she broke into the desk and go ther accounts that Malik oh so nicely locked away. A look to Malik. "I'll be upstairs with the kids." Thus walking to him, kissing his cheek in passing before holding out a hand to Malikhai. "You too, you have studying to do." Sure she loved taking care of the kids but she was going to need one of those Piper days. Waiting for her son to slid from his chair and take his hand, taking both boys upstairs to her own room, plopping both on the bed settling Zykariel, giving Malikhai one of his study books and heading to the desk to pick the lock.

He shook his head and tapped Lharika's nose. "You never say someone is right when they are wrong, even if it is to make them happy. Bad things can only come of that later and if someone thinks they are right, when they're blatantly wrong, it only bothers them more when they do indeed find out. Remember that."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 18, 2007 8:45 pm

Arthur opened the door and mentally cursed himself when he saw Sevilin, he had enough courage to come face Zahara but to have the topic of the fight sitting there as well was going to bug him a lot. So he made his way inside and paused a bit, placing his hands in his pockets like he always did when trying to relax. "Well I would like to speak to Zahara alone but since that may not be an option I might as well say it." Looking at the drow he took a small breath and paused for a moment before speaking. "I just came here to apologize for the fight we had a few weeks ago, it was your personal business and I shouldn't of dug so deep unless you were comfortable enough to talk to me about it; which the whole fight showed that you weren't. So I'm sorry for what had happened Zahara." Well unless she wanted to get him to apologize even more for what h had said she can go ahead, he wanted to get this bad rift between them gone and over with and just be friends.
