☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Alan's demeanor instantly soured. "Dexter released all my classes today. He made half of them watch a video that had nothing to do with the subject, then snuck off with his boytoy!" He huffed and crossed his arms, stomping his foot in frustration, then glaring at the wall. "I swear, I don't have a single trustworthy person in my inner circle. I mean, except you, but I don't think you should count." "The numbers never lie."

Reed de Févin "You were my everything.""That... Wait, hang on." Reed furrowed his eyebrows in thought. "Dexter cancelled your classes? Can't you just, I don't know, not do that? They're your classes, after al- Wait, that guy's gay?" He blinked and looked over at the doorway as if the man would still be there. Huh, now his optimism made sense. Creepy. Reed looked back at Alan after a while and huffed when he heard the last part. "What? Why?" he demanded, offended."Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Alan blushed lightly and looked anywhere but at Reed, rubbing the back of his neck and kicking his foot a little. "Isn't it obvious?" he mumbled, green eyes slowly looking back to Reed. "You're my best friend. Of course I trust you." "The numbers never lie."

Reed de Févin "You were my everything."The background turned white as silence took over, Reed even lost every color he had, even for his clothes. Best friend. Friend. The friendzone had never been so painful. "Umm, about that." he started and put his hand on the back of his neck. That Dexter guy was right, if he didn't do anything then Alan would be too oblivious to start anything himself. "Ah, I was wondering if... You know, the two of us could... Umm... You know what, never mind." he laughed nervously. Who was he kidding? He couldn't bring himself to ask Alan out!"Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." "Huh?" Alan blinked twice in confusion, setting a hand on Reed's arm in concern. "What is it?" Suddenly, he realized what all this was about. Of course! How could he have not seen this before? Alan, with a firm look of determination on his face, clenched his fists and held them close to his chest. "It's okay, Reed. I understand! And rest assured, I'll do it for you!" He then started for the door, grabbing the doorknob. "Don't you worry, Reed, I'll find you a girl for Christmas, even if it takes me until Christmas Eve!" His determined face looked almost cute, considering he was about to go on a mission to get Reed laid. "The numbers never lie."

Reed de Févin "You were my everything.""What?" Reed's eyes shrunk into two dots as a question mark floated around his head. Do it for him? What, ask him out? Oh no. It was even worse. Reed's expression became purely blank, not even having facial features anymore, when he heard Alan's so generous offer, and the upper half was shaded. "I don't want a girl for Christmas!" he scowled then gave the scientist a hard look. "Actually..." He rubbed his chin and grinned like the Grinch. "If you can actually get a girl, then fine, I'll go on a date with her." he snickered, a challenging grin on his face."Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." "Challenge accepted," saluted Alan, nodding at the musician. "You can count on me, Reed. I won't let you greet the new year without getting laid." He then held up a peace sign, grinning. "Even if I have to beg! I'll go to the mall right now and start looking." He then waved at Reed, starting out of the office. "I'll come by your place later, 'kay?" he called, practically skipping out. He had a mission to accomplish. "The numbers never lie."

Reed de Févin "You were my everything."A man in a black jacket walked over to the double doors at the end of the hallway. He could hear music from beyond those doors, bad music. It had its charms and good parts, but it also had its problems. Tuning, for instance. The man tilted his head up when he heard a bell ring. The music through the doors continued for about another minute until a figure standing at the podium swung his white stick around, silencing the band. "That's good enough for today!" the conductor said. Some of the musicians were already getting out of their seats to pack their instruments up. "We'll rehearse this again tomorrow. I'm going down the line, but I'm not saying which group is going, so practice up! See you tomorrow." The man in black moved aside as the doors opened to let students out. He ignored them and peered inside to see the conductor go to his office, a few students following. That wasn't good. It wasn't bad, either, just tedious. No matter, he could work around this. Waiting until enough students were gone, the man grabbed the tail of his coat and ran it over his face. When it left what was once a man became a sweet-looking elderly woman in a garb. Yes, this was a good disguise. No one would be able to trace her to him. She reached into her coat to pull out an apple. Smiling to herself, she waved a hand over it. A lime green mist came out and was absorbed by the fruit, though nothing about it change. Good. This apple was the key to winning Heinrich back.
"Yeah, the song could be better, but what do you want me to do about it? It's not my arrangement." Reed scoffed at the student that talked to him about graduation music. "Now hurry and go. You'll miss the bus and I've got a meeting in five." he said as he got up from his desk after checking his email. The student left, he knew, but why was there still a presence he could feel...? Suddenly, "Hello...?" Reed spun around to see an elderly woman at the doorway. "Oh, hi. Is there something you need?" he asked, a friendly smile on his face as he stood before her. Who was this? The woman shook her head, a sweet smile on her wrinkled face. "No, no. I wanted to visit the teacher that influenced my grandchild so much." she said lightheardedly. "Oh your grandchild! And who would that be?" Reed asked. "One of your graduating trumpet players. He never did like music until you convinced him to stay in band. Thank you so much." She held the apple out to him. "Try this apple. I would bring you more, but they're all baking in a pie right now." Her smile sweetened. "I'll be back first thing in the morning to give it to you!" "What? You don't have to do that." Reed smiled as he took the apple, but the woman shook her head. "No, no. I insist. It's the least I could do for someone who helped my grandson in a tough time." "Oh, well... Thank you." he nodded. The woman said her goodbyes and left quickly, leaving Reed to his thoughts. He didn't recall a trumpet player with a tough time like that, or one that talked about their grandparents. Then again, he wasn't close with the entire band. Not yet, at least. He looked down at the apple. A pie, huh? That was great! He'd have something delicious to snack on throughout the day, and he could tease Alan with it by saying that a young, pretty student made it for him. That oughta get him back for shooting him in the hand, which was still bandaged and hurting! Alan would probably yell or cry, or both, but maybe he'd make it up... some special way. Smirking to himself, Reed took a bite out of the apple. Ooh. Tangy. Like the green apples only this one was re- Reed froze. He lurched forward, throwing his hands out to grab the desk and keep him up. What the hell?! One hand went to his throat. He felt... He felt tingly all over. He recognized this. This was magic, but where-? He looked at the apple. No! Before Reed could spit out the apple or call one of the workers at the school, the apple's magic took effect. Green mist swirled around the musician's entire body, changing him, warping him, until all that left- "Ribbit!" - was a frog.
Meanwhile, the lady was long gone, back to her original form. King Earle smirked to himself as he strolled out of the music building. That man should be a frog by now, and there was no possible way to break the spell unless his True Love kissed him. Even if Aldrich's son happened to have that position, he sounded too shy and distant for something like that. Now that he was out of the way all he has to do now is report to Aldrich and learn the next steps to winning his beloved butler back. Wait for me, Heinrich, he thought as he looked up at the sky with a hopeful glint in his proud, blue eyes. I'm coming."Your music will live on."

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Hours later, Alan's fingers tapped the screen of his cell phone, pulling up Reed's information as he roamed the halls of the dark school. He pressed on the man's face, holding the device up to his ear as his shoes clicked and echoed in the large school. Ring. Alan opened a door, peering inside the practice room. Despite the familiar stink of reed grease and rosin, there was no one inside. He stepped back and shut the door, listening still for an answer. Ring. Another door. Ring. Another room. Ring. Empty. Ring. Empty. Ring. Empty. Click. "You have reached the voice mailbox of-" Alan pressed end and lowered the phone. He'd called Reed a grand total of eight times now, and his worry was growing with each call. Finally approaching the man's office, he steadied an upset expression and opened the door, greeted with the sight of another empty room. This time, Alan couldn't stop his tantrum. "Damn it, Reed! You're so irresponsible and- Stupid man!" He clenched his fist and hit the door, shutting it as he started for the computer. Maybe he'd get some clues from what was on the desk. "if it turns out you're cheating on me, I'll get Dex to chemically castrate you." He mumbled to himself meaningless threats, and if Reed were there, he would've been sure to know that this was just the socially awkward man worried to bits. "The numbers never lie."

"Ribbit!" A noise came from the floor. It came again three times before movement joined it. On the floor was a garden frog about the size of Alan's hand. It hopped around and stopped to croak, repeating the process. There was one thing that remained constant about it, however, and that was that it hopped around Alan's legs.

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Alan stood out of the chair and knelt to the ground, lifting up the frog and blinking at it. "The hell?" he muttered, looking around for an open window. "How'd you get in here, little guy?" He sat back down, holding the frog to his chest and rubbing its head. "Poor thing, you must be so frightened." "The numbers never lie."

The frog croaked when it was picked up. But deep down it was trying desperately to yell English at Alan - Or in this case human. Dammit, why can't he hear me?! Reed yelled in frustration in his mind. He had hopped around his office for hours, trying to figure out how to get out of this frog situation. He tried everything, from trying to get on his desk so he could hop around on the phone to trying to open the door and get out of the office. Now Lady Luck decided to make fun of him by sending Alan here just to tease him! Is this payback for almost teasing the scientist with pie? Without human speech available, Reed tried the next best thing. He hopped up and down in Alan's hands. It wasn't high enough to get him to latch on to the scientist's face, but at least it was an attention grabber.

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." Alan glanced down at the hopping frog, setting it on the desk and lowering his face to better see it. "What's wrong, Froggy? You hungry?" He looked around, not seeing any insects. "Damn, nothing. Can frogs eat gum?" He reached into his pocket, pulling out a pack of gum and taking a piece out, his face not far from the desk. It would take a well-aimed leap for the frog to be able to kiss him, though. "The numbers never lie."

Gum, Alan? Reed asked mentally with disbelief. Since when have frogs ever eaten gum?! You're the scientist here! If frogs could have sighed it would have. He had spells and curses placed on him before, but never like this. He didn't even know how to break it! His other curses usually broke with potions, but he had no idea who could have that kind of stuff here! What could he do? He at least had Alan's attention, but how could he tell him that this frog was actually his extremely attractive lover? The frog lazily turned around on the desk so that it could face the computer. That's it! He could type out what was wrong! Hopping together with all his might, Reed got to the keyboard and bellyflopped onto it. The screen did change, only to awaken from its sleep to show a security screen. Okay, no problem. The password to this was simple, it was 'Reeds4Reed'. Get it? Anyway, the frog hopped on the keyboard again to type it out. To his dismay, his entire body pressed down on multiple buttons at once, and even when he tried to backspace he would press more again. Crap, he hissed in his mind. He turned to Alan and croaked at him, hoping to get some reaction out of him. Maybe he'd unlock the computer for the hell of it?

☸ Alan Brandt ☸ "The science of it all is simple." "No no, Froggy, don't play with Reed's computer." Alan gave up on his search for gum and reached to move the frog from the keyboard, holding it to his chest. "He'll get really pissy if he finds out you've been touching it. That's why-" He turned his head to the side as something red caught his eye. Still holding the frog, the scientist walked over to the object. It was an apple. Weird. "The numbers never lie."
