That question was akin to asking a man who had never drove, and never seen an automobile, what sort of customization she would like to make to his car. Or asking a blind man to describe the color red. Maximos did not know the first thing about said magics, how was he supposed to break up parts? He knew he expressed an interest to Ryugi. And he expressed his concern to Ryugi, about his issues.
Infact, it was Ryugi that mentioned that monk her might be able to help. But what exactly was Maximos to say? "I want to learn to....do it?" No, that was a given. "I want to learn how you...." What? What exactly? How they did what? He didnt know where to start! This was an awkward question. Maybe the monk should have just said no? Maybe this was his way of saying no?
Instead, he looked rather confused, and shifted his eyes to Ryugi sort of silenting asking for help. And then back to the monk, mouth abit agape equally silently showing he didnt have a clue how to answer that.

He wants to have a lesson in the finer points of elemental manipulation, and how one might achieve the ability to manipulate them.Ryugi grinned. Hopefully, that was indeed what his friend had wanted. After all, thats what he had seemed to be so curious in before. The monk nodded in understanding. It seemed that Maximos wanted a "crash course" in how one might manipulate the elements, without the crashing, obviously. Hmm... What you ask, then, Mr. Maximos, is not something that often comes easily. However, though it seems your body lacks the exact catalyst to allow for using our methods, your weapon...
Yes...
Your weapon, Mr. Maximos, is the key...

Yes, exactly that!
Max chipped in right behind Ryugi because...that was exactly it. Of course he knew a good amount about elemental manipulation, but this Angaran style, it was all entirely new. And...his new sword?
Maximos looked over at it, resting on the bed, and then back at the monk quite quizzically. The sword still had many a mystery.
Ankokuko?
He said, bristling with curiousity.

Maximos Ankokuko? He said, bristling with curiousity. Yes, Mr. Maximos. "Ankokuko" is the key to your wish. The monk came into the room and sat cross-legged on the floor. He then motioned for Maximos and Ryugi to do the same in front of him. Ryugi blinked, shrugged, and sat down as well. How is it that you tell your arm to move, Mr. Maximos? It seemed to be a simple question, but was it really?

Maximos' cocked eyebrow and half confused look stayed, but obediently and entirely fully of curiosity he sat down, and folded his legs. Only, he brought Ankokuko with him, setting it down beside him, opposite Ryugi. He'd probably need his "key".
This was a tricky question. But Maximos went with the simplest answer.
You send a feeling through to it, a thought, a command.

Very good, Mr. Maximos. You will your arm to move, and your brain carries signals to your limb. Muscles flex in different amounts to combine into whatever movement you desire. This is the basis, and beauty, of the brain...
The monks was silent a moment to let his point sink in before continuing.
In this way, elemental manipulation is not unlike moving an arm. It becomes natural. So much so that we can hardly explain how, exactly, it is that we do it. Your physiology may prevent direct manipulation, but your sword, Mr. Maximos, will be your conduit.

He moved his arms across his chest and tapped his chin. Now he knew the medical explanation. But there was a point, a deeper meaning and his eyes slanted at bit as he focused on the words in order to draw it out. The monk paused, and Maximos slowly nodded.
So for dragons the elements were an extension of themselves. Now on a base level that was true for Maximos as well, the shadow in his soul would never be magically or otherwise cleaned. But the extent Ryugi pulled it...he was a Reaper after all, at a base level he felt that gap open.
Maximos reached to his side, and rest his hand on Ankokuko again. He wanted to see if he could the connection as he mentioned it.
Ankokuko will be my conduit to another realm? And with it, I'll be able to tap that realm, as easily as I move my arm?
Questions, both, to see if he understood correctly.

Now you begin to understand...
The monk's tone became more serious. The first point of the lesson had been made, and now, it was time to expand upon what Maximos had just learned. Granted, he hadn't learned the half of how he'd do it, but that was what the monk was about to try and explain to him.
Your sword already calls out to the chaos that is the shadow realm. Surely you can hear their voices as they sing in unison when you fight in battle. The sword calls the shadows to it, and you wield the sword.
Therefore, by extension, you wield the shadows, Mr. Maximos.
The monk would pause again, letting the facts slip into Maximos' mind, and allowing him to digest them. Once he'd waited a time, he'd speak once more.
The sword, then, becomes not only your partner in battle, but the baton with which you shall conduct the orchestra of shadows. Command, and they will follow. Will them to come forth, and they will rise.
Feel them, and they will feel you...

Ryugi Kazamaru That was funny. Death Knight had just blasted himself a hole in a tidal wave, so to speak. All it did was open an area where the energy missed him. As the wave dissipated, the remaining shadowy energy would converge on his form, ready to impale him on dozens of spikes. The Death Knight scoffed as the Chaos Ripple fell short. His left arm, whose recoil verged on being completely unnoticeable, shot out once more. Undoubtedly Argon could merely punch a large hole through the energy and escape unharmed, but predictably he chose brute force over purely evasive maneuvers. The ripple produced this time would be just large enough to cover the rest of the attack. This was a slight waste of energy to be sure, but it wasn't without the thought of reason. Since the Shadow Dragon's power was stored in a 'pool' of sorts instead of being drawn, any mana that wasn't completely spent would immediately be returned to Ryudo. This meant that Argon had to systematically negate any attack that was thrown at him, otherwise risk that energy coming back numerous times. How lame... This power didn't come without its drawbacks, however. While Ryudo could immediately draw upon his abilities with full force, he couldn't replenish his store of mana as easily as one such as Argon could. So while the Death Knight may be at a slight power disadvantage temporarily, this would quickly change as the battle progressed. The Undead Shade still had to watch out for Ryudo's psionic powers, which didn't seem to stem from his elemental abilities. Of course, given the enormous nature of the Tainted Dragon, Lazarus just couldn't maneuver as well as Ryudo in his current form. By no means was Lazarus slow; all that muscle made the dragon incredibly fast. It just simple wasn't as agile as the fleet-footed Shadowmancer. Obviously the incinerary beam would fail, but it forced Ryudo to keep on his toes. While the servant returned to the master, whom was in the process of negating the assault of shadow energy, the Ryudo was forced to flee from Lazarus's attack. While one was on the defense, the other could go on the offensive. Unless Lethe made an appearance, Argon would have little trouble staying one-step ahead of the Shadow Dragon. Ryudo simply couldn't focus on both of them at the same time and expect to achieve any margin of success.

So Ankokuko is already connected?
He neednt tear open a hole, or open a proverbial door. Maximos smiled.
Your saying...the key is already inserted, the door is open, I need only reach inside?
His hand slid to Ankokuko's hilt, he lifted the sword laying it across his lap, his eyes scanning over it as if seeing it for the first time again, but in a new light. It seemed a simple enough task, yet most of such tasks are not at all simple. Maximos took a deep, quiet breath, and held it tried to do precisely what the monk taught. He reached out, he felt the shadows around him.
Behind himself, behind Ryugi and the monk, under the bed, in the corners of the room. Behind the lodgings they found themselves in...beside a thousand blades of grass.
He could reach farther, he reached to them entirely curious at to what would reach back.

Yes Mr. Maximos.
The monk smiled as he saw and felt Maximos feeling the shadows around him.
The rest of the journey will depend on you. I've assisted your first few steps, and opened your eyes to the door. Only you can step through it.
The monk would then rise, taking a long, deep, relaxing breath as he rose. He then bowed and would look to Maximos and Ryugi.
I must take my leave now. Meditation is about to begin. I wish you the blessings of the Adamants on your journeys.
That said, he would finish his bow, and head out into the courtyard and join the other monks as they prepared for their daily meditations.
Ryugi would get up as well and sit on the bed near where the group had been.
Well, Max, did that help at all?

MagnusXL The Death Knight scoffed as the Chaos Ripple fell short. Ryudo's red right eye twitched as he saw his energy negated by the chaos energy, and it twitched again as he saw the tainted wyrm return to its master's side. Ryudo visibly bristled. Something was beginning to overcome his usually calm exterior. Deep within that powerful mind, locked up so tight and kept under powerful control were Ryudo's more drastic emotions. Hatred, anger, rage, his violent impulses, the impulses of a predator that was not overcoming its prey. All the shadow energy he'd tossed towards the Death Knight had done little more than be negated. Ryudo's logical mind was quick to figure out that normal shadow attacks simply were not going to be enough to damage this foe. And it got under his skin... Ryudo's eyes closed, and suddenly, the wind changed. It seemed to flow away from Ryudo in all directions. Dust blew away from him as his fists snapped closed. Then, a form rose from his body, almost like a black demon rising from his shadow, a devilish form with white flaming eyes. Its head was pointed, it had no mouth, and yet there were two horn-like protrusions on its head. Its elbows were spiked, its shoulders were slightly spiked, and its fingers looked like black ethereal claws as violet energy seemed to bleed from the form. Two on two was fair...wasn't it? Insolent maggot!! Then, it happened as suddenly as the shifting of the wind. Ryudo's eyes snapped open, but something was wrong. These were not the silent red eyes of a powerful being, these were the crazed blood red eyes of a beast intent on destroying every "living thing" that stood in its path. They glowed red with anger, hatred, rage, and thunderous amounts of energy that suddenly sparked as if from nowhere. The pupils dilated, and the eyes locked onto the soulless gaze of the Death Knight. I'll tear you to pieces!!!Energy erupted from Ryudo as the form behind him let out a silent roar in unison with its master's defiance, mirroring his motions exactly. Black energy, blacker than the blackest night, shot towards the Death Knight like a runaway freight train. Then, it split into thousands of spiky segments that would attempt to envelop both the tainted mount and the Death Knight in a rain of black death from all directions. It would seem that the pool of energy was larger than the Death Knight would have expected... Perhaps more energy would get through that blasted negating barrier?

Indeed, Maximos felt there was something here, lots, this would be the method and tool by which he would expand his ability to wield Ankokuko. There was power and ability left in the blade untouched, and he felt he would be able to find it.
Thank you, very much Sir.
Maximos formally bowed his head, and watched the monk leave. He paused in silence for a moment, yet still holding the blade. The silence gave way as Ryugi spoke, and Maximos seemed to be deep in thought before turning to answer.
I...I think so.
He said, as he smiled and stood.
It looks like we have quite the journey ahead of us!

Maximos I...I think so.He said, as he smiled and stood. It looks like we have quite the journey ahead of us! Indeed we do.Ryugi stretched a bit and began to work out his legs and arms. They had a long walk ahead of them if they were to head into the Suhalla Desert. It certainly wasn't the most pleasant of areas, and they'd probably want to fill up on supplies before heading out. It was a long walk down the mountain to get to Suhalla, and then heading out into the desert to the Cave of Glass, which Ryugi had never seen before. I suggest we pack up and get moving. We'll have to get supplies in Suhalla before heading out into the desert. I may be a dragon, but the lack of water is always a factor, even for me.Ryugi would chuckle and head over to his bunk after he'd stretched enough for his liking, and then he'd begin to pack up his things.
