Those are actually vaguely similar to how I imagine Terran pilot helmets, Straken, at least how the facemask works.
Also, I swear there will be something for the rest of you guys to do very soon. I know right now it seems to be mostly back and forth between Cibo and Evelyn (Please no fanfiction) while everyone else is either milling about or sitting around. so! I introduce an intro to action!

Firstly, Dante, what flight sims are you reffering to?
Secondly, hurray for 1000 posties!!!
Thirdly, Mass Effect = awesomness + PWNzores
Fourthly, do the pilots, Steven in particular, know the specifics of the new mission? The post was a bit too vague on that detail for my liking.

The pilots don't know the specifics of the new mission yet for several reasons.
A) The Hymn herself doesn't know exactly what's out there B) They have almost 2 hours to get ready C) I'm lampshading to move the plot faster.
Basically, It's a huge fleet battle, not quite as big as Terra IV, but definitely bigger than Saratar. The fighters will be doing their normal defense screen to keep smaller things (fighters, auxiliary ships) away from the heavy hitters so they can pummel each other; The Hymn's shielding only protects against things outside a rather large bubble, if stuff gets inside she's in trouble.

That's my interpretation of the marine armor.

As in the savior, Teddo? The savior is a lit lighter of an armor suit, think more like tactical armor modern day soldiers wear, but nicer, something like the Marines in Battlestar Gallactica, or the SICON partial powersuits from starship troopers chronicles.

Teddo, your skills of illustration are unmatched. Ah, the Roughnecks, so sad, I felt really demoralized when it never got finished.

Sorry, Kai. It's my calling. twisted Also, haven't seen the Starship Trooper Chronicles, watching the first one now. Interesting... I always did love the movie, despite the crappy acting and focus on getting laid! That part where they get trapped in a box canyon by ten billion bugs... classic. And as far as armor goes, I don't picture JACK'S armor, at least, to be light. As you just mentioned, you have to be suicidal to go into melee with a lizard, and that's what Jack does for kicks. Thick, light-weight plating; modern-day astronaut-esque 180-degree visor with flip-down sunshade; integrated visor HUD; broad chest plate with a blinding light at the neck; curb-stomper boots. Overall, picture it like a Stacraft marine, only instead of being in a huge tin can the armor is actually form-fitting. Light armor is fer sissies, especially when the plating we use is a fraction of the weight of kevlar. P.S. I got my brother Mass Effect for Christmas xD I wish I had it, but alas, I do not *yet* own an xbox.

What I wonder is where the heck he gets the stuff to make such an armor suit? The Terran military definitely does not issue that kind of stuff, or at least, it doesn't unless you make a write-up for it (hint, hint)
I'm going to wait till wednesday at the latest for at the very least Dante to respond, and if he doesn't, then it's fast forward time (I'm not mean enough to make you guys have to play that crap out) and then we get into battles.

So...when does one of us get to take down a Drathonian Smasher only wearing a mud-splattered loincloth and wielding a combat knife? 'Cause, I mean, if we are doing this for kicks we gotta go in for the real deal.
