"I wish I knew. My second mate, Felicity, never really liked my most recent mate, Cassidy. Cassidy was what drove a wedge between me and Felicity in the first place you see. Then shortly after that Felicity just left I think. I heard nothing and as far as I know neither has Vickilyn. Now Cassidy has gone, again there has been no word left behind to inform me of anything. Just silence... cold crule silence. Cassidy has been gone for over two months now, Felicity has been gone longer." Shadow said, the memories of everything they had all been through, the good and bad time. They where all there.

Maxine watched him and listen intently, "Did you love them? your mates, that is?"
She then thought slowly about what she just said, "I'm sorry, I'm asking too many questions, aren't I?"

Shadow eyes where fixed ont he ground as he walked and thought. "Yes, I loved them all deeply. I loved each one of them, that is what makes thier disapearances so hard for me. Atleast I didn't have to watch them die though, I am greatful for that one but none of it matters anymore. They are all gone now." Shadow said as he pulled a cig out of his pocket and lit it. "You are not asking to many questions, not at all. Some subjects are just harder to bring up than others, nothing more."

Shadow pulled the pack out from his pocket and held them out for Maxine to take one. "The youngest was... 18 I beleive and a little bit crazy. Sired her to save her life in the end..."

Maxine takes one and looks around forgetting she left her lighter in her room they had put her in earlier. She sighed, 'Damn, always forgetting something lately.' she thought.

Shadow put the pack back in his pocket and pulled out his lighter, ofering it to Maxine. "Anymore questions about my personal life?" SHadow asked half joking as he took a long draw from his cig.

He had only just realised that he was taking the very long rout back to the mansion instead of the straight forward rout.

"There is no real intusion. I don't mind it most of the time." Shadow said as the mansion started to come into veiw. "Not much too tell about yourself? That is a rare thing for people who visit the manor, they have usualy had troubled or eventful pasts."

Maxine smiled a small smile, "How is it so rare? I have problems and I have a past, just not a past that anyone would really be interested in, that I know of."
She took another puff from her cig and began levitating some of the leaves from the ground as they walked. She then let the leaves drop and began levitating his lighter out of his pocket just to see what he would do about it. She laughed while entertaining herself.

"Most peoles past involves a great amount of pain, usualy from a parent or they are out for revenge against someone that harmed themor thier friends in some way. Those are the usual stories we get here. Someone saying that thier life wouldn't really be intresting is... refreshing." Shadow said as he tossed his cig away after taking the last draw from it. Shadow felt his lighter moving in his pocket and so grabbed it before it got too far off. "Thanks, I was just going for that." he said as he looked to Maxine with a smile and laughed a little.

Shadow looked at his lighter for a moment then back up to the backwards walking Maxine. "I like the way it looks?" Shadow said, trying to give atleast some reason. "Why are you walking backwards? The trees can be quite malicious if you don't look where you are going." Shadow joked.
