Kojat Youkai Saint Kojat OK,i've been in a brass band for almost 2 years and still unexperienced,.... but i wanna ask something,is it okay for a band to have only one person playing the tuba in the low brass section?
and yeah,i'm the guy who plays the tuba. Yes, yes it is. It also means you are the best tuba in your grade in that school xD lol, yup.i could be the best.but i saw other school's brass band having more than one tuba player.so it just worries me to be the only tuba player in the band. My friend was the only tuba player for my band in grade eight, then some one joined him after. I am sure you will do fine, try not to worry.

Your fine my band only has one tuba and for the longest time we didn't have one. We just had Bari sax's that would cover the part.

Our low brass is itty-bitty. Our marching brass consists of Two tubas, one marching baritone (even though we wish it was a euphonium), and one marching trombone (me, and our second trombone player can't march... Says he's gonna do it next year...), and if you wanna count crossovers, a tenor sax. We are a small band...

My low brass section consists of 3 trombones, 1 t.c baritone, 1 bari sax, and 1 Sousaphone. Only Me and the Baritone will be able to do marching band next year. Also, the leader (bari sax) isn't leadershippy.

get a euphonium. just kidding.
Keep your airway open and your teeth apart. Use warm air from your lower lungs when you play.

I Invictus I Hi everyone! I play Baritone. I was just wondering if anyone have any tips or exercises for getting a good tone. my director always says to practice long tones..........a lot. and my private instructor is always telling me to start on low Bb and work your way up the (Bb) scale doing < and > on every note starting as low as you can to as loud as you can (without sounding bad) back to low. =)
