Emmanuela Hello my fellow clarinets! I'm in my last year of school, and I've been playing for five years! I'm in my school orchestra (first chair there^_^) as well as the regional orchestra! Today in music lesson I spent a productive hour practicing my clarinet, which was the most productive hour I've spent all dayXD Is anyone else taking ABRSM grade seven? Quote: are they? im just starting high school still playing clarinet... but i play more than that... anyway, i remember in our school, we have NYSSMA competitions and i was first clarinet... the only 8th grade 1st clari thank you!!!... and there were notes i didnt even know existed before... it was mad crazy!!! Oh, I hate finding notes and not knowing what they are! It's so unfair, in one of my grade seven pieces there's a four octave jump and I don't know the top note, I think it's A-flat or something>.< oh, i know... it sucks... AND when i finally learned the note, i found out we had to play it ten times faster then i could... so i ended up faking... the whole thing sounded horrible anyway... my friend bought the CD.

I didn't make it into the marching band this year yet it's my first year in marching band. I plan on challenging someone. i've been practicing very hard. im not new... ive just never written in here... so yeah i am kind of new... o well!!! i play clari too... nice to meet you!!! 4laugh our school does marching band only for i think its president's day or something... anyway, ive never been able to do it because im always gone... all the kids who have to do it say its horrible... so i mock them just to be mean... im not usually mean its just fun to act like that when your friends know you love them blaugh ... wow youre planning on challenging someone... we dont do that in our school... its just not that big a deal for us... i dunno?

Hello all you clarinet people.
I am a horn player who recently dug up my mom's old clarinet. Though in somewhat questionable condition (missing pads, etc), I have decided that it would be really cool if I could get it fixed up and try to play it. I'd probably not have lessons or play in a band, so I was wondering what's a cheap reed that's easy to start on and could stand up to a clueless brass player. (Even plastic ones would do...)
Thanks.

How often do they break? If they're much more expensive than ricos then I can't afford them.
What is a plastic reed anyway?
Arg. Can't get anyone IRL to tell me this, so I'm clueless O_o

Yey. My freind might be giving me a box of 2 1/2's cause she uses 3's now.
All that's left is to convince my mom I won't fail scool if I try to play the clarinet. And get it fixed.
I mean, come on? It's not like I'd be taking real lessons or something... This is just a weird brass-player curiosity thing D=

Can't get anyone IRL to tell me this, so I'm clueless O_o Plastic reeds are...well, plastic in the shape of reeds sweatdrop They're good for marching band and people who are prone to chip their reeds often, but the sound leaves something to be desired. (Read: awful.) wink Lauren has a plastic reed that looks like a normal reed...we didn't believe it was a plastic reed until we touched it. "Hey! It's smooth! surprised "
