The problem is that it might not be the "end of the world," but it could mark the beginning of something big. I'm not sure if I hope for it to be or not. There's always this little part of me that wants something exciting and paranormal to happen, but if it really was the end of the world... that'd be bad.

I'm not going to go into the details because then I might sound like some crazy conspiracy theory person, but it's kind of hard to ignore all the evidence no matter how skeptical you might be starting out. I don't know if I fully believe a lot of them myself. Still, I can't ignore it when there's a lot of claims (especially the more recent ones) which have eerily sound logic and evidence to support them. =u=; I think my greatest fear as far as conspiracy theory stuff goes is that some of the 9/11 conspiracies might actually be true (or at least fractions of them) and 50 years from now historians will look back and be like "What a bunch of morons. The truth was right under their noses all along and they refused to see it... e_e;" like so many other things we roll our eyes at about our ancestors... Studying history has taught me that some of the most bizarre things wind up being true even if the public opinion of that era never accepts or sees it that way. I'm a little scared what historians in the future will write about our generation. XD

A new millennium it must mean the end of the world. And the Myens used math for their conclusion. and even predicted the down fall of their own empire. Whos to say that can't happen again? Sure everyone ether wants to beleve they will see the end, or that they will never see the end. It's just how we are. I know there have been many end of days predictions. And if you think about it rasonaly. Everything HAS to come to an end. The question is when. Maybe it will be Dec. 21 2012, maybe it will be 4212? Who knows... I do believe the Myens but I wouldn't mind in the least if they were wrong. XD again, they could've meant anything, not those certain events specifically. it's like my mother says "the future isn't written in stone." there's no concrete evidence that the whole Mayan calender thing may be true. there have been theories that it's not the world's end, but perhaps a new era, or there were other calenders, but they were lost or they faded away through time. serious stuff happned last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, etc. stop worrying about the future so much, the end's not going to happen anytime soon.

Well, that's assuming you know which prophecies I'm thinking of, but... whatever. Like I said, I'm not going to go into the crazily specific stuff. You're right that the future isn't set in stone, but ignoring warning signs isn't good, either, when we have the chance to make a better future than the one we're faced with. You could even say a lot of science is prophecy considering we use it to measure future weather patterns and such. If someone tells you a huge, dangerous storm is coming, do you ignore it because the future isn't set in stone or do you gtfo? I'd probably gtfo even though I don't know for sure if the storm will hit my house or pass by harmlessly.
