*A slight blush appears on her cheeks at Synge's compliment and she nods a thanks. She nods again to Ksi and dissapears through the kitchen door. Within minutes you hear drawers opening and closing, pans being moved and the various other sounds involved with washing and slicing fruit, and making pancakes. After a bit she reappears carrying a try with two each of forks, butter knives, napkins, glasses of orange juice, and the plates of pancakes topped with fruit and whipped cream. She sets one of each in front of Ksi, and the other ones at her own seat.*
"Woud anyone else like anything?"

Ksi Yes, it’s turning out to be a fine morning so far. I am indeed looking forward to the delicious breakfast soon to come, and then some training thereafter. He spoke with a bit more cheer than usual. He’s a fairly soft spoken man, unless he’s angry, so different inflections in his voice go easily noticed. When Tiax rolls off the couch, he glances over and then chuckles. Heh, that man could probably sleep through a hurricane, and probably has.

But then again once you know perhaps you can go back to what you had, which if it's a good life you wouldn't be sad, no?" *She shifts her position and crosses her left leg over her right.* Ksi He looks at Joey, and offers his hand. My name is Ksi, as you’ve heard. I’m a good friend of the owner's. I can relate to your situation in more ways then one, actually. Not only do I have all manner of psionic abilities, among other things, but I’ve also had amnesia before. It can be a very unpleasant and confusing situation. He pauses for a second, to add emphasis. Now, I’m not trying to make light of this issue, but if you want...I can bring back your memory. It probably won’t be easy for either of us, but I’m sure it’s possible. By that same token, it’d be best if you take a moment to consider this, before you answer. For some people, they just have to know, and if they aren’t cured, then likely that if they have something that they truly need to remember, they eventually will. However, for some others, there are things they don’t want to remember, and maybe even intentionally blocked out the memories. So just think about it for a moment, and feel it out. The answer should come to you.

Ksi turns his attention to Joey, once he responded, and then nods in understanding.

Seeing the food that Nikki has now brought out, his eyes light up.
Oh, this looks delicious!
Ksi begins to prepare himself to dig into the hearty breakfast, placing things as he likes them, and getting his utensils ready.
Thanks for breakfast, Nikki.
He then begins to happily partake of the nice breakfast he has been given.

Having finished his meal, Ksi drinks the rest of his juice and then makes a light sigh of contentment. He then wipes his mouth and stands to stretch after such a good meal. Snapping his fingers, his plates and dirty utensils all disappear from the counter. Most likely they were returned to where they belonged, as clean as ever. Turning on his heels, he looks at Synge.
So, are you about ready to begin my first lesson in sword combat?
He looks the young woman over a couple of times, almost as if checking her out. He truly does take in the shape and tone of her body. The look on his face is a bit questioning though, not lecherous by any means. It were as if, he were actually sizing her up, wondering what she was already capable of, as it were.

So, the first thing I need to ask you, Synge, is whether or not you’ve had any previous experience handling a sword? More specifically, I use a katana, so I hope that’s to your liking. I could train you on how to use other types of swords, but this is what I’m most comfortable with. Your choice really.

Hm, alright. I figured as much. That’s not a problem at all. It just means we’ll be starting from square one. Training, and even more so sparing, can be pretty fun. However, I don’t know if you’ve ever played any sports or not, but this’ll be similar to that. In the fact that the beginning is all about learning, and building your body, so it can be a bit menial and boring. Although, if you’re serious about this, then you’ll need to stick with it. Eventually we’ll get to the fun stuff, and you’ll be a lethal killing machine before you know it.
Ksi pauses for a moment, as if to let his words dissolve into the atmosphere.
For that is what swordsmanship is truly about. However, hopefully you never have to actually defend yourself in combat. For now, think of it as a hobby, if you prefer. Okay, lesson one. What I’ll be teaching you is known as kenjutsu, Shin Ten Ryu to be specific, but we’ll just refer to it as swordsmanship. Now, swordsmanship is half physical combat, and half mental combat. We’ll address this subject more later. Right now I want to focus on the physical aspect. It’s all about skill and hard work. In swordsmanship, how you move your feet, your footwork, is just as important as how you move your hands and arms.
He taps the toe of his right boot on the ground and then steps forward with his left foot, and then immediately steps back with his right foot, to help illustrate his point.
Now, with this in mind, the first thing I want to show you is the Over-Head Slash. We’ll be working on the key essentials here, the basics. Hm, you’re going to need a bokutou for this.
Ksi snaps his fingers and a wooden katana shaped sword appears in the air before Synge, and just floats there, waiting for her to take it up. He then draws his own sword, a katana of ethereal craftsmanship, Seiken. He turns to the side, to give Synge a profile of his stance.
Take the sword and hold it like this, with the edge facing out away from you, and the tip of the blade pointing upward. Right hand, or dominant hand over your other hand. Not too close together though, it’s not a baseball bat. Now hold it firmly, but keep your fingers relaxed, comfortable. Your index finger and thumb are the ones you really want to hold the hilt with. From your middle finger to your pinky, each finger should be looser on the hold than the previous. In fact your pinky should barely be touching the hilt. This allows you to pivot the sword in your hands better. Use your index finger and thumb as the main fulcrum and keep your other fingers mostly loose, so the hilt can shift naturally. Essentially the point is to make the sword an extension of your body. Okay, now with that hold I described, lift the sword over your head like so.
Demonstrating how he’s holding the hilt, he then arcs the blade over his head, facing the edge of the blade towards the sky. The blade catches the light, and gives off a fine sheen as he does this.
Then step forward with your left foot and bring the blade arcing downward. The point is actually to cut, not render or sunder, like with larger western swords.
Ksi performs the motion several times, to give Synge a good idea of how he’s doing it. He simply brings the blade up over his head, then steps forward with his left foot, and slices the sword back down at the same time. This puts him in position to perform the motion again. After walking a few feet performing the maneuver, he stops and sheaths his blade with lighting speed.
Keep in mind that I never crossed my feet over. It’s important to lead with your left foot each time. Go on, give it a try. Do it a few times like I did, until you get the feel of it. Let it come naturally.
