I am only not saying anything because 1. i am sorta tired and 2. I know very little about this subject. So frankly for me it is best to keep my mouth shut at the moment.
Also Crystal i suggest you read up on guild announcements and on the little announcement that happened mid rp. In the assembly hall.

in simple terms, the ability to make fire hotter than a pyromancer and ice colder than a cryomancer is a little unbalanced. it pushes on the "all students are created equal" principal.
keep in mind that fire and ice have no tell.
other than that, don't use words with multiple relevant localized definitions.
tying things to physics is great, but if malix doesn't understand you than other more average people wouldn't either. it is bad literary skills to not write for ones genre, and chao and legend are significantly younger than the rest of us. it deifies role play. a player has to understand your power to type their character's observations. if you tie it so deeply to physics, some people won't understand. as it is, my physics classes and your physics classes cover thermodynamics differently apparently. entropy and entralpy are traditionally used as measurements, and controlling the entire thermodynamic equation set from pressure to temperature is a little much. other than that i don't understand why wording it in scientific terms could possibly help against mostly English shifted people....sorry, i'm just saying. it's nice to be smart, but it's nice to know your audience as well.

I don't want to argue about what it is, but if you ask me what the scientific use is, it is not about heat. it is the amount of energy unable to be utilized in a thermodynamic or chemical equation. as our definitions contrast highly, i ask that we omit the word from all discussion of the power. and no. particle energy of motion, as temperature is, is actually the same energy source. cold energy is not negative, but closer to zero. oh. and enthalpy is not manipulatable, as it includes both halves of the equation, therefore to change the value of enthalpy is to in some way remove, or add molecules to the equation (even if you are just adding volume, the effective result is the same) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and people start talking physics, and the thread dies....no fun. || Dark Crystarium || Without the Darkness...
Damn it... And it is not cold energy. Cold is actually heat, just below 0 degrees Celsius, however if we start talking in Kelvins, the actual zero value of cold is 0 Kelvins which is quite lower than 0 Celsius. And I was talking Chemistry the entire time. <_<
In any case, Exothermic Reactions generate cold by releasing energy, resulting in Negative Enthalpy, while Endothermic Reactions generate Heat by absorbing energy resulting in Positive Enthalpy, so in actually, 'cold' energy is negative... to an extent, but then again, I did all my Enthalpy things in Joules instead of temperature values since we were talking about energy... or was it Kelvins... I know we used Kelvins for the gas laws...
I'm gonna stick to Cryokinesis (Ice Generation/Manipulation/Cooling) and Pyrokinesis (Fire Generation/Manipulation/Heating).

If you are going to stick with that in itself you cant do that with one character and that is outlined in the abilities info. So unless you use the one notable work around it will not be allowed to have one character both of those abilities.

excuse my use of the incorrect term "cold energy", but everything you used to de-explain that was a rewording of things i had just said...i had covered that cold is heat, etc.
endothermic reactions generate cold by absorbing energy.
exothermic reactions generate heat by releasing energy.
we rarely used joules for things we could do without it. and it was a while ago, about three years actually, not including this one...the fact is, as a music major, it's s**t i don't want to deal with. My old friends would hate me for saying it, but i don't really care. the fact is that most role players have a focus on English or the arts.I was in GT chemistry 3 1/4 years ago. but it really doesn't matter, because i'm not intending to maintain working knowledge of thermodynamic equations. I have too many deadlines as is. I mean hell. i have another full orchestra piece to write, as well as crap for my band, and college, to brush up on chemestry.

I was more likely to have them as two ends of a certain axis. Basically, I was going to have the accessing of these powers as a kind of state. Basically, the two states are called "Plus" and "Minus". The Plus state is easily accessible and is the Pyrokinesis, while the Minus state is the much more difficult and dangerous to access and is the Cryokinesis. ((Just to annoy Aria I am going to say this)) Essentially representing Positive and Negative Entropy respectively. The way to access Minus state would involve reversing the polarity of his Pyrokinesis powers to transform them into Cryokinesis. Is that acceptable, or will I have to use Aria's suggestion? o 3o;

i use a different definition. it doesn't annoy me, but it makes your words look silly, because i read with the other definition in place, so it's like one has a positive amount of energy that it cannot use to perform work, and the other has a negative one...

I am tired and somewhat irritable right now so I will just say this now. To control both fire and ice without being a potential is not going to be allowed period. No matter if you call it pyrokinesis or cryokinesis. From what I understood of aria's first suggestion which i would be more ok with is more of a localized temperature manipulation. I may be wrong but that is what I interpreted from what his first suggestion said. That i would say would need to have limited effective range but other than that I would be ok with it.

you are correct on all fronts dear malix.
cryokinesis (ties it to psionics)=ice manipulation/creation (description in english)=cryomancy(ties it to the occult and magic)
pyrokinesis(ties it to psionics)=fire manipulation/creation(discription in english=pyromancy(ties it to the occult and magic)
this system is the same for all elemental suffixes. for example Necrokinesis is the psionic manipulation of the dead. Necromancy is the Magical manipulation of the undead.
Aerokinesis is the psionic manipulation of air. Aeromancy is the magical manipulation of air.
and that was my suggestion. because of that definition, though, the faster you wish to change the temperature, the more energy it uses. theoretically, with patience and energy conservation it can be very powerful...though not flashy at all. well...people spontaneously combusting/freezing is still pretty cool.
((the words in quotes are based on connotation. in effect, they all have the exact same definition.))

that's a rao thing. it's not a rule for the rp. seth is a Aerokinetic/Aeromancer and he has no elemental. only rao, sakura, and my characters have them, and that's because we are all playing off his specific side story.
it is actually fairly preferred that people don't all bass of the same system.
legends case is different...

So far this is what I have for my character Neku Aoshima's power description.
Cryokinesis ~ Neku Aoshima is capable of generating and manipulating Ice with the power of his mind. The method in which he generates the ice in the first place is a typical Cryokinetic manner, in slowing down the activity and movement of local atoms, resulting in temperature rapidly cooling. This in turn affects the moisture and water molecules in the air, causing the ice to be generated. Due to this restriction, Neku is not able to generate large amounts of Ice without an area with high humidity or nearby large bodies of water. However Neku does not have this restriction on the manipulation of the Ice he creates or nearby Ice either. Neku's Generation and Manipulation aspects of his power weaken with higher ranges, with its most powerful being in physical contact, in which he can affect the water in the bodies of living beings to freeze parts of their bodies, but totally freezing them takes prolonged contact. As well as this, he is not as affected by the water restriction when it comes to just around his body, but past distances of 2 metres from his body, the restriction applies, but within 2 metres of his body, there is no restriction due to water amounts and such.
A perculiar trait of Neku's Cryokinetic abilities is that when he uses this power, his eyes start to glow a pale blue colour, and the air around him within 1 metre of him starts to cool down.

I called it 'crap' since some of it doesn't make a lick of sense to me... first there was the runes, and then the ice that can't be melted. Probably some of us were thinking, wait... that is a bit overpowered for a Ice-using student, elemental or not. Plus, I was still a bit irritated about QCS Practise and the potentially strange and unrelated questions that might be on the QCS test when I do it in Year 12 next year. Add that to the fact it is impossible to study for, I am stressed... even when I shouldn't be... ...the Light can not exist....
