matty_the_monkey i sted in 6th grade, YES! I started marching in 9th grade, YES! I am going to get a whight Clarinet, YES! you're in sixth grade? you're getting a white clarinet? i'm not so sorry to say this you're stupid smile why get a white clarinet? Who cares if it looks cool, black is the prettiest and the best, I'd rather sound unique then look it >>; don't ruin the band just because you think white is cool ~_~

Getting a uniquely colored instrument doesn't necessarily ruin a band. They could have fantastic sound.
I have a Red Clarinet, and I'm very confident in my musical abilities. In fact, the color clashes with my marching uniform. They're maroon and gold. But since I am such a strong player, it doesn't matter. ^^

I think wood is the best anyone could get, and black is just utterly pretty and goes with anything.
anyways....
me went to another pacific symphony concert yesterday ^^ those were some 1337 clarinet solos :]
unfortunately my teacher was playing second yesterday [he's a sub too...being a freelance musician] >.<; but I can't blame him for not wanting to do first with all those solos....he's stressed enough as it is...my lessons were moved around quite a bit this week...he had like 20 gigs I think o_O a few more this week...he has a tape audition tomorrow for ze L.A opera and if he gets passed that round then he has a live audition on tuesday....so if my lessons get moved then thats a good thing!! ^^ but he's just been really busy and stressed, he's had to do the auditions for PYSO [i bet you sweatdrop ] his students, etc etc.
>> but I'm a little mad at my teacher right now....err yeah.
biggrin i'm going to another one on the 24th! heart they are gonna play copland and gershwin >w biggrin i think my teacher is gonna play the 1337 clarinet solos in rhapsody in blue...
OH HOW COULD I FORGET??
I'M FIRST CHAIR NOW!!! heart ^^!!!!! buahahhahha! biggrin for once after two years of playing I wasn't shaking!!! first chair! crying can you believe it?? finally in eighth grade!

Hello, Junior in high school. First year marching and playing. (I didn't join freshman year becuase I hated middle school band I was a snare in middle school and it didn't really work out with my 10th grade shecdule) I decided to march the tenor sax and I've been playing for about two months and am doing very well. I picked up the bass clarinet (school instrument) and love it, I plan on playing it for symphonic. I really want to play the regular clarinet sometime, mostly so I can play Final Fantasy music with it. (http://www.geocities.com/doofusmusic1)
Sorry about rambleing, well I play the bass clarinet and plan on picking up the clarinet eventually not for school or anything just for personal fun.

I'm in 8th grade now, and first chair. I'd be a lot more happy about it if there were more than 7 people in my section, 4 of which can't read music... gonk why can't one of the 27 flutes switch to clarinet?? ok enough of my ramblings. To matty_the_monkey: first concentrate on the quality of your clarinet. If you have a clarinet teacher, ask him/ her first or your BD. Also when you buy the clarinet, see if you can test it before you buy it, just to make sure everything's working and you like the feel of it. If you don't like your clarinet, you'll have a hard time playing well.

Hi! I'm a junior and I play soprano clarinet... I'm coming back to it after taking a year off to play viola in the school's orchestra. Sadly, this trimester we've only got three clarinets- one returning, one incoming soph, and me. D:

Hello my fellow clarinets! I'm in my last year of school, and I've been playing for five years! I'm in my school orchestra (first chair there^_^) as well as the regional orchestra! Today in music lesson I spent a productive hour practicing my clarinet, which was the most productive hour I've spent all dayXD Is anyone else taking ABRSM grade seven? Quote: are they? im just starting high school still playing clarinet... but i play more than that... anyway, i remember in our school, we have NYSSMA competitions and i was first clarinet... the only 8th grade 1st clari thank you!!!... and there were notes i didnt even know existed before... it was mad crazy!!! Oh, I hate finding notes and not knowing what they are! It's so unfair, in one of my grade seven pieces there's a four octave jump and I don't know the top note, I think it's A-flat or something>.<

hey hey rhythm isn't the only thing that makes a song hard
its also blending the solo in as though the orchestra is behind you, where you are, who you are in it. Mozart's clarinet concerto is getting rather tricky for me, sure it may not appear to be hard, but honestly, it is a hard piece, sure some don't say its the hardest piece to play but, it really is. Its hard to make it sound like theres not effort at all, to make is sound smooth and pull in the instruments good lord its a hard piece.
playing the second movement [again] for all southern, since its my last year as a middle schooler, I'm hoping to give it my all. I'm aiming for first chair this year heart
