It's great to hear positive updates from Bart and Inque, those made my day! whee
Things are getting better for me all around, but it's doubtful that I'll have much time for Gaia for a while. D:

So, I've been a-supervisin'. A lot. I never have any free time anymore, but the new job is SO totally awesome.
...
My current pipe dream is that I will do *SUCH* an *AWESOME* job, that they'll have no choice but to decide to keep me on when the temporary gig is supposed to be up.

I swear, sometimes you just wonder why some kids think things are going to drop into their lap on silver platter. I tested the majority of my kids class yesterday. All of my yellow belts tested except for one. He's been a yellow belt longer than the rest of them, and let the rest are moving on to green. Reason being, the kid doesn't practice. We tell him over and over and over again what he needs to do to move on. There is incentive to making green because that's when I allow kids to begin weapons training. The boy doesn't practice. He doesn't put in the effort. If we ask him to perform a certain form, even if it's one we know he should know because he needed it to get the yellow belt in the first place we get a blank stare from him. Nice kid, but makes myself and the other instructors want to pound our heads against the wall.
So, all the other yellow belts test. I come to find out that this kid had told his family that he was testing and for once they actually showed up for a class. So, everything's over and the father takes me aside, because the boy's crying. Wants to know if I told the boy if he was going to test. I told him I didn't. The father confirms that the boy doesn't practice at all. The kid does have potential, but he doesn't work. I tell them all, at length, if they want to advance and learn more then they need to work.
The father's going to have a talk with the boy, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if I never saw either of them again.
Drives me nuts sometimes. I have another student who was just livid because something "wasn't fair". I know his whole family, and I know that's his main gripe about life. We finally broke him of this habit. He yelled in class, "That's not fair!"...
... and every instructor stopped, looked at him, and just flat out laughed at him. Shocked him, and probably pissed him off even more. Then I hollered out for the room to hear:
"Fair? What is this 'fair' of which you speak? The only 'fair' I know of has cotton candy and house of mirrors."
Welcome to world, kids.

Well kids are spoiled these days, i may be only 20 and not have a lot of room to talk, but i do know that so many kids are use to haveing ever thing easy for them, like you know giving awards way for almost nothing, giving them almost no motavation to achive. and when they say fair they mean "what i want". and i just feel sick when i learn about that sweet 16 show, because i though it was only a joke in South Park. and when my co-work, was doped up on cold meds, he said he watched an episode, and told me all about the roitan kids and they b***h-o-rama. It was one of those things where i lost some of what little hope of humanaty for the future i have left.
Also kid just don't respect people older then them. adults need to make sure they put enough fear into them for respect, now i'm not saying flat out beat you kid blue for spilling his drink. It like this, my perants never beat me, but they installed enough fear into me to know not to F**k with them.
