Hey Pasta
That's true, I suppose, although my world doesn't include their message board...just Gaia. ;o
And I can see why you guys are upset about her voice, because it isn't anything like Tarja's voice - and her voice was a really key part of the whole sound of Nightwish.
But I don't know. *shrug* Maybe Anette won't be that bad.
It's not just that it's different, although it does piss me off. They blast Tarja for being "too commercial" with her beautful operatic voice and then go get some common pop-rock singer? Yeah, that makes sense.
But she cannot carry a heavy song. Of the samples I've heard, Eva is the only one where her voice sounds decent. The others... God, I could kill her for what she did to "Seven Days to the Wolves." Such an amazing intro... and then *screeeeeeeeeeeech*. The song didn't recover until Marco took over.
Every time she tries to sing heavy... it comes out like a wail. And not a good, heavy metal wail. An "I'm dying, please get me to the hospital" wail. And even with her wailing... the bass overpowers her voice completely. In "Master Passion Greed," even the back-up singers are more prominent.
I think Tuomos obviously had a problem with Tarja being a figurehead for the band, and he purposely chose a singer who would never be capable of reaching a cult status at the expense of the music. All the while saying that "the music" is all that matters. rolleyes
