Valleria was enjoying her now cold coffee, she can’t stand hot weather and especially hot drinks so this was perfect for her, she bit down on her muffin as someone approached her, asking if he could join her “oh amm… sure. There isn’t much place for you to sit so go for it” she answered and cleaned herself a little, the muffin was quite delicious but very crumbly and as she finished whipping her face she noticed a large amount of muffing on his trey “are you going to eat all of it yourself? Or are you waiting for someone to join you?” she asked curiously, if he was waiting for someone she would have probably left the table to give them some privacy but if he was eating all of this alone… it would definitely surprise her for the number of sweets this guy can eat.
                                                                      User Image

Seth smiled when she gave him permission to join her. He was glad she didn’t mind. It seemed everywhere was full and even though he didn’t know her, he was never against meeting new people. "Thank you so much." he said with a happy smile on his lips. The young man walked closer to the table now that he got a yes and placed down the tray, before sitting down. He still made sure not to get in the lady’s way though. As he was taking the coffee off the tray so he could put the tray with the muffins aside a bit more he listened as she spoke and he couldn’t help but chuckle a little as he looked at all the muffins. "I got it for myself. I may have underestimated the amount of flavors when I asked for one of each..." he started as he looked from the tray back to the one before him.

"If my manager knew, he would definitely be trying to stop it, so let’s keep this our little secret." he added with a playful wink. What he had forgotten though, was that he was not alone at all. The bodyguard his manager had hired was still shadowing him, but they did from a larger distance this time. He had learned from that one time where the violinist had snuck out of his grasp when he had his back turned for only a few seconds, he wouldn’t fail his charge again! Unwilling as this ‘charge’ was. The man was sitting a slight distance away, outside on the terrace after ordering a coffee for himself. Seth was oblivious to this, as he was more concerned with his muffins and his present company.

The bodyguard did glance at the tray with a frown of disapproval, knowing what the manager would think, but he decided not to rat the kid out, this time. Instead he took a book from his pocket and pretended to read it while keeping an eye on Seth and this lady he didn’t know. Inside the cafe, Seth had placed the tray with muffins to the side, so he could see the other at the table with him. "Feel free to grab some if you want. I don’t mind." he offered and smiled. He never minded sharing, especially after his life while growing up. Sharing was survival back then. First though, he decided to sate his curiosity to this...coffee he heard people about. If anything that was one of the drinks his manager kept him away from.

He took one sip before he nearly spit it out. He swallowed quickly and coughed a little at the bitterness. The young man was tempted to leave it at that, but when he noticed the milk and sugar nearby he quickly added that hoping it would taste better. It was perhaps a bit much sugar, but it took a while for the bitterness to be out of the drink. "How do people like this stuff without sugar in it? Yuck." he wondered out loud, it clearly being his first time trying the dark brew. It was something his manager never understood either, no matter how much Seth ate, he stayed slender and no matter how much sugar they ate, his teeth were in immaculate condition and he never had a cavity even once.

It often was contributed to Seth not being human. "I’m sorry, all this time I didn’t even introduce myself." the young man suddenly said as he looked across the table. That was really bad of him, usually he was more focused. "My name is Seth, Seth Tio’bre. I moved here a while ago, though I am not often at home. Do you live here in Soleil too?" he asked her curiously, his attention shifting to her fully. Who knew, if they did live in Soleil, perhaps they could be friends. His bodyguard listened to everything as well, though he kept his eyes on his books mostly, just glancing at the duo from time to time. If anyone would make a move to Seth, he would be ready.

Valleria simply nodded at Seth as he thanked her for letting him sit beside her, it’s not like he had much of a choice of where to sit anyways and she can’t hog a whole table for just a muffin and a cup of now ice coffee, she then listened as Seth told her he underestimated the number of flavors there are which made her chuckle a little “I was very surprised seeing it as well, I never knew so many flavors could be in one place”.

She then tilted her head as he mentioned something about his manager “your manager? Er… sure I guess I can keep it a secret, I don’t even know him anyways” she said in a bit of confusion, she was still getting used to the big city and didn’t really know anyone here yet famous or not, she would take another sip from her Ice coffee and created one extra ice cube just to let it stay cold. Seth then offered her to grab some if she wanted, she looked at the wide choice she had in front of her and picked up vanilla flavored one “thanks, I will only take this one” she gave him a small smile as she bit down on it, it was quite delicious compared to the one she bought. She then heard him complain about the coffee itself being bitter but… this could easily be fixed with sugar, something he did right after complaining so she didn’t say anything about it, she would take another sip from her own coffee and relax.
Valleria would then be taken a little off guard as he began introducing himself “o-oh, right introductions… My name is Valleria Teal, I too moved here not too long ago. About two weeks ago to be exact and I’m not quite used to this whole city thing… anyways it's nice meeting you” she said with a slight smile, he seemed like a nice guy despite how young he looked.
                                                                      User Image

Ah, a chuckle. That was a good sign. Seth smiled as he sat down at the table. She seemed confused with his talk about his manager though. Seth didn’t mind. It was probably better she didn’t know. "Thank you." he said cheerfully. The young man nodded when he offered her to just grab a muffin and she decided to accept. The water magi didn’t mind it, heck if she ended up eating half of the stack he still wouldn’t mind! He hadn’t missed her creating ice though and he smiled as he got it confirmed by seeing the ice cube forming. "That is a really cool trick with the ice. Are you an ice mage?" he asked curiously. He had heard about others like him, though his people were actually fully attuned to their element and weak to whatever the magic was weak to as well.

He tried his coffee real quick again now he had added milk and sugar. It still didn’t taste good to him so he pushed the cup out of the way. After making sure it wasn’t in either of their way he turned to the muffin treasure trove and picked out a strawberry one before he bit into it and smiled. "Oh, this tastes wonderful." he said after he swallowed his bite and leaned back in the chair as he looked around a bit. This place was quite unexpected, but Seth liked it. It didn’t take long before he focused back on his table companion though. It would be bad manners to get too distracted. He listened as she spoke of her name and moving here recently and nodded. "So you just arrived? Were you here...during Halloween?" he asked carefully as he suppressed a shiver. That experience still gave him goosebumps.

Well… at least half spirit” she would reply politely, even if she ever wanted to hide that fact it was impossible with those horns on her head and luckily in this city it appears to have many different kinds of people of all kinds of races, so she definitely didn’t have any reason to hide it.
She would then shake her head as Seth once again tried his coffee and still didn’t like it “coffee is not for everyone you know; it has a weird taste to it but I do like it” she said as she took a sip of her own, she would notice him taking a bite of his muffin and unlike the coffee, he was definitely enjoying himself, those muffins are indeed good “yes I moved in not too long ago. Halloween? No, I haven’t… w-why did you change your tone all of a sudden? Should I be worried about Halloween?” she asked a bit worried, she never did too well with spooky stuff even if she always tried to look cold and brave, but in reality, she could get spooked quite easily.
                                                                      User Image

Seth grinned a bit when she chuckled. He had indeed made the pun on purpose, though he was glad it was received well. Not everyone liked it after all. The young man nodded when she mentioned she was a half ice spirit. That did make sense. Having ice powers and such. "I’m a water magi. I can manipulate water." he explained and to illustrate his point he waved his hand and the coffee on the cup he had pushed aside moved upwards before forming the silhouette of a bear in the air. It took him quite some effort to keep the shape before he relented and allowed the coffee to sink back into the cup and sighed a bit. That had really tugged on his energy level. But perhaps with some practice? Nonetheless he smiled and chuckled a bit as he looked back at Valleria. "I never tried that with anything other than pure water, I had no idea it asks so much energy." he explained and rubbed the back of his head.

He nodded again when she spoke of the coffee. "Everyone I saw just seemed to love it so much, I felt like trying it out. But I don’t like it. It’s way to bitter, even with sugar." he agreed. As if they heard him, one of the people from the coffee shop came walking to the table with a plate with a fresh cup which he brought to the table where the two were seated. They placed the cup and a tea bag down on the table and smiled as they took the coffee. "This is free of charge, someone asked us to bring it to you. Enjoy." they said before walking off with the abandoned coffee. Seth frowned a bit in confusion before he looked at the cup. It had hot water in it and the bag that was next to it was strawberry flavored, his favorite.

"Well that is odd." he mumbled but he didn’t question it and just took the tea bag and dropped it in the hot water so it could mix into the actual tea. In truth the bodyguard had made sure to send over the tea, since he knew how much muffins the young man had acquired and they would need to drink. It wasn’t that Seth didn’t know this. He was well capable of living on his own like any other twenty year old, but he did tend to forget when he got too distracted. Seth himself was already focusing back on his current companion however and he listened to her after she replied to his question about Halloween. It sounded like they were newer here than the event. Seth hesitated for a moment and bit his lip as he wondered what to do. He didn’t want to scare her, or worse scare he off, but if she was living here perhaps it was better to be prepared in case it could happen again?

The young man took a deep breath as he made his decision, it was still tough to talk about for him. "Well, last Halloween something happened that unleashed a terrifying entity on this city, I believe they still don’t know what happened exactly. But this occurrence caused all sorts of weird things to happen. Zombies were roaming the city and anyone they attacked had their souls ripped away which ended up in the museum. Or that is what I heard happened to them. I was one of the victims and I do remember being at the museum where no one but those afflicted could see and hear me. In the end it all worked out, but it left a big impression. Personally I was having nightmares every night after and I couldn’t play my instrument for quite a while.

Others have also been negatively affected. I’m alright now, I think. I can play again and I am no longer haunted by nightmares every night, but I am definitely thinking differently about Halloween now."
he explained. He didn’t want her to worry too much though so he did his best to smile after half reliving all that just now. "B..but I’m sure they solved it now! The city is safe again, no worries about that!" he added. Truth be told, Seth still felt anxious a little whenever he walked over an empty street and if it was dark he did his best to not be outside at all anymore! But they seemed to have solved the problem of Halloween, as he didn’t hear anything about it anymore. This also reminded him about the bodyguard he had gotten appointed by his manager after the whole ordeal and Seth couldn’t help but look around. His gaze fell upon the man just outside, who quickly looked away and hid behind his book again, but the young musician had already spotted him. He shook his head a bit but he didn’t worry too much about it, though he did realize he never asked their name to his knowledge.

Then as one of the workers came in with a cup full of water and a tea bag placed it on their table Vall was a little confused, why was this cup brought to them? They clearly didn’t order it, but she would then nod as the person explained “indeed it is… why would someone just randomly buy you a cup of tea?” her head would tilt slightly in confusion but it seems like it didn’t bother Seth that much so Vall simply continued to sip her Coffee, making her cup half empty.
After asking about Halloween it took Seth too long to answer without her getting concerned slightly, was it really THAT bad?! She began to worry a little before he explained which… didn’t make it better “o-oh… that sounds quite b-bad… well, I know where I won’t be in the next Halloween” Valleria chuckled nervously before chugging all her coffee down, she did not handle spooks very well “at least it was solved I guess, I would have had to keep my bow around me at all times If it wasn’t”
                                                                      User Image

Seth listened to her as she did her best to explain why it took so much more energy for him. The young man had lessons from his father when he was younger but that had been such a long time ago, he didn’t remember if that ever came to topic. Granted, he ended up by himself really early in life, so his memories of his parents were muddled at best. When she finished he thought about it as he subconsciously placed a finger on his chin before he nodded and smiled at her again. "That sounds logical. You’re probably right. I can manipulate water, but only water." he agreed with her. It sounded about right and did correlate with his powers. These thoughts were gone when the tea was brought though.

Seth suddenly had a mysterious person sending him tea instead of the coffee he pushed aside. He had a faint idea who sent it, but he didn’t let it distract him overly much. His focus went back to Valleria instead when they spoke, albeit about the same subject and he shrugged. "It might have been my bodyguard, I did notice him sitting not far from us." he said to her, which caused the man nearby to look up a bit flustered. So they had noticed him. Max sighed a bit but then shook his head and lay down the book he had been supposedly reading. He didn’t approach them though, as it was best that anyone nearby who had bad intentions didn’t notice the man was on guard.

When Halloween came up though, Seth couldn’t help but shiver a little and it seemed like his impression left one on Val as well. Her voice was shaky all of a sudden and she seemed nervous. The young man nodded when she spoke about not being here. "I might do the same. Or at least make sure I am with my friends or so. I really don’t want to experience that again." he spoke with a light sigh. In a sense he had been dead for a while, since that was what they called it when you get separated from your body… It was a scary thought. Seth shook his head as if getting rid of the bad memories and took the bag out of his water now the tea was well dissolved. After a few scoops of sugar he took a sip and forced himself to calm down a little. "I hope so. This was really scary. It must have been solved!" he agreed with her. Seth placed down his cup and stretched out his hand and after some hesitation while deciding he took a muffin with chocolate from the plate and took a bite. Such foods too helped him to regain composure and he was sure glad to have both at his disposal right now. "Where did you come from?" he asked Valleria as a way to steer away from the creepy topic.

𝓢𝓪𝓼𝒽𝓪 𝓚𝒾𝓃𝑔
~ Call me King ~

To say the leisurely walk from the bookstore was calming would be a understatement; King continuing to pick Nicholai's brain about certain reptile facts, and generally chatting about what came to mind as they ventured to this new location, but the cool air and physical movement had done wonders to settle the very strong impulse that had almost gotten the better of her a short while ago. Never one to really question her wants or, frankly, even the opinions of others when it came to her choices the woman had struggled hard to behave herself when her companion had helped her avoid a collision earlier.. Thankfully the brisk air helped snap King back to her manners and their stroll had been quite relaxing even as she'd watched the man at her side curiously. He spoke as if from experience, his voice low and oddly comforting in the soft cadence that fluctuated as his thoughts shifted between bashful sharing and confident insights. In turn she'd shared a few things of herself, idle comments about some of her parkour routes through the town and how this was typically where she found her scaly friends out and about in warmer weather. Throughout the walk she'd noticed, every so slightly, that he seemed uncomfortable with the winter wind that lightly tussled their hair and misted their breath into view. It reminded her that normal people didn't have the same immunity she did.. and without thinking much of it, and perhaps subconsciously admitting she had enjoyed the contact earlier, King shifted closer to lightly lace her left arm around his at his elbow; Her hand resting lightly on his forearm to avoid hindering his hold upon his shopping bag. She'd been careful not to grasp his other arm which had been steadily directing his cane, both to respect his space and to avoid hindering his movements.

Comfortably settled King allowed a bit of her magic to stir under her skin, the soft glimmer of her tattoos along her exposed flesh hinting at the surge of energy as she allowed herself to share some of her unnatural heat with the man next to her in the hopes of easing some of his discomfort with the weather. The coffee shop was close, the patrons along the sidewalk likewise growing more frequent, and mindful not to clip anyone in passing King absently rested her free hand next to the other already resting on his arm as she pondered their banter. " Earlier you mentioned a.. Naja Cobra? Is that different than a King Cobra? I wonder if I could sketch one at some point." She'd thought that had been the name he'd mused into her ear but, admittedly, she'd been a bit distracted to really focus on his words at the time. It had struck her enough to stick with her however and the woman was curious if he'd elaborate.

As the two strolled down the sidewalk, their conversation light, but all worth learning about one another. He started to grow fond of this woman. truly, she was a marvel to behold. From what he was learning is how nimble she is when it came to her hobby of parkour, and what information she new about the reptiles in the area. It warmed his heart to know that she finds reptiles just as fascinating as he did, but perhaps it's also comforting to know that, should this friendship delve into something more, she won't be afraid of him. Well, at least that's the hope anyway. It was a nice thought anyways. As the crips cold air began to pick up, his bad knee began to buckle, and stiffen, making it harder to walk, and tolerate this cold weather. Nicholai slightly jerked to the sudden touch around his arm that held his bag. Soon to follow was this intense warmth that soon took over his body. He never wavered in his steps, and merely looked down to see King and moved in closer. Was she the one causing this heat? He began to wonder if she was human as she appeared to be, or if maybe she was something different, like him. Feeling this heat on his side did help comfort him, and ease the discomfort he was feeling. It made their stroll more tolerable without the worry of the cold weather stopping them from enjoying their time together. As they reached closer to their destination, more people were casually walking about, and he felt her lean in closer, his eyes moved to look down at her small frame. What a delicate thing she is. How cute. He thought to himself. But the pressure he felt, with her body being pressed against his arm, and side like this, was making it harder to tame the primal side within. He looked ahead with a small smile, hearing her ask about the different cobras.

Great save there king. he thought again. If he were to ponder on this primitive mind set, he may do something he would later regret. "Indeed there are different types of cobra." He started. Finally reaching to the cafe, Nicholai carefully removed his arm from king to hold the door open, and gently usher her inside. With the chimes at the top, signalling their entrance, her finally let out a sigh of relief. That wind was no joke! He thought to himself. Had she not been around, surely he would be asleep, or dead for the matter. Nicholai found an empty booth by the window, and decided to head that way to be seated. He carefully took off his long jacket, setting it nicely folded on to the cushion before sitting down himself. He carefully placed his can with his jacket as well. "Cobras are quite unique." He continued their conversation. "If you think them like most animals, for examples, the feline race. There, you have lions, panthers, tigers, house cats, but even in different names, and size, they are all felines. Same as birds too." He trailed off. "With cobras, they may look the same in shape, what with the snakes body, and hood, but each with their own unique scale pattern, and color. Some are even larger than other's." He added with a matter-of-fact tone of voice. "But as for the Naja Cobra's, they are more closer to medium size than anything, and even Naja cobra's have a variety as to type, such as; Naja ashei, Spitting cobra, Caspian, and so on." Pondering on that thought, he chuckled again. "Then again, almost all the cobra's are scientifically named as Naja, even if they arent of the Naja subspecies of cobra." He continued to chuckle.

~ Call me King ~

Following Nicholai through the interior of the Café King grasped the strap of her messenger bag and lifted it a little, ensuring the item rested neatly at her side on the booth's bench as she slid into her seat opposite of her companion's resting place. His explanation made sense and, though it troubled her to realize how she'd overlooked the notion, a part of her was also inspired by the idea of trying to capture different scale textures and patterns in her art work as he explained the differences between the types of Cobras in nature. " I've noticed that scientific names can be a bit odd at times but.. I guess it follows the idea of 'A rose by any other name', right? Being named for a family type doesn't really change the special traits of the individual snakes." It was a given that she had always tried to match any unique markings present on her sketch-target but... It had never dawned on her that the details could depend heavily on the animal's texture even when it came to such deceptively smooth creatures like serpents. Noting that one of the servers had glanced their way King lifted her hand with a friendly wave, letting the guy know that they were ready to order when next he was free. A lively wave answered her own and she smiled, her gaze sliding back to the man sitting across the table from her as the low noise drifted through the establishment. Off to the side the projector switched channels, something to do with the news that barely turned a few heads to mind it, and King found herself folding her hands together on the table's surface as if resisting the urge to fidget. It had been obvious outside too, but the more she really studied him the more she realized she might be in trouble. Dark, glossy hair and deep green eyes that sort of reminded her of Jades.. Her earlier word choice of 'handsome' fit very well. But that didn't hide the small signs of stress that had settled into his features as they'd walked through the chilled street and the girl wasn't a total fool. Humans were uncomfortable in the cold but this man seemed sincerely troubled by it. Perhaps she really was just that far removed from normal people or maybe he was a little odd himself. The words of her friend only a few nights ago returned to her mind and King bit her lip, admitting at least to herself that Nate's words made far more sense now than they had then. It didn't matter 'what' someone was, only 'who'.. right? So perhaps.. Nicholai wouldn't mind her being a Meta? Even if he did mind she felt it was a bit silly not to mention it considering she could ease at least a bit of his discomfort in using her abilities.

" Snakes, birds, cats.. Humans. They come in all kinds so.." Lifting her right hand into the space between them, palm down, she allowed a little surge of magic to ripple down her arm to light the tattoos so neatly woven across her skin; Allowing him to see the ink's reaction clearly as a small flare of heat fluctuated around them. " .. let me know if you get too cold, alright?" Her tone was gentle yet, for the first time, a bit more serious as well as she more or less confirmed his suspicions about her nature. There was no demand in her tone for him to return this level of personal information and, as she'd already shown herself to be quite easy going, she readily shifted the conversation away from the topic.. both to avoid making him feel pressured to reciprocate the information and to gloss over the fact that he was having a drink with someone that wasn't quite 'normal'. Many places wouldn't hire her because of her tattoos and just as many people judged her 'strange' for them, and honestly that was fine because she didn't need or want their opinions when the alternative to letting her fire run wild without the markings was much worse to consider. Yet oddly... Every time those green eyes of his shifted her way King felt the most unusual prickles of self awareness. Did the markings on her bother him? Was her hair a mess? A inward groan signaled the end of these petty musings and King dropped her hand to rest on the table where it had hovered, the markings fading back to the normal red hues as she forced her mind back on track. " I would laugh about 'having the hots' for you but terrible pun aside I do like you, so I'm paying for the drinks.~" While it was true she barely knew him King understood her feelings perfectly and as a result she shared them clearly, seeing no reason to beat around the bush about expressing her interest in getting to know him better. Aannnnddd she had said she would bribe him, so to make him pay when she herself asked him out? Even criminals had a limit of bad behavior.~

Seeing her wave down a server, he patiently waited. So far, their conversation has really got his mind going. He wondered what other reptiles she might have information on. He was already going through his mental archive of fun facts that he could tell. Perhaps stray away from just cobra facts, and onto water dragons, or maybe even the variety of geckos! Hearing her trail off on something about snakes, birds, cats and- He paused for a moment, and witnessed something beautiful. The tattoo's on her arms began to glow in this strange light, emitting the heat he had felt earlier. His eyes glistened with amazement at this power she wielded, and made him more curious as to what king is capable of but more so as to why? Why show him this trick? Why expose herself to the common folk like this? Looking around to see no one paying attention, how odd? How could they not? And yet, when he focused his attention back to her, feeling that lovely heat emitting from her, nothing else seemed to matter. It felt as though it was just them in this little cafe, and no one else was around. That in this very moment, it's just them.

He examined her facial expressions, and heard her comment that followed after. He couldn't help but let out a soft sigh, almost like a light chuckle or puff of air he was holding, and didn't know that he was, but the smile was there all the same. As the glow disburse and faded, Nicholai blinked to snap back into reality. So she was no different from him... He examined her more, and saw that there might have been some conflicting thoughts? But for her to expose herself like this, for him? It showed how brave she is, how King is willing to allow herself to be so vulnerable to him in this manner that- Her flirty comment made him chuckle some more, and he gently placed his left hand on top of her's. "Thank you, King." He spoke out in his calming tone of voice. Having been raised and been apart of the soviet army, exposing yourself wasn't allowed, being emotional wasn't allowed, having fought in countless battles, and wars that weren't even his, had dulled his senses to emotions. It took YEARS to get to where he is, and even now he struggles. "It means a lot to me for you to show me this ability of yours..." He closed his eyes for only a moment before looking back up to her with predatory eyes. Green, with black thin slips. "It's only fair I return the honesty." Without thinking, he laced his fingers in a very seductive motion between her own fingers. He enjoyed hearing the fact that she liked him. However, before he would even attempt at any more flirting, he retreated back, leaning against the cushion in the booth, and blinked quickly to return his eyes back to normal as the server approached. "A-Ah...Yes... I'll have Raspberry honey tea....with milk please......and 3 sugars....." He cleared his throat, and moved his attention back to King, with a small smirk, and a light wink.

The man didn't panic at either her show of magic nor her feelings and the tension that had unwittingly built knots in her stomach eased with relief as she watched a flurry of emotions pass over his expressive features. Shock, certainly... but awe? That wasn't expected and it earned that faint blush back to her features as if he'd offered her some sort of praise she couldn't quite put her finger on. The swift glance he cast around the area, as if worried others would see, earned an amused nose-crinkle from the girl as she weighed pointing out how odd this town was in general and that no one would likely find her quirks more interesting than their own quests for caffeine. But he had seemed genuinely excited and.. that touched her. He may be a little less thrilled to learn she could breathe fire but thaaaat was a hurdle for another time. That low chuckle of his earned a reflexive smile in response and when Nicholai sincerely thanked her, and the soothing pressure of his hand enveloped hers, King's gaze darkened to a soft caramel shade; The woman's tone returning to its typically playful cadence. " Partners in crime, right? I've got your back Nicholai." Sort of... She wouldn't point it out due to her own pride but for as short as she was next to him it would be a challenge she'd readily face to defend his 'six'.. but she could at least confidently guard that fine a- Nicholai's voice, this time traced with hints of hesitation, lured her focus back to reality to listen intently; King's slightly naughty and very ludic thoughts breaking off as her impish humor shifted into sincere curiosity. The stare that met hers was one familiar and yet slightly alien, those deep jade pools split by elegantly slanted pupils as they seemed to peer right through her and into her thoughts. There was a chord, somewhere in her chest, that tightened and for a moment King felt genuine concern as her pulse spiked and her eyes widened with surprise.. Though, from the deep cherry shade of the blush that worked over her features, it was clear her reaction wasn't one of fear for the man in front of her. She loved snakes, all reptiles and even amphibians for that matter, but she'd never once thought of them as anything but adorable and spunky animals. What then was the issue? Those eyes had been sexy as hell and the girl was desperately trying to figure out if this was some long-dormant kink she'd never been aware off. His fingers interlocked with her own, that soothing glide of contact rather intimate while stilling oddly reassuring and grounding for her as she closed her eyes and tried to get a grip on her thoughts. Okay... yes, it was new interest. But this man was hardly some innocent little danger-noodle, it didn't make her a pervert towards all cute little snakes to appreciate his serpentine appearance in a more mature way.. did it?

The comforting touch of his hand untangled form her grasp and King opened her eyes slightly, leaning forward to rest her chin on her left palm as she tilted her head towards the server that had come to speak with them... but her stare remained fixed on Nicholai under the thick dark fringe of her eyelashes as she mulled over the matter. His appearance had gone back to normal and, though by no means less striking, the girl was honestly a little disappointed she hadn't had time to really study his eyes in the midst of her inner revelation. Maybe... she didn't mind this new quirk, considering it only seemed to be the memory of 'his' eyes that were exciting. So he wasn't quite 'normal' himself, it wouldn't have bothered her in the least if he had been but a part of her was ecstatic too at the knowledge. The server cleared his throat softly and, realizing she'd been not so subtly staring at Nicholai with gods-only-knew what sort of enamored expression the woman jerked her attention the to other man and flashed an apologetic grin.. Owning up to her folly with a easy-going charm. " Airhead moment, I'm sorry. May I have a Chamomile tea with lemon please?" Sharing the laugh with her the Server went on his way with the orders and King sighed softly in relief, withdrawing her hand to rest it lightly on the table by her left elbow as she once again leaned her chin into the palm of her raised hand. King's index finger tapped her cheek lightly, the fiery shades of her hair falling down to obscure her right eye from view as she noted her companion had retreated back to his side of the booth after letting go of her hand. It had to have been difficult for him to share that with her, he didn't seem the type to drop his façade lightly.. But this also explained a fair bit about him that had puzzled her. Whatever he was the man hadn't been anything but honest with her and while she'd been surprised by her own reaction she didn't dislike the way he seemed to easily slide his serene mask back into place. His calm, in contrast to her chaos, was soothing.. and it wasn't hard to express the simple appreciation that filled her with. " Thank you, too. For not being afraid, and for letting me see something nice.~"

Nicholai could feel the stare from when he spoke to the server, and moved his attention fully to her, when it was his turn. As the server left, he watched him stride down the path, and disappeared behind the counter, yet his gaze lingered as to where to boy went. "Nice?" He teased. He shifted his attention back to king with a smug smirk. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was more than just 'nice' " He teased. But he softened his expression while twiddling his thumbs under the table, interlocking his fingers together. "I'll be honest..." He started. "I've been a shut-in, more than I would like to admit.....So I was caught by surprise to see you be....well....You." He raised his eyes to meet with hers. He lightly chuckled to see some of her bangs and covered one of her eyes. A shame really, he wanted to see them both. Without thinking, he leaned forward, just enough to reach over with his right hand, and gently brush her bangs aside. "Much better....." He stated before leaning back. In his mind, he wanted to just caress her face, maybe even- A sudden clatter on the table got Nicholai to jump, startled to see the server back with their drinks, and setting them down in front of them. The man sheepishly smiled a nervously laughed before thanking the server, and watching him walk away again. "Ahem." Nicholai cleared his throat. "Well.....Um.....Heh..." He was truly at a loss for words. "vashe zdorov'ye" He spoke in his native tongue which translates cheers. Whenever he spoke in Russian, his tone of voice is a little more huskier but still all the same soothing.
