Felina snickered watching a servant running along after Corella with what appeared to be a piece of jewellery she had dropped from running about "Well I'm giessing she's just that hungry she barely noticed us for the smell" she suggested giving the servant a look of sympathy. "Copies of the original portrait got circulated around silly and inspired similar portraits to go around and in case you haven't realised, we're incredibly spread out in terms of our numbers. But sure give your guild a holiday home if you must and don't go dragging our kids into the guild business and I'll have no need to be too mad at whaever schemes your planning"
"Ninjas like to be independent from the government but they are willing to pay you a lot of money to do a little work for them" Satoshi shrugged. "And then some are more loyal to the emperor than others for that reason so one village of ninja might be hired to stop another group of ninja 'tax collecting' and wars break out over all kinds of other issues"

Oassu sighed knowing he'd probably have made off with the jewellery if he was the servant "Aww shame could've had a nice little line of noble thieves if you'd let me, heard a couple of hilarious stories of nobles who tried that in Mineerin and when caught simply went 'I'm a lord!' and the guards let them go" he snickered wishing he had that luxury.
Gil sighed relaxing more in the chair as he finished his coffee "Well least you seem to be relatively peaceful for now, seems weird hearing about wars between villages, I mean war does come to villages but normally as a battlefield between large countries there's not exactly any middle ground to fight on when this is essentially the main objective for any enemy faction" he contemplated.
Itaka chuckled "Well you need to trick them to drink potions then but no matter" he said rolling up the blanket as Irelia wandered over to Seph thinking she'd heard something about food "Besides we can easily continue that position when we get back and everyone is fed" he chuckled attaching the blanket to Boris' saddle.

"Or they could just break the bottle since some of them can have some nasty gases" Seph quietly answered back petting Irelia but shaking her head so to say she had no food "Now I wouldn't say no to resuming that position later though out of interest, how many members of staff are still lurking around the farm, don't want to be ambushed by them in the middle of the night"

Felina rolled her eyes unimpressed at the thought "Yeah it's all very well and good doing that but if word gets round that your robbing your people you'll only end up with rebellions.Thats if your king, if your just a lord then you can still be arrested since some of the elven law enforcers are bold enough to do it thats for sure and could risk losing privelages" she warned.
Satoshi shrugged thinking nothing of the situation regarding their village "Well its no different from two factions or tribes at war with eachother if less primative. Smaller scale than a country and less damages but still not pleasent. Attempts at surprise attacking villages is more common than all out war though."

Oassu chuckled "Hey relax dear I'm not that insensitive I'd put shame on the family name, don't wanna give your mother reason to gloat that she thinks she coulda picked a better man than me," he smirked stopping as they came to the kitchen door "After you milady" he said putting on an air of nobility with a giggle.
Gil frowned "Suddenly it doesn't sound so peaceful here despite the picturesque scenery, what other kinds of villages are there out there anyway who bother you?" he asked.
Itaka pulled a whistle from Boris' pouch and gave it a blow resulting in a loud 'Waaaarrrk' sound causing the other chocobos' to gather around before putting the whistle away "Well since we've both taken care of chocobos before I only had one member stay on, Erika she's an old girl who does more housework and cooking than chocobo work but she can feed them fine, bit too young to give them proper exercise though" he said mounting Boris while Boris yelled at the other chocobos to get in line "She sleeps outside the mainhouse though there's a bedsit in the stables so that someone can keep an eye on the chocobos overnight" he said "We won't need to worry about being disturbed" he said

Seph laughed watchin Chobi sprint to the front of the line kwehing at her expectantly "Ok ok Chobi, yes its your time again" she told the bird climbing up onto its back. "And so long as I don't give her a heart attack then thats fine for me. It's better we don't get disturbed at all knowing what kind of things you like to get up to in private, you little devil" she teased signaling to her pet to stride forward.

Felina snickered performing a small curtsy for Oassu before moving into the dining room "You've been practicing haven't you? Well keep up the good work" she replied teasingly while she glanced around at where the knives and forks had been placed around the oversized table "Now you maybe be the guest but the big chair on the end is for dad and Corella would be in so much trouble is dad caught her swinging on chairs like that" she whispered trying not to laugh as her sister suddenly sit bolt upright before relaxing a little seeing who had entered the room.
"Well theres our neighbours and by that I mean the only other village in this little region is the Tide village, located on the coast in case you haven't quessed. Those are the most common enemies that seem to appear and then theres the 'Imperial village' which is the one the emperor is always hiring hense the name. They don't attack as frequently but when they do... well they get the funding of an emperor so they are always a massive force to worry about. The rest are allies or deemed to small to be any significant threat" Satoshi explained about to mention the frost ninjas at that point before remembering Gil wasn't present for that last encounter.

Oassu nodded to Corella smirking at her brief panic "Well sure maybe though I'm not entirely sure what the multiple knives and forks are for yet but where should we sit?" he asked looking over at the ornate chair set aside for Elorin.
Gil frowned "It's a wonder any of you can live so peacefully when you are perpetually in a state of war with your rivals" he said setting the cup down on the table "Suppose it means there is plenty of business for Ninja at least" he said putting an arm around Satoshi.
Itaka smirked watching as Chobi gave Gregor an indignant look now that Seph was on her back "Well that's rich coming from the the demon but no she knows you're here she just thought it wise to stay out of our way and give us some space besides she'll be going home tonight anyway for the Dragon Festival" he said signalling for the other chocobos to follow along as they headed back to the farm.

Seph smiled gently tilting Chobi's head and gaze away from Boris "Well in that case I bet she's glad you showed up to give her the break. Though it does raise a question. How should we celebrate the dragon festival .This doesn't really classify as a festival when your this isolated and Im not sure the chocobos know what festivals or even dragons are" she wondered having to stop her pet racing ahead.

Felina paused fighting back a laugh seeing Corella blush "Well we'll sit opposite of course otherwise theres a 50/50 chance your sitting next to my mother. And the general rule of thumb is to use the cutlery on the outside first and then work your way through to the middle set by the end at dessert" she whispered with a snicker before leading Oassu over to the table. "You know your not meant to swing on those chairs, would cost an arm and a leg" she teased her sister.
Corella paused waving to Oassu "Yeah yeah good evening to you too and I'm hungry already. The food smells so good but mum is taking her time getting ready probably" she complained looking at her knives and forks impatiently.
"Oh its not so bad, ninjas are tough and our village is always well defended. And its not like they come and attack so often we don't have time to kick back and relax" Yuki shrugged guessing the information might worry Gil. "Put it this way, we haven't has a ninja war here since Nadira here was 6 years old. Maybe the occasional skirmish but thats it"
Satoshi nodded deciding against telling Gil how she got caught up in that war "Yeah we're ok for now but its only natural we would get conflicting interests with other villages at some point"

Oassu smiled sitting by Felina "Man these chairs have such high backs I'm amazed you can swing on them at all though it's nice to see you Corella I take it you are excited for the Dragon Festival tomorrow then?" he asked
Gil nodded "Well if you say so though it makes the life of a mercenary look peaceful compared to living in a village perpetually at war." he said sighing before glancing at the clock "Will we have to get moving to meet your teammates soon?" he whispered.
Itaka scratched his chin "Well I'm not really used to celebrating in a big way normally have a big meal count my money and treat myself to a new sword or comic on the day though if you don't mind about 2 hours travel we could go to the village to join in the festivities they have" he said.

Seph shrugged "Two hours isn't so bad, air travel makes journies like that a whole lot faster so could probably cut the time in half though I'm not airship speed. And meals, I could cook you a meal but all I can cook are the rubbish meals you want when travelling long distences and we can even get you a new comic or two" she snickered reaching over and patting his shoulder.

Felina snickered looking around briefly before giving the chair a small swing "it's just possible but these chairs can break easily and its very easy to topple them over with the high backs. Wouldn't recommend you try it" she answered shuffling along.
Corella smiled and nodded her head "Yes. We've got so many fireworks stashed away so a lot of us are going to be heading to the temple right up the top of the hill tomorrow evening to set them off and the lights around the trees are so pretty and then theres the food and the lights and the gifts and everyones happy!"
"With the life of a mercenary your life is only as peaceful as the contracts you pick out right? Do one or two that piss the wrong people off and your stuff with bother for life" Yuudai guessed with a small shrug "Its the same in general with ninja"
Satoshi paused glancing at the clock "Yeah it would be a good time to start making a move as Hitomi would get mad if we're late knowing her. Plus I think it would be nice for you to see how teams have fun out of work after this somewhat paranoid topic" she whispered.

Oassu turned his attention to Corella having been fiddling with his cutlery before "Sure I bet it'll look fantastic so long as there's no accidents and fires what with all the trees around but sure it's a great time of year" he said.
Gil chuckled "Well it's not always that bad, best to kill your enemies so no grudges are left and it's no big deal" he said "Still it was a lovely meal thanks for having us over" he said politely to Yuudai.
Itaka chuckled "Sure though thats 2 hours on chocobo rather than foot so it won't be that fast and we can buy a proper meal in town tomorrow if you like I'm sure there's better cooks there than either of us" he said.

Seph laughed and nodded her head "Yeah but its really not hard to be a better cook than us. And tomorrow I can give you your present too and hopefully you'll like it because I thought long and hard about getting you it" she remarked checking back on the rest of the chocobos. "Though get the fire on when we get back and you can take a better at how I made your place more festive looking while you were sleeping earlier"
