again, they could've meant anything, not those certain events specifically. it's like my mother says "the future isn't written in stone." there's no concrete evidence that the whole Mayan calender thing may be true. there have been theories that it's not the world's end, but perhaps a new era, or there were other calenders, but they were lost or they faded away through time. serious stuff happned last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, etc. stop worrying about the future so much, the end's not going to happen anytime soon.

Well, that's assuming you know which prophecies I'm thinking of, but... whatever. Like I said, I'm not going to go into the crazily specific stuff. You're right that the future isn't set in stone, but ignoring warning signs isn't good, either, when we have the chance to make a better future than the one we're faced with. You could even say a lot of science is prophecy considering we use it to measure future weather patterns and such. If someone tells you a huge, dangerous storm is coming, do you ignore it because the future isn't set in stone or do you gtfo? I'd probably gtfo even though I don't know for sure if the storm will hit my house or pass by harmlessly.

well, I don't really believe all that is true, but maybe we can consider it as an advantage, a chance to prepare ourselves for what is coming.

That's how I see it. I take the same approach with Global Warming stuff, too. I've always had the attitude of, "I dunno if I fully believe it's because of people or a natural cycle of the planet but... it never hurts to pollute less and be more environmentally friendly whether it's true or not. Better safe than sorry anyways. =u= "

don't really believe in that, but I strongly believe in living green. if we want to avoid any of that stuff, people will need to learn to use cars less, recycle more, etc. ^^; ugh, the whole "use cars less" thing won't happen, people are so lazy. I own a car, but I barely use it cuz my mom drives it for work, so I ride my bike to get to places.

I don't have a choice because I live so far away from places. There's a lot to be said about living in a moderate sized town, but easy access to public transportation or walking distance to necessities isn't one of them. I'm always trying to limit how much I drive, though, both for the sake of gas and emissions. I'm... still having a hard time with recycling, though. eue;;

It's embarrassing to admit, but I'm always stumped when I don't find the little "recyclable symbol" on the bottom of something. Even if it's a glass container I'll start worrying there might be a weird chemical in its composition that makes it dangerous to recycle for some reason. I once had a dream where my reckless recycling caused the recycling machine to explode because I put the wrong kind of plastic in there. Then no one could ever recycle again. XD

I understand. I live in a small town, so everything we need isn't so far away. I'm not upset, maybe if fewer people use cars, that can work too. Like using public transportation.

Yea, I'm like that too. ^^; When I go shopping with my mom, like for say a new washer, I make sure it has the Energy Star on it before buying it. It better be a good thing, or I'll go berserk that it doesn't really help anything. D:<

Aw man, a few days ago, you would not believe how angry I was. I witnesses someone shoot a a friendly rottweiler, just because he thought he was going to attack him. how many angry dogs wag their tails while running towards you? the good news is he wasn't killed and the guy was sent to jail, the bad news is the dog lost his leg.

Ugh, I wish we had a new washer... I'd also love to get some of those awesome windows that are better insulated so you don't have to use up as much energy keeping your house hot or cold! Sadly they're too expensive so we're stuck with our 1980s (or earlier) stuff which is pretty terrible and not up to my standards...

Holy s**t. Not long ago there were reports on the news about some dumb kids shooting dogs with arrows! One dog got shot through the leg and the other was killed because of them. The kids turned themselves in when they realized they'd killed one of the dogs which I guess was good and I'm glad they saw the error of their ways, but it still made me really mad they would even think to do something like that at all. This is the primary reason why I'm super opposed to parents giving kids ANY sort of weapon no matter how seemingly harmless it might be until they're old enough to responsibly understand the pain they can cause.

we've had trouble buying detergent cuz most of them weren't made for HE washers ^^;

oh god D': well, I'm glad they did the right thing, but how the hell did they get weapons?

I was so mad that poor innocent dog got shot, I even had thoughts of getting the gun and shooting the guy on the leg to see how he felt ;w; I know that's not a good thought, but he had no reason to do so. its just like the time a neighbor ran over and killed my cat. I told him what he did and, you won't believe what he said, he told me "It's just a cat, just get yourself another one." I would've called the police, but I had no evidence plus they won't do s**t if it was an accident. I really loved my cat.

What a jerk! Obviously he doesn't know what it's like to have a pet you love! They aren't like objects you can simply replace... Maybe they aren't people, but they have their own personalities and relationships, too. :/ But... In some ways I can sort of understand someone's position if they thought they were in danger for some reason. I know one time I almost smacked a dog with a stick because I thought it was trying to bite one of my baby cousins (it was my stupid cousin's fault for stealing its food... but I still would of hit it since he was so small at the time it really would be dangerous if a big dog grabbed him.) I admittedly probably over reacted at the time due to "mama bear" instincts. I felt a little bad afterwards since it wasn't the dog's fault my baby cousin is such an idiot.... ^^;

yea D:< Everyone in my neighborhood knows of the rottweiler, it wouldn't hurt a fly, all he's guilty of is knocking people down to give them sloppy kisses. This wasn't the first time the guy did something stupid, he got arrested for shooting at some kids for trespassing at his property, none got hurt, but still. how he got out from prison is the big mystery

How bad is Charlotte traffic? Is it like downtown/big city traffic? Is it comparable to LA or Sacramento at all? (has little point of reference beyond NorCal)

Guh; I suck in Debate... Four months and NO improvement in my skills whatsoever... Not that I perform terribly, mind you, but stagnation is depressing. emo

Not sure if the discussion was closed, but apocalyptic thinkers, in my opinion, are bogus. Most of the evidence says there will be no doomsday in our lifetimes.

Okay that's a lie, she came back of her own free will(though I asked her several times to come back before she actually did, but...)

sweatdrop I know... Life has just gotten in the way of... every thing... First it was dress rehearsals for my school's play... The nit was the actual play (And the afterparty sweatdrop )... then it was my stepmom being a b***h and not letting me get on for more than a few minutes...

But I'm here now!
